Young or old I just loved them, after all the laughs they have given us I feel we owe it to them to only make nice comments regardless of age, rest in peace lads you've earned it.😥❤♣️
My dad took his whole family to see them when they toured England. When I found out at the age of about 14, I was SO jealous! He also watched the final World Cup game against Germany at Wembley. He sure got to do loads of things in his time.
We don't watch "Utopia" or "Atoll K" because its a great story or because of amazing cinematography or even super funny gags. We watch it because we love the 2 guys who were in it and it was their swan song. Laurel and Hardy sacrificed their health to make that film FOR US, THEIR FANS, and I don't care what anybody says ITS A GREAT FILM BECAUSE THEY'RE IN IT!
He also received phone calls and visits from his fans from famous perfomers like Dick Van Dyke,Frank Nastasi(Soupy Sales' second puppeteer and comedy assistant),Chuck McCann,Dick Martin,Jackie Gleason and Art Carney to the average American adult and kid..who were introduced to their films via tv reruns.
Actually..they continued to perform in the music halls and Cabarets of Europe..until 1954..when Babe Hardy suffered heart problems and the boys and their wives were forced to cancel the rest of their tour and return home..along with the guests appearances on"This Is Music Hall" and the forgetable"This Is You Life"..the boys were preparing to write, produce and perform in a Mimi series of filmed tv comedy specials:"The Fabulous Fables Of Laurel & Hardy"..but? sadly..the project never came to pass.
Good, but we need the combination of this and "Cuckoo," the 1974 BBC documentary that's a bit better (and is excerpted in places here). The two should be combined into a 90-minute piece ~ though I still hope Kevin Brownlow will do a three-hour on the duo.
I didn't think "Atoll K" was that bad. If you're able to get over the way Stan and Ollie look (the opening scene is probably the hardest, in that sense), and the poor dubbing job for the other actors, it actually feels like a traditional Laurel and Hardy film (the first half, anyhow). They're still in character, and the material is fresh. It starts to slowly careen downhill once that romantic subplot is introduced midway through.
Atoll k lois laurel ça fille lois a dit que sont père était en colère d avoir tourné ce film et n a jamai voulu le voir . +John Blessing It was an urgent diet under medical supervision. There was some suggestion that he was beginning mouth cancer in the last few days of his life but nothing more than that. He died of heart failure at the end of 10 months' immobility following a massive stroke.
No, it's correct. Hardy had a minor heart attack in England in 1954 and was ordered to lose weight drastically. By the middle of 1956 he had lost 140lb. In September 1956 he suffered a catastrophic stroke that left him paralysed, and he died in August 1957. He never had cancer.
@@kevinmiller1985 Yes, he suffered a catastrophic stroke in September 1965 which left him totally paralysed. This was well after he lost 130lb after the heart attack in England in 1954. None of his medical records refer to cancer, and none of his family ever mentioned it.

I wish I could have seen them in person and given them a standing ovation.
Bless Ollie and Stan. Love these guys. They certainly were the best! God bless them both ♡♡
I loved to see the Laurel & Hardy films when I was a kid. Now I know I can see them on RUclips; I'll watch them when I can.

GooglFascists when I saw this film as a kid it was called Robinson Crusoeland. (U.K.)
I agree. It's the only reason to watch it.
Too sad watching them get old. Remembrer then from thei ace movies, not their unhappiness in sickness.
They were for happiness, not mourning.
At 0:59--- After Barry Cryer-- The large woman with Stan was Babe London co-star of "Our Wife" ( back in 1931)...
Thanks for the post

I lived near Stan's last apartment in Sant Monica California USA
Wow ,if must have felt strange being there but great.
I’d love to see that film. I bet it’s better than the stupid critics.

anyone else depressed?
No, just you.
John I agree. It’s very sad to watch these two greats passing their prime. They were such beloved comedians.
@@yacovlevi Have a heart.
The film clip from"This Is Music Hall"was the boys' last on screen appearance...not counting The Andy Wade Home movie.

Laurel and Hardy: Living Famously. Part 6
In my opinion. Hal Roach did Laurel and Hardy dirty by refusing to pay them Royalties for their performances.☹️
LMFAO!!!

I think that's a bit like saying the voyage of the Titanic was extremely pleasant except for the iceberg.

It wasn't a crash diet as stated in this documentary. It was in fact cancer that caused Oliver Hardy's the weight loss. RIP.

Stan is Clint Eastwood's real dad. I kid you not.
I'm afraid you do, it's rubbish. ruclips.net/video/PvgpfMutqok/видео.html @6.55.
Hughie...if you believe that, I have a rather fetching expanse of Guatemala swampland for sale at a very attractive price. Please send your money.
To Hughie Dixon-Sure he is.
That was a stupid rumour. Stan's daughter confirmed it in an interview.
