I love that they never tried to and all the love and fandom they have now is purely earned! Have you seen this interview they did with Nylon Mag called "In Bed with The Kills"? It's one of my most favourite interviews ever!
Im not generally fan of covers because they usually feel like they're don't really change it very much (Or they just do the same thing but acoustic) or if they do it feels for the worse. This is a great cover of great song though. That's different energy. Really impressed.
So sad that this cover has more views than the original. The cover is good, but the original is even better. Saul Williams is a musical genius about 20 years ahead of his time. He's making music that they'll realize is good when he's dead.
Holy shit I wanna thank everyone in the comments that directed me to Saul and the original version...I thought that the kills were crushing it until I heard the original song and that shit is completely fire. I’ve got 3rd degree burns it’s so good.
This band is what great rock'n'roll is all about - no stash - a duo playing their music. Alison on vocal and her stage performances......well it Kills me ;)
Alison's voice brings those lyrics to live so powerfully, gives me goosebumps! Any association with Queens famous song vanished when started singing. I listen to Ash and Ice almost daily and whatever some are saying and though I also love the raw sound of the earlier albums, keep on developing your sound,- it's awesome!
so know it's 3yrs ago BUT it's a remake of SAUL WILLIAMS & NOTHING is more powerful than him on this track. in known uNiVerse only other comparable force 2 him is ian bavitz
Every now and then I focus on the power of the music we listen to, it turns out to be a mess if you want to find a decent and earnest band; everyone shows up with a poor budget and a minimal sound, it doesn't express that naivety and personality someone usually looks for. At the same time I admit I feel so hit by some artists, those who still keep the rough blood from the '80s and the '90s. Their strength links up with that willingness to keep on, they write music without caring about charts, they don't want to be assessed as commercial, mainstream is far away from their expectations. This is why I afford listening to The Kills: bravery, decency, coherency and clean sound openly.
Truly beautiful, i can't stop listening and watching this song, oh my god i love it so much. You're such wonderful artists Jamie and Alisson, i hope only good will happen to you, love from France.
Nicolas Wackers ha! Jack White if nothing else is always intentional. I guarantee he made genuine choices. Choices that may be driven by concepts less than writing pieces that hit a preferred spot of someone’s musical pallet. But hey, Jack doesn’t need me to defend him.
Nicolas Wackers so far 3 songs? Connected by love is fairly straight. And I think Connected by love which has obvious meanings was intentionally released with respect commander. Which if you ask me bears a sexual overtone, so there may be the juxtaposition of love and lust. That song is erratic and pulsating... but falls out into a bluesy Zep kind of groove. But lyrically pointing to a commanding woman (controls me all night long). Connected by love you feel the pain of life and love as a human. It reaches heights (highest point during organ and guitar solo) and then eases back down into minimalism. Life has valleys and mountains. This newest addition is very existential. Once again Jack returns to his mind which never stops... he is plagued by his own thoughts (I think therefore I die a clever spin on the old Latin Philosophical Proposition)... and he is plagued with the thoughts that life begins and ends and it begins again in a never ending cycle, but this is unsettling and he bears it as the whole weight of the world. And the song barrels foreword with simple but strong guitar riffing and punctuated and separated by “over and over” and those vocals are unconventional and intentionally so. They don’t feel easy on the ears. It’s the overarching theme... it all just keeps going, and it feels overwhelming. Well, I could be making a lot more out of it than is actually there, but knowing Jack, he thinks of unique ways to communicate. He is committed to his work and I doubt very much he would do anything without intention... granting happy accidents as well.
This is George I think I agree with you on connected by love having listened to it a few more times, but that was the closest he got to his old songs (which are still better in my opinion) but then there are songs like corporation which seem so mindless and inane that I'm genuinely worried for him. It's not what I'm used to I agree and maybe I'm prejudiced against it but I did really feel like that was a completely pointless song which he wouldn't have been caught dead putting on an old album.
I want my money back I'm down here drowning in your fat You got me on my knees Praying for everything you lack I ain't afraid of you I'm just a victim of your fears You cower in your tower Praying that I'll disappear I got another plan One that requires me to stand On the stage or in the street Don't need no microphone or beat And when you hear this song If you ain't dead sing along Bang and strum to these here drums Till you get where you belong [Chorus] I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, you're gonna Know where I stand I'm living hand to mouth You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I wrote a song for you today While I was sitting in my room I jumped up on my bed today And I played it on a broom I didn't think that it would be a song That you would hear But when I played it in my head I made you reappear I wrote a video for it And I acted out each part And then I took your picture out And taped it to my heart I've taped you to my heart, dear I've taped you to my Heart and if you pull away from me You'll tear my life apart.

Love the Saul Williams cover! Once again, they do a cover and make it their own. I hate to be that fan, but please if Allison and Jamie add any U.S. tour dates, please add Florida since they had to cancel Orlando and South Florida dates. You guys are so amazing!
Like everythin you guys do this is amazingly hot. Great photography and edition. Love the rythms, cheers on that too. My fav song from ash n ice is bitter fruit, i would love to see a video for that theme. And since im askin, please return to the south of France.. ya know.. France is very big, for people who work i cant just go to Paris and then return home.. i loved the gig in the Nimes's coliseum.. Aluna Festival in Ardeche is also a nice venue. I need this.
god, how can a band be so underrated....
The Kills deserve to be so much bigger.
I love that they never tried to and all the love and fandom they have now is purely earned!
Have you seen this interview they did with Nylon Mag called "In Bed with The Kills"? It's one of my most favourite interviews ever!
非常同意!!
no it doesn’t
Much props to The Kills for covering Saul Williams! Love both of them.
Saul Williams one of the best poets in the 21st century.
Damn right
Both versions rock! The Kills is a slow burn and Saul's is a chaotic fire.
The Kills is so underrated and I do not understand why. Greetings from Istanbul.
tek olmadığımızı bilmek güzel
true their are amazing!!
Thats what makes'em still great.
Once they go mainstream, we'll lose the magic.
maybe because they cover other people's songs like this one and the originals are better ruclips.net/video/zDMtaIcrfQ0/видео.html
It's fine ! because we don't want them to become fucking Rihanna ! lol
At least they are covering a song by a brilliant artist with real and relevant messages in their music...
It's cool to see people making their own versions of Saul's music. A big thumbs up.
LOVE it so much. You guys managed the electro transition unlike no other band. You rule the shit.
Great performance of the song with brilliant lyrics from a brilliant band that I love very much.❤
Im not generally fan of covers because they usually feel like they're don't really change it very much (Or they just do the same thing but acoustic) or if they do it feels for the worse. This is a great cover of great song though. That's different energy. Really impressed.
Even though you don’t hear his voice, that guitar riff is all Jamie!
It was such a blast dancing in this video, thank you and congrats on the release!!
I ain't afraid of you, I'm just a victim of your fears 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If you haven't heard the original by Saul Williams...you should do yourself a favor today.
So sad that this cover has more views than the original. The cover is good, but the original is even better. Saul Williams is a musical genius about 20 years ahead of his time. He's making music that they'll realize is good when he's dead.
@@moeburn there isn't a better protest song out there for the modern times tbh

Sum different.
Really, gotta appreciate both versions.
@@therealvodeni the original has a lot more energy, that's for sure.
@@therealvodeni And now that I saw the original, this version makes more sense.
Holy shit I wanna thank everyone in the comments that directed me to Saul and the original version...I thought that the kills were crushing it until I heard the original song and that shit is completely fire. I’ve got 3rd degree burns it’s so good.
Same here, the original is really great!
Same here 😍💞
A do The Kills é UM BILHÃO de vezes melhor
@blueandgreenslacks Great way to describe Saul Williams. He's my favorite rapper. If I was in charge he would be Poet Laureate of the USA.
Love this band so much!!!
This band is what great rock'n'roll is all about - no stash - a duo playing their music. Alison on vocal and her stage performances......well it Kills me ;)
real recognizes real, I am happy they are spreading the words of Saul Williams to a larger or different market.
Incredible . Prolific . The Kills.
Went to Foo fighter concert last night and this was the supporting band. Amazing, really enjoyed it. New band added to my collection
[Sic] they really killed the vibe of the concert, they were talented, but no one enjoyed them and you could hear that by the lack of applause
@weltonsammb1384 That's because people are fucktarded.

What? Am I misinterpreting or are you saying this song is by Queen?
@@fulldisclosureiamamonster2786 i think they are thinking of the beat from we will rock you
so know it's 3yrs ago BUT it's a remake of SAUL WILLIAMS & NOTHING is more powerful than him on this track. in known uNiVerse only other comparable force 2 him is ian bavitz
It's powerful because it's not her lyrics.

Quite frankly, the best to emerge in the last 20yrs or so.
Truly beautiful, i can't stop listening and watching this song, oh my god i love it so much. You're such wonderful artists Jamie and Alisson, i hope only good will happen to you, love from France.

xx
Most powerful video, like... ever!!! 🤤❤️🔥
I'm waiting for new songs! Love it!
It’s Christmas! Thank you to both The Kills and Jack White! Real deal musicians... thank you!!!
This is George Jack White WAS a real musician. His latest album is an insult to his talent.
Nicolas Wackers ha! Jack White if nothing else is always intentional. I guarantee he made genuine choices. Choices that may be driven by concepts less than writing pieces that hit a preferred spot of someone’s musical pallet. But hey, Jack doesn’t need me to defend him.
This is George What are those concepts perchance? I've listened to all his songs and really can't see anything below its ugly surface.

Friggin luv this one.
these are all my kills records i have for now Midnight Boom , Blood Pressures , Ash & Ice and that one live album
One of my favorite covers 🔥
You both meet all my demands. Love you, guys)
I want my money back
I'm down here drowning in your fat
You got me on my knees
Praying for everything you lack
I ain't afraid of you
I'm just a victim of your fears
You cower in your tower
Praying that I'll disappear
I got another plan
One that requires me to stand
On the stage or in the street
Don't need no microphone or beat
And when you hear this song
If you ain't dead sing along
Bang and strum to these here drums
Till you get where you belong
[Chorus]
I got a list of demands
Written on the palm of my hands
I ball my fist, you're gonna
Know where I stand
I'm living hand to mouth
You wanna be somebody? See somebody?
Try and free somebody?
I wrote a song for you today
While I was sitting in my room
I jumped up on my bed today
And I played it on a broom
I didn't think that it would be a song
That you would hear
But when I played it in my head
I made you reappear
I wrote a video for it
And I acted out each part
And then I took your picture out
And taped it to my heart
I've taped you to my heart, dear
I've taped you to my
Heart and if you pull away from me
You'll tear my life apart.
Great great band....great songs
