Stopping a loaded truck quickly and safely requires it to be travelling in a roughly straight line. If that car hadn't have pulled out to avoid the one in front, the truck would have been able to slow enough. Once you start having to avoid other cars while braking heavily in a truck, you've got no chance. Anyway, did the turtle live?
The driver in the black truck should never have stopped in the first place. Then the grey car abruptly swerved into the right lane cutting off the semi...And then the trucker made the last mistake of turning into traffic instead of away off to the right hand side off into the grass...all 3 drivers are idiots...the poor semi driver had a split second to react so we should cut him some slack at the very least
No. People not looking ahead and not paying attention led to the accident. You need to be aware of what's going on ahead of you. These folks clearly haven't driven much in big city traffic. This happens all the time. Not for turtles, but for pedestrians, accidents, stop signs, balls rolling out in the street..you name it. That's why you should leave one car length for every ten miles per hour between you and the car in front of you. There was plenty of time for cars to stop, but no one knows what a brake pedal is anymore! If someone is stopped all they want to do is swerve around without having a clue what might be in the road. This could just as easily been a kid in the road.
This almost happened to me when a person swerved for an already dead dog on the highway. I also hate when drivers think it’s a great idea to just swerve into the next lane like there isn’t someone driving. That also happens on city streets when there’s an obstruction in their lane.
What if there was a car accident, you're just supposed to cause more car accidents? The blame is on the people, especially the one with the camera, driving full speed into cars that are obviously at a complete stop.
Ah yes let's stop presumably a loaded semi in less than 100 feet seems about right first hit looks like it was right on steer tire yanking the wheel from the drivers control
The person shouldn't have stopped for the turtle on what looks like an expressway but the accident was largely caused by impatient people carelessly changing lanes and dangerously passing. The driver of the gray car caused most of the problem.
Deceptive video title. The crash was caused by people tailgating and not giving themselves enough room to stop, not by a driver stopping for an animal. All of you people getting mad at the driver for stopping for an animal are immoral people.

Doesnt matter if it was a turtle or a child in the highway That unattentive driver braking late and ending up lane switching causing the truck crash lol Glue your eyes on the road
@@everydaydose7779 Mm, but it does matter. One situation is a good reason for abruptly stopping at the head of a long line of traffic at highway speed. The other situation is a bad reason. This is where having a working brain comes into the picture. Without that somebody will do something stupid and create a problem that did not need to be created. You see, the turtle lover was inattentive. He acted without considering the consequences and caused an accident. If the turtle lover had had his wits about him he (and was also actually attentive) he would have seen the turtle with plenty of time to steer around the animal, and give drivers behind a chance to do the same. This is what it really means to be attentive and thoughtful, which is what makes stopping for the turtle as he did a brain dead move. He should have put more thought into his decision.
Nah, its entirely the fault of the grey car. The truck could have been stopped for ANY reason, it just so happened to be a turtle(which if run over at the right angle could cause another accident), but it could have been a car crash, or a lost child, or their car could have completely broken down in the middle of the road. The hazard lights were on, its entirely up to the drivers behind them to navigate around them safely.
Not saying the truck driver is absolved. But the white car slammed on their brakes with plenty of room causing the grey car to swerve. Now if the grey car was paying attention and had swerved to the left, everyone would’ve been fine. But we have 3 geniuses on the road in the video. 3 people at fault.

People it doesn't have to be a turtle for you to stop. A person or a large deer can be crossing, or a broken down vehicle. It happens all the time in big cities. you are supposed to stop or slow down. the point is people are way too close to people from behind and are not looking far ahead on the road. Also are also inconsiderate of other drivers so they would rather swervs off lane or in another lane because they are wrecklessly speeding. You guys would not survive on busy unpredectible freeway. Where wrecks can stop a bunch of cars in seconds notice. Don't speed and look miles ahead pay attention to the cars breaking ahead of you and always leave enough space for you to urgently brake. You don't know who is in the vehicle ahead of you and beyond there could be children in the vehicles that could be fatally injured because you did not brake in time.

As a truck driver is very important to keep you eyes up a head at all time maybe the truck driver could've at least had chance to slow down and take the shoulder to the right side
That driver in the Gray ford focus is equally as wrong as the driver of the pickup who got out of their vehicle to save a turtle. The driver in the focus has ABS on that vehicle it's an early 2000 model. It would be better for him just to slam on the brakes and coast to the left onto the shoulder however , the driver decided to cut off I believe it was a semi truck and then continue to slow down Possibly to get a look at what was going on which is called rubber necking. If the driver would have proceeded to stop in his current lane the semi truck would not have to swerve in return causing a major accident

Well technically it was the gray car that thought it could all of a sudden weave that caused the crash, also I'm pretty sure turtles can cause crashes when hit or run over at high speeds, so I'd say it was a worthy reason to stop
No, technically it was the person's fault who stopped to let a turtle cross the highway

Stopping a loaded truck quickly and safely requires it to be travelling in a roughly straight line. If that car hadn't have pulled out to avoid the one in front, the truck would have been able to slow enough. Once you start having to avoid other cars while braking heavily in a truck, you've got no chance.

Espically while on a busy road.
Quote from the main article:
“P.S. The turtle survived and is now living happily ever after in a pond where he will (hopefully) spend the rest of his days avoiding pavement of any kind,” deputies wrote.
