40 years on, and it still scratches an itch no one else can. Probably the one true genius out of the "minimalist" crowd of the 70s-80s. (yes, among other truly excellent composers imho) His stuff just freakin' works.

The atmosphere, the flow of human voice which doesn't insist on drawing words from any particular language, the sounds, the noises, the flow in shape of free energy passing through, the underlying melodies...
One can find themselves looking up and being surrounded by all that chaotic energy from the universe represented in this piece. One can scream everything they wanted, every emotion, every frustration, every spark of joy into all that energy and it would accept it in its everlasting, overwhelming power and beauty.

The repetition summons drone of industrial mass production. The resultant trance clears my mind and opens my inner ear. The music clears wax.
I appreciate the silence between notes and the notes in GLASS's compositions. That might sum his art. I hear the silence between notes as well as the notes played. MONK the pianist and OLATUNJI the drummer do likewise for my ear.

I read these comments and was ready to pounce on who those would dare to put down this performance. Then I listened to it... and Dora was WAY better. However, I saw PGE perform Music in 12 Parts with this same singer (I don't know her name) and she was amazing. So maybe this performance of Floe was just an off night... a very off night.
