I'm 69. When I bought the "Are you experienced?" album the vinyl barely had time to cool down. (The answer to their question was yes). I saw them on their first American tour at Vet's Memorial Auditorium in Columbus Ohio. I expected to be as offended by this as I was by the Dion version. Instead, I think this is fantastic. They GET what he was doing musically with the song. I'm amazed.
Fantastic! I'm sure Jimi would have loved it! He was always looking for new ways to express himself and had projects with serious art music in his mind, which, unfortunately, he could not realize due to his early death.
They got much better at this piece but if you don' t understand what Hendrix was doing you probably won't like this 2012 rendition either. Blues guitar--by the original electric blues guitarist--to violin takes some getting used to, perhaps. ruclips.net/video/QcAxJ1_8NBc/видео.html
I think the problem with a string ensemble covering this specific song is that the drumming in the original was some of the most spectacular, savage, and badass in rock music history. It takes some 🏀s to remove that underlying structure, though one of the members was playing a sort of “drum beat” at times. Despite this complaint, I feel it was a success overall. I love the tempo changes; one of the best bands of the ‘90s, Polvo, sped up and slowed down within their songs to great effect.
I am still unclear as to why people like this music. The dissonance is annoying. Everytime I give this quartet another chance to prove they really have music worth listening to, I am disappointed.
I stayed until the end, in case they set their instruments on fire!
They should conclude performance with this cover and do as you suggest.
😊

are you sure YOU get what Hendrix was doing with this song..?
While a student at OSU, I and a few other dormies, also caught Jimi's concert. Great times, eh.
beautiful tribute. I believe Mr. Hendrix is a happy camper where ever he is...
I found this with a few more kronor recordings at the local library fan for life !
What can you say!? Hendrix would have LOVED this. I hope.
Kronos equals brilliance. They always have.
Mais oui sûr

I wish I was as adventurous as I was in the early 70s and what this would sound like under the influence of psychedelics 🤗🤗🤗🤗
No drug is needed to appreciate music... or whatever.
Kronos - - brilliant, fearless
My musical opinion(I play music on my trombone and piano every day)(not to mention spend everyday listening to music), I feel this remake is beutiful
This is beyond cool.
Brilliant! Absolutely love it!
Brilliant.
Perfect
This was "YEARS" before 2 cellos!
Bowie used this to open his 1987 Glass Spider tour, great version.
I have no memory of that at all, mind you i remember little of the concert, I've seen him a few times and the Glass Spider was the worst for me.
quelle curieuse époque ces 90'...
Kronos is FEARLESS.
I forced my best friend Kevin experience this. He thanked me
LEGENDS!
awesome
Well, this was...interesting.
So this is where Akira got the idea of fugo and his stand.
26 dislikes? you've got to be kidding
Hey...trump is POTUS. Anything dumb is possible.
like Charles Barkley would say this is TURABLE
Brilliant rendition of a famous rock piece as a 'classical punk'! Very enjoyable. But there always are musically illiterate commenters present...
If we can't laugh at our betters who can we laugh at?
Legendary words right there ^

WOWZERSZ.
Súper.
I would like a time with Clair Carlson piano and listen again

@christiancoker1
HAHAH! Then that would be super funny to watch and I would pay lots of money to see them.
Porsche 944 - Eats Corvettes for breakfast!
I love Kronos Q. and applaud them on the try. Yet, I think this one was eh....I dont know better left on the guitar.
@christiancoker1
Hahah, well what were you expecting? Them to run around playing their instruments? xD
"They wouldn't a swung if ya hung em." Both tempos off in right field.

I prefer the original. ("Foxy Lady" was good, though.)
最後がΣd(゚∀゚d)イカス!
Guys, I just sharted
Kronos = Time. I think it sounds better without the drums, here...
The beginning sounds like they're playing One-Winged Angel.
To me this is like the cardagins iron man
Balaize les jeunes 😘😘😘😘
I hope it pisses off people in all camps. It makes pop into classical music
listen
Kronos is great but this sounded like the soundtrack to Jaws.
at certain parts sound like is backwards and at other like a horror movie
HaHa!....different
panedombrovska: 👋
better versions been listen of cronos...
#fridayjam
Genki
Creepy as hell.
There is no piece of music, performed by Kronos, which is not a masterpiece.
Kronos pertet sculthor is.
pe

Purple Haze as a dirge? Some things should be illegal.
I hate this cover. The tempo is all over the place… it's not "griddy" enough, and the slidings are sometimes WAY too overused and emphasized.
Kawaii Potato I thought it was just me that thought it was slow
god, this is from the 90s. No excuse for that fashion abortion.
I am still unclear as to why people like this music. The dissonance is annoying. Everytime I give this quartet another chance to prove they really have music worth listening to, I am disappointed.
dmeachy so don't listen to it...
Horrible. Someone should invent an electronic vacuum cleaner to run on RUclips at night cleaning up all this dreck.
Shockingly bad. I'm ideologically opposed to musical outfits like this anyway but this is particularly bad.
Maybe not bad, but it's not impressive
Ideology is the problem, then. Hard to see, easy to understand. My best wishes for the future.
awful
i dont think so
