This is perfection, I wish I could see this, at least once in my lifetime. I have seen Philip Glass & Tim Fain at the opera house in Dallas, it was bewitching.
I recommend that anyone who loves this score acquires the Universal Monsters blu Ray's (8 film version). It has tons of bonus features and one of them happens to be the original film but with this score!!
+EricVierthaler92,I love the film anyway, watch it with my husband at least once a year. With the Phillip Glass soundtrack it is even more of a masterpiece! The wonderful other worldly pacing is even more dramatic and suspenseful. No one does existential dread like Phillip Glass. We are kindred spirits my friend.
Few people know that the 1931 version of Dracula was released both as a 'talkie' and a silent version. The late 1920s and into the early 1930s was the time that film transitioned from the silent era to sound film. While theaters in urban areas quickly added sound systems, theaters in rural areas lagged behind. Since it took time to get all theaters equipped for sound, the movie studios produced movies both with and without sound. I've seen the 1931 Dracula sound version with the Philip Glass score superimposed over it and quite frankly it doesn't really work. However, it's quite effect when used with the silent version.
That Dracula was also made in Spanish language, with a different cast, but using the same sets. Comparing the two, I think the visuals of the Spanish language version are superior to the silent or English. I was surprised. A superior director, or more time to prepare?
Bela is the reason why we love vampire movies and his legacy still lives on to this day
Max Schreck is reason we have vampire movies to this day.
Philip Glass is a classic composer in life

Is it the 30 universal monster collection box set?
Watched this last night with the glass score. I think it worked well and added to the film
Am I the only one that prefers the film with the Phillip glass score?

Sort of. I don't like to see artworks (movies) altered but it adds a great deal.
the original film with the Philip Glass score would be perfect!!
I love it with the score, I can’t even watch it now without it!
am i the only one that prefers the spanish version of the film?

This wasn't meant for the silent cut, it was meant for the sound cut. It fits it beautifully but the end result is a different film.
So so great!!
