    Thank you Dr Jo. Glad you have this on You Tube. Just had R Shoulder Surgery (Rotator Cuff) done 2 days before Thanksgiving. Now it has been two 1/2 weeks since Surgery. Just saw the P.A. He told me about the Pendulum Excersices, Wrist Excersices right now. Just a quick show in office. Great you have this cause I can see your body alignment for the Pendulum Excersices. Going for in for my first PT appt before Christmas 🎄. Thank you again for everything.

    Doc. I had shoulder rotator cuff surgery and a bicep tendon repair. Its only been three weeks out from having these two together of my left arm. Can I start these right now? Or should I wait another week or two? I do have a pulley system ready to go. Thank you

      Unfortunately, I don't know since I can't evaluate you. You will need to be cleared by your surgeon first.

    Hi I have a question .I'm going on 8weeks total shoulder replacement.is it safe to start external rotation now ? Buy doing these stretches will it make the nerve pain go away? or does physical therapy take care that problem .And if I'm doing physical therapy 2 weeks should I performed my physical therapy excersise home more than twice a week including the stretches. Or is that over kill.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  4 года назад

      That depends on your surgeon's protocol, so you really need to ask your physical therapist those questions, but in general, you should be doing your home exercises every day, 1-3 times a day for the best recovery.

    Hey Doc,
    First of all thank you for these very useful videos.
    I had arthroscopic acromioplasty bursectomy and labrum debridement 19 days ago.
    I have been receiving physiotherapy for 5 days starting from 14th day. Apart from the electrical stimulation and stretching moves performed by my physiotherapist, I am also doing some passive exercises at home which are pendulum (three of them) and flexion with a stick for three times a day. My wife also performs the stretching moves at home 3 times a day.
    Is it the correct time for me to do all of these? Some people say that I must start them after 4th week. What is your opinion?
    Thank you in advance…

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  4 года назад +1

      You really need to ask your physiotherapist since I can't evaluate you, but in general as long as you are not on any precautions (things you shouldn't be doing), those should be fine.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  6 лет назад

      Yes, you can do them 2-3 times a day. Depending on your diagnosis you can do them every day. Good luck.

    Can I use these post op, biceps Tenodesis? I Was in a sling for 6 weeks, now I am supposed to start PT, but can’t get in for 2 weeks because of the COVID19. I know PROM starts first though and don’t want to get behind.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  4 года назад

      As long as your doctor has cleared you to start PROM, it should be okay, but you still need to make sure you are not on any range of motion precautions first.

    • @BB-fo5mr
      @BB-fo5mr 4 года назад

      Yes, I got cleared for PROM, AAROM, AROM, Manual stretching, G-H mobilizations, and improving scapular muscle strength. All for Biceps Tenodesis. Those are the boxes checked.
      There’s no restrictions shown on the script.
      I know you are not responsible for any issues that may occur/would occur if I did some PROM exercises prior to be getting in for PT.
      But completely wasting 2 weeks without making any progress (even if its just gaining some PROM) is tough for me to justify, particularly when I am trying to/need to be able to start working at full capacity asap to make money. (This was not a workers comp situation).
      Thank you for the reply!

    Hey Doc, I just wonder what is your opinion about shoulder braces after ac joint separation, I just wonder if its a good idea to have one ? Is a good rehab all that I need ?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  6 лет назад

      I think the rehab is a better solution. Braces haven't been shown to be very effective with an AC joint separation. Good luck.

    Hey doc! I need advice. I’ve had 2 surgeries on my shoulder. Rarely do I feel pain or discomfort, went snowboarding without any problem. However my issue lies with mountain biking. I like to ride aggressive but every time I ride downhill I constantly want to go faster but I’m worried about it popping out while descending down a trail.. Can you please offer advice? really don’t want to get rid of my bike :(
    P.s. I work physical labour so I’m always lifting.
    Ryan

      What kind of surgeries did you have? If they were successful, your shoulder shouldn't just pop out when ridding your bike.

      AskDoctorJo it was a bank art repair. Did it once and messed it up and although the second one feels great and made me normal I still feel worried and at times I notice it weak

      I would just continue to strengthen it to help keep the shoulder stable.
