Great tip! I used 2 squeezed lemons and added about the same amount of vinegar and water (equal parts lemon, vinegar and water). Stirred. Mictowaved for 3 minutes on max. Wiped down the inside. Repeated 3 times. Much better now! Thanks again 😊

This worked really well. A piece of advice, you might have to nuke your microwave a few times with this mixture. I boiled a cup roughly 2-3 times before leaving it inside for a whole night. The next morning I boiled an additional cup and again left it inside while I was at work. When I came back home the smell was almost completely gone. I boiled another cup for good measure.!

My daughter put man-n-cheese in the microwave, and she forgot to put water in it. Let’s say burnt noodles and plastic does not smell good. I thought I was going to replace the microwave, but I have tried the white vinegar with water and it’s working. The smell has greatly reduced in potency. I’m going to continue the process.

Thank you... I don't know how many times I have had to deal with people being tired and absent minded and deciding Ramen Noodles is a great idea and COMPLETELY FORGET THE WATER... And the burnt dry noodles makes a god awful stink...

So far, this has not worked. Have tried it several times. Previous tries include an overnight steam, as well as open baking soda box inside oven overnight. Multiple attempts, various solutions, 4 days and there is still a strong burnt smell. What else do you have?
Edited: Steam baking soda/water and then steam lemon juice/water. Let sit for 1 hour and wipe everything down really good. Then wipe the microwave down again with a soapy cloth. Hope this helps.
@Tiffiny Grant do I microwave this juice/bs/water combo for a few minutes first, or just stick it in the microwave and let it sit for an hour? After the clean soapy water, do I run the microwave again with nothing in it, or with the solution again? Bear in mind that I have been at this microwave with combinations of all 3 ingredients at one point or another for days now.

What if you can't use vinegar? I have Asthma, and for some reason, Vinegar makes my breathing, well, let's put it this way, It makes me so I can't breathe. Could I just use Lemon?

You can omit the lemons if you need to. Or you could also use baking soda and water.

? I had a Healthy Choice frozen dinner blow up and catch on fire in my microwave. Now when the door is opened the smell takes your breath away. Would you think the treatment that you describe here would work?
