Don’t be a fucking idiot.
Playfulpanthress all insults aside, as it doesn’t really help an argument, I believe you are the one with a limited scope. Here’s why: You have a mindset of somebody who does not want to listen to a fact or do any research of your own. Your only argument was that “cops go under fucking cover,” which added no substance to your argument. Here’s some food for thought. Our gun violence rates are pretty high compared to the UK, Australia, and Great Britain, where guns are illegal. But in a greater number, our rape, sexual assault, burglary, muggings, and stabbing are lower than all of theirs. You think the United States has a problem with mass shootings? We’re only rank 19 of countries with the most mass shootings. How about the fact that over 2 million crimes are stopped yearly with a handgun? (mostly police interactions where the gun was NOT fired.) You can not tell me that cops going undercover is the only reason why civilians shouldn’t have guns. I personally own a ruger 10/.22, a czechoslovokian VZ-58, and a glock-17. I feel safer with all of them locked away so my daughter can not get to them, but I also feel safer knowing I can grab them if I need them. As you said, “done and done.”
My favorite part is when the one kid says, the mass shootings happen in gun free zones. They don't happen in a movie theater in Texas where people are likely to be armed

I was not expecting to see Chris in this video for some reason, but when I did, I was pleasantly surprised. He speaks the truth. I wish he had gotten a chance to talk more.
The kid at 11:00 needs to think before he talks. If students are allowed to bring guns into school, it's only a matter of time before a gun accidentally goes off, or illegal gun trading starts going on within the school.
It's harder to maintain your driver's license than your gun because you don't have a right to a driver's license. Your driver's license is a privilege, not a right.
One could argue that gun ownership *should* be considered a privilege rather than a right because, like a vehicle, it has the potential to cause injury/death to oneself or others if misused.
@@elliem.9408 that's exactly how gun ownership should be viewed. Anyone shouldn't be allowed to have guns, just like anyone shouldn't be able to have a driver license.
their whole arguments for no gun control made no sense. they were basically saying it’s inevitable so there’s no point in trying to implement it. like bruh how you gonna say that if we haven’t even done anything

500,000 to 3 million lives saved each year with a gun used in a manner of self defense. This is a factual statistic done by the CDC and FBI under the obama administration. Youre argument makes no sense especially compared to the average 11k deaths per year by a firearm 60% of which are suicide so only roughly 4,000 are homicides

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of the free state, The right of the people to keep in bear arms, Shall not be infringed" -Amendment 2
Wow bro you’re so smart. The constitution also states that the amendments are subject to change throughout history based on human progress in society. Also no part of the second amendment is being infringed upon, were just enhancing what’s already been put to paper aka increasing background checks so nutcases don’t go shooting up shopping malls in Texas
See here's my problem with the second amendment. It argues both for, and against gun control at the same time. It clearly argues for "A well-regulated militia." yet it also says "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The way it's worded is fairly vague and contradictory. This is why I'm in favor of sane law-abiding Americans being allowed to own guns while also being in favor of disarming people with criminal backgrounds and mental health problems.
@@christopherjustice6411 a well-regulated militia just means that the militia must act orderly which in todays context means they have to follow laws of war, just as every military does or at least has to. And shall not be infringed is unique to the second ammendment alone meaning my right to own a firearm cannot be removed. It also says that we are to be armed to the capability of upholding a free state. Which means every regulation on what type of firearm we can use is technically unconstitutional.
Erica Gross some sources have different definitions of mass shooting. EX: 3 or more people killed in a single incident. Clumping school shooting, gang related shooting (which is the majority of mass shootings) etc.
ATX51232 no that’s just not true. You have to have a class 3 license to own automatic weapons. No private citizen who just wants to buy a gun can buy a fully automatic weapon. Not a single one.
@@benkirsch1661 actually you can, there is just a massive paywall and paperwork barrier. At least $15k+ for a quality toy you can't even use at most indoor ranges and banned completely in some of the big states. You can buy a cheaper jammomatic for around 5k but who wants to do that really.
William Moody no. You buy the firearm which is overpriced since manufacturing has been heavily regulated since 1986. Then you submit a $200 tax stamp and wait a year before taking possession of your property. I have no idea what you are describing.
They should make it a requirement that if you are to make a statement of fact, you have to provide your sources. At the same time, there should be someone there fact checking each of these claim on both sides.
that would kill the debate. high schoolers don't enjoy research. instead, they should remove the use of statistics, and instead argue based upon philosophy and critical thinking

@@winstonbower1236 Also, your argument about small places with no guns being the best site... Is only a true exception, meaning that it's most of the time false, and sometimes true. Best argument is again stats. United States is probably the country with the most guns in circulation yet is ranked first in violent crimes, which is contrary to your argument. It should be the country with less violent crimes since there are so much gun owners.
drake’s squad is basically saying “well, it’s gonna happen anyway, so let’s just essentially ignore it and pray after every massacre.” because that’s all that we could do, right? that ideology is so damaging. like how do you look at an obvious problem and say “oh well, it is what it is.” there’s a problem within our system that isn’t working that other countries have somehow resolved. and i’m not saying there’s no gun violence in other countries, but there’s a significant less amount of gun violence and massacres, and people still choose to think that it has nothing to do with restricting who we’re giving guns to.
I think it has more to do with the fact that you can’t restrict guns as effectively as you want to. Black market guns do exist and they’re not going away with gun control.
I get what drake is trying to state gun control isn’t effective as you may think just go to Mexico it’s illegal to own any type of weapon that isn’t hunting and they still have shootings. This is partly have to do with corruption but as with drugs things are going to slip through the cracks. Will there be less shooting short term of course, but it doesn’t discount the fact that you taking guns from law abiding citizens. Plus most of the shootings are children that are from single parenthood.

These kids are so uneducated and indoctrinated on this topic. I applaud the kids that support the 2nd that spoke up.. however, I'm disappointed they didn't know very much information to rebut the misinformation from the other kids talking points.
We're on different sides of this debate but I don't think we can expect high school kids to know the ins and outs of one of the most complex political issues in the country. There is so much misinformation coming from both sides of the debate, even from the top political leaders in the country. I think part of that is because it is such a thoroughly emotional topic for many people. I think with so many emotions and so much misinformation flooding mainstream discussion, it's difficult to be properly educated about the topic itself.
32:07 if robbie had spoken up earlier in the debate, this video would be a lot shorter. That's the only thing that really needs to be said. Actually, there's another very valid argument that nobody has brought up: guns are fun. You don't buy an AR to go hunting, you take it to the range and shoot at an old fridge.
Christopher's argument is essentially "IF U DISAGREE WITH ME U ARE EVIL. SANDY HOOK!!! 27 KIDS!!! OMG IM RIGHT ON EVERYTHING!!! WHERE'S MY LAPTOP CUZ IM TOO STUPID TO COME UP WITH ANYTHING ON MY OWN!!!!
This maybe be the one time I wish professional on weapons were available for the teacher and the kids because this topic is a tricky one already to debate without understanding of weapons and the process. But I love these debates that our being held
The right to own weapons to protect yourself, family and property is a born right end of story. No persons has the right to tell another person otherwise. End of story.
also i don’t think ppl realize that it’s not just a right but it is an AMENDMENT meaning that it can be changed. you have to understand that was written because of the context of the time period where mass shootings weren’t as prevalent. now times have changed and as context changes we need to change other things to fit that context
The context has never changed. You don't get to change definitions to suit your narrative. Amendments were designed to limit the government, NOT the people. Understanding that is the key to understanding how a republic works.
I'm loving all the Chris appreciation lol, but can we talk about the huge divide in the room where it's basically split in half of who believes that we should have more gun control and who doesn't and that it's also a huge divide between men and women and which gender believes in which it's just kinda weird to me but also makes perfect sense at the same time.

My high school teacher told the whole class if you take away guns from the citizens then only the outlaws will have guns.
Brandan Dengler that is 100% true. When did criminals obey laws?
Vary true
Playfulpanthress Cocaine is illegal, people still use it. Heroin is illegal, people still use it. Not much of a point you got there bud. Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean people don’t have a way of getting it.
Playfulpanthress Are you delusional? “Make them illegal and absolutely no one will have them. The ones that do get them will be arrested and tried.” Ok smart guy, figure out a way to take one specific thing that is ILLEGAL and UNREGISTERED, track it, and track down the person who possesses it and bring them in BEFORE the crime is committed. Don’t be a fucking idiot.
Playfulpanthress all insults aside, as it doesn’t really help an argument, I believe you are the one with a limited scope. Here’s why:
You have a mindset of somebody who does not want to listen to a fact or do any research of your own.
Annual mental health checks should be performed as well.
The price for that would be mental and a huge waste of time.

@@razorreef3757 nutcases are able to go shoot up shopping malls in Texas bc they are gun free zones
The "well regulated militia" of the era, were normal civilians. The founding fathers always intended citizens to own and possess firearms.
Where the hell did they get 351 mass shootings?
Erica Gross some sources have different definitions of mass shooting. EX: 3 or more people killed in a single incident. Clumping school shooting, gang related shooting (which is the majority of mass shootings) etc.
Automatic guns are already outlawed 🤦🏻♂️
Ultimate Bros technically they aren’t u just need a crazy ass license
That was temporary. It's legal to get an automatic
Josh Jonathan But half of their points are things that they pulled out of their ass? Like that one dude who was comparing gun violence in America and Australia when the two have largely different demographics and a population difference of 330 million. I couldn't believe my ears when they said that
Yo. Why is the teacher do biased?? Hes obviously favoring drakes side. Its SO annoying
drake’s squad is basically saying “well, it’s gonna happen anyway, so let’s just essentially ignore it and pray after every massacre.” because that’s all that we could do, right? that ideology is so damaging. like how do you look at an obvious problem and say “oh well, it is what it is.” there’s a problem within our system that isn’t working that other countries have somehow resolved. and i’m not saying there’s no gun violence in other countries, but there’s a significant less amount of gun violence and massacres, and people still choose to think that it has nothing to do with restricting who we’re giving guns to.

100% this, I cringed every time one of the gun control people brought up a "fact" about guns.
Its sad how much some are not informed about about the current regulations on guns.
32:07 if robbie had spoken up earlier in the debate, this video would be a lot shorter. That's the only thing that really needs to be said. also i don’t think ppl realize that it’s not just a right but it is an AMENDMENT meaning that it can be changed. you have to understand that was written because of the context of the time period where mass shootings weren’t as prevalent. now times have changed and as context changes we need to change other things to fit that context
The context has never changed. You don't get to change definitions to suit your narrative.
