get rid of the hoist, clear the floor area, and get another body to assist you. always begin drylined ceilings from the center of the room and work your way to the edges for cutting walls that are not square. Doing a great job HAVE FUN.

The hoists are fantastic, The bloke we got to gyprock our ceiling used one and watching him was amazing. The gyprock went up so quickly and neatly, just takes time to get used to using it I imagine, like any machinery.

Im betting that since this was 5 months ago you have figured out by now that its easier to rock a wall in sheets installed longside horizontally. Jam a full sheet into the corner, cut off the extra next to the door opening. Then you can see the top half of the wall stud to place your screws. Snatch up the cut off piece and rest it on the top edge of the bottom sheet. You will be able to follow the path of your screws all the way to the top. Viola!

    • @WestCorkWander

Oh gosh so much learnt about sheet rock, you would not believe. We learnt by our mistakes alright 😊

Before you close in all of the walls it can be fun to leave something behind. When I was a kid my Dad let us draw all over the basement bare walls before he built a finished room.
We moved without seeing it again but whoever remodeled it next probably thought the previous owners were nuts
Since you’ll hopefully be here for the rest of your days you can leave something for your future grandkids
I don’t know. Just I thought I had at the start of this video. You’re getting close to closing all of the walls. Must feel great. Now that the bulk of the spiders are dislodged, it looks great to me too
(Did I mention how much I hate spiders?)
    Thanks for the video ✌️💚🌱

    • @WestCorkWander
      @WestCorkWander  9 месяцев назад

Oh Trish, the spiders are bloody massive, you would love them 😜 I hope they stay behind the plasterboard 😬 Great idea to draw all over the walls, I remember we let our daughter do this before repainting our upstairs in our last house, however it was a big mistake as poster colour paints are really hard to cover up 🙈

Hi guys! Just found your channel the other day and have been binge watching from the start. Rob, you and Claire deserve SO MUCH respect for undertaking this reno. Claire reminds me of my wife; I call her my little backhoe (Canadian Term). Don't let loose lips sink your ship, as there will always be those naysayers out there. It is great to see the low-grade tasks undertaken and the constant forging on through the worst/hardest of them. Greetings from Nova Scotia, Canada!

    hi !
i think it is going good, i may have some ideas that could improve the plasterboard issues you have.
the people i have watched putting up plasterboard start whit the walls first and they left out a little on the top of the plasterboard so when they are starting whit the roof then they have something they can rest the roof plasterboard on.
basically they use the walls plasterboard to help them put up the roof plasterboard.
hope you have a good day anyways :)

Reading the directions is one thing, right. Maybe watching it done on a utube video will make you more comfortable hanging the sheet rock. All the DIY., English and French videoes use the lifter for sheet rock. That room being small, narrow and low ceilings would feel tight too I bet. As you say it’s a learning curve. You love a challenge, you can do it! M.

I feel your pain with the boarding. It must be nice to notice the improvement in heat retention and the change in acoustics as you insulated and board each area.
The large bedroom window looks great now it's surrounded by board - Like a painting on the wall.
Once the materials are shifted upstairs that part will be easier to close up as at least you'll have more room to move and work generally.
    Great video. Thank you.

Push your screws in abit more so you can plaster over them . Your doing a great job. Maybe also use your cut offs for tight places and the one that broke you can still use if you cut it.

Hi! I just started watching your videos! They are fascinating! Quick question about your venting for your extractor. Since your vent tube is so long is it possible that condensation might accumulate in the tube, especially where it dips down, and cause leaking in your ceiling? I watched a video from Martin Johnson, Off Grid Living, and he had a problem with this. His venting was over an unheated space so it might be different but I do think that as the steamy air cools, even in a heated space, since it will be slightly cooler than the steamy air, it might condense. Just a thought for you to consider. Marty said that the rule is to make the vent tube as short as possible to the outside.
