I had found a pre-CBS Deluxe Reverb in a resale shop for $199. A carpenter/Church tag was tied on it. The front grill was used as a place to install a new speaker, but never was changed. I have a friend who works on amps all day, who was able to restore it - a well done restoration ~ thanks Radar
Great tone and very nice long tail reverb, good playing, good amp.. and I would be happy with the speaker, and not even think about changing it. This is about the best sounding Deluxe Reverb I have heard online!
Thanks so much for sharing Tomo, my playing partner once upon a time had a deluxe similar to the one you were playing and he would crank it up a bit and man this thing sounded so sweet at the breaking point, just the amp and some reverb, nothing else and then dropped the volume down and it would clean up really nicely like the way you were playing, can't wait for the speaker change, really looking forward to that!
Just acquired a 69 Deluxe Reverb silver face for $300.00 in great condition. Cabinet is dinged up in places and there are cigarette burns on the top but to me it’s all good, it only adds to this amp’s story. The speaker was swapped out at some point with a celestion blue Alnico. The amp sounds awesome, i do have 2 microphonic preamp tubes. So it’s time to re tube the amp. I feel i got this amp at an absolute steal. So new tubes and maybe some caps doesn’t hurt my feelings one bit. This thing sounds absolutely amazing. So i can only imagine what i will have when it’s freshened up. 🌴👍👍😎🌴
That amps sounds awesome...even through cellphone speakers. I had to stop combing my hair to listen more closely. I especially liked the Strat tone through it. I'm curious, what brand of tubes are in it? 😊
I've owned one of these late silverface Deluxe Reverbs since I was a teen in the early 1980's. Mine is a 79, with the "pull for boost" on the volume control. The "boost" feature is enormously bad. Just don't use it, and it is pure Deluxe Reverb. Amp has always been great. I put in a Reverend Alltone 1250 speaker in the early/mid 2000's.
I have the same amp and it's wonderful. Any way you'd consider doing a Lets Listen Together on some Red Hot Chili Peppers? Thanks for your videos, you've made me a better musician!

Hi Tomo, I just bought a set of your Grinning Dog pickups. They are from 2014. Have there been changes to your signature pickups since that time?
My Grinning Dog Pickups are all custom orders. Same as since 2014!

The Fender Deluxe Reverb is my favorite amp.
Would be so kind as to share your settings?
Awesome! Each amp has different sweet spot and number is all different. Volume 3, Treble 6-7, Bass 3-4, a little reverb. Thank you.
