Followed by "planeswalker" and "time streams" and "bloodlines" Fast forward quite a few books I suggest rath and storm and the complete story that follows Urza and the phyrexians.
The silly hat thing reminded me: A long time ago, I think '98, my father entered a fairly big local Magic tournament that required some role-playing, either by wearing some wizard hat and robes, bringing a miniature/statuette to represent you on the board or something like that, to get in the mood. Now, my father didn't have the money to sport dragon statuettes or pretend to be a Knight so he used an old costume of EL CHAPULÍN COLORADO(A spoof hero from a Mexican show) and brought a little plush bull with a tie(his excuse to call it a minotaur) in order to enter. He placed 4th, in what he described as "purely lucky matches against very frustrated mages".

@BTIsaac Now that's interesting. I'm reminded of Super Mario Galaxy where there are round planets with multiple layers and flat-ish planets that have a black hole below them, so that you are pulled "down".

Hey Spice, Thanks for the video. I picked Magic up around the Return To Ravnica block and was so enchanted by the artwork I felt that there HAD to be more story behind it. Cue an unsuccessful search for MTG books at my library, but I never got rid of my cards, even when I lost my MTG players' group. I recently stumbled across your channel and was once again entranced by the artwork, so much so that the art (especially that of the Simic Combine) has inspired me to write my own novel. I actually picked up a massive box of Gatecrash cards as well, in hopes of teaching some of my new friends (and for inspiration. Cheers!

I've only played magic for a few months now and didn't read any of the lore so it's really interesting what the pictures on the cards actually mean and who those guys depicted on them are ^^ great video
He is solidly removed from the plot with a huuuuuge 'for now' you can basically be sure he won't be relevant until they really need to up the stakes in the future, like the planewalkers reviving him for aid against the return of emrakul or someshit

I would recommend putting aside maybe £50 to buy a fun commander deck that will never rotate out of the format and that you can play with your friends! I may make a video on this subject!

I have no idea what I just watched, but this was hilarious. I played Magic in 93-95 and then off and on since then, but have NEVER payed any attention to any of the storyline or the multiverse. Never cared too, but you did a great job with this :)

That's one of the things I liked about the Ixalan story; it was fun! There was minimal angst, it had humor and heart, and it upped the stakes for the upcoming War of the Spark set! I, personally, am excited to see what they do with Vraska's double agent thing.
Yeah Ixalan was a nice break from the Gatewatch idiocy that dominates the Magic storyline now. When Jace regained his memory again for the umpteenth time and Vraska was like "aww poor liddle Jacey" I almost lost my effing mind though.

"Please god say we're going back to Lorwyn" FINALLY someone else says that. I started in 2007 and I'm still waiting for any set being as joyable as Lorwyn. There was so little at stake, it was downright chill. And remember when PWs were special? And not like... 40 of them?

I have no idea what I just watched, but this was hilarious. I played Magic in 93-95 and then off and on since then, but have NEVER payed any attention to any of the storyline or the multiverse. Never cared too, but you did a great job with this :)
Can the Gatewatch die please? And maybe Bolas too? The current storyline is a bunch of angsty teens with *spaceee maggiicc* fighting a bigger angsty teen with *spaacccee maggiccc*. And don't tell me Bolas isn't an angsty teen - he has literal temper tantrums.

That's one of the things I liked about the Ixalan story; it was fun! There was minimal angst, it had humor and heart, and it upped the stakes for the upcoming War of the Spark set! I, personally, am excited to see what they do with Vraska's double agent thing.
Yeah Ixalan was a nice break from the Gatewatch idiocy that dominates the Magic storyline now. When Jace regained his memory again for the umpteenth time and Vraska was like "aww poor liddle Jacey" I almost lost my effing mind though.

Just getting back into Magic again after being out of the loop for a good bit. This was a great quick and dirty catchup. Really funny too. Great pacing and nice editing. Def earned my sub. (Side note - not that it matters a ton but wow you're handsome.)

A very long lore...I think it started in 93 or 94 with Dominaria and the Thran, Urza,Mishra, Yawgmoth, Gerrard....you have a very long story to read! But its very interesting and cool Lore
