- Check out the official SLUURP concept trailer for Netflix's Live-Action Pokemon Series. Following the commercial success of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, it seemed inevitable that other live-action Pokémon adventures would be adapted for the big and small screen. The Ryan Reynolds-led film is said to be getting a sequel, but Netflix is also developing a live-action Pokémon film. In recent years, Netflix has been the home of numerous Pokémon anime series, with Pokémon Indigo League and Pokémon Master Journeys available to watch on the streaming platform
According to The Illuminerdi, Netflix is making a live-action Pokémon feature that will link up with their next Pokémon series. The film will not be a sequel to the recently released Detective Pikachu, but rather a reboot of the franchise. There is currently no information on the film’s premiere date or if it will follow the television series or after it.

NEWS ABOUT THE PROJECT 📰
In July 2021, Variety reported that a new Pokemon series is in early development at Netflix. The show is still in early development so no details are available about the plot.Joe Henderson is attached to write and executive produce. Henderson currently serves as co-showrunner and executive producer on the popular Netflix series “Lucifer,” which wrapped up its final season at the streaming giant.
It is also being reported that the project would be a live-action series akin to the “Detective Pikachu” film starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith that was released in 2019. The move to develop an original Netflix Pokemon series comes as the streamer has made itself the home to multiple existing Pokemon shows, including “Pokemon: Indigo League” and “Pokemon Journeys” among others. Netflix has also been making a strong push into anime in recent years, having previously announced original series based on “Far Cry,” “Splinter Cell,” and “Terminator.” Netflix has been moving into more live-action adaptations of anime titles as well, including the upcoming “Cowboy Bebop” and “One Piece” live-action shows. The streamer previously released a live-action “Death Note” film in 2017.

I feel like a live action adaptation of the entire series is a must. This is straight fire and would sell. One of the best IPs out there and nothing is done with it.

This is an amazing concept; I think it would be really cool to have a live action series of Pokémon. I also think that it should be base off of the Pokémon indigo league series, kind of like a what if. Like what if ash did not part from misty and brock, what would happen? What if ash did not meet misty and brock, or what if a different character joins in as the main character in that series instead of ash, like red. Netflix definitely needs to make a series like this or a movie, I think it would be amazing.

As a caveman from the Red/Blue game boy days, its amazing to see how much this game series has evolved (lol) since 1997 when I first started playing Blue version. I've missed a number of games in the interim, but I just started playing Scarlet and holy crap, what a game. Definitely gonna finish this one.

I didn't even read the title properly I was getting so hyped and excited to watch it on netflix then saw it's a concept of what could be I was so fooled
Funny I reminisced earlier playing the original game boy and all the Pokémon games, I bought each one. Played endless hours on each one and beat each one always capturing all the rarest Pokémon I wanted, those were the good days
I like that the Ultra Ball at the end has the 'H' for it's original Hyper Ball designation.
The GameBoy was missing its protective screen overlay… I am very disappointed and quite livid at the utter mistreatment of such a vintage classic of a portable handheld video game entertainment device…

I recognize some scenes from other, various clips made by several other content creators. That said, THIS MUST HAPPEN!! For real, Disney has been doing it for a while, live-action reinterpretations of their own animated classics!
@Conrad Niemand Ummm...you missed my point entirely. Never once did I state Disney should have anything with Pokémon. I stated that Pokémon should do a live action reinterpretation of the show, something that Disney has done with their own creations (The Jungle Book, Mulan, The Lion King, etc).

I think a live action series fills the need in for the long time fans that are sort’ve forced to take a seat over the kids for every new Gen and watch Ash essentially be reset maturity and skill wise. Even something like Pokémon origins was amazing because it showed the gritty side of Pokémon.

Even though this trailer is fanmade (and very well done too), I’m still looking forward to the live-action Pokémon series. It entered pre-production last month so it's still going to be awhile, but I'm excited for it. I just hope Netflix doesn’t screw it up. I mean, look at what they did to Death Note, lol.

Very interesting concept indeed. As a huge fan of the Pokemon franchise and collecting the cards myself. I too myself have been writhing down my own ideas for a live action series and ideas for short films as well. Apparently I’m not going to say what they are because I do not want anyone to steal my ideas. But anyway this indeed is a good and interesting concept and vision. And I was impressed. You guys can correct me if I’m wrong. But I heard that there is going to be a 9th generation of Pokemon coming some what next year and I’m super excited for it!

If there's one thing the Detective Pikachu movie got right, it was the graphics,dubbing and Pokemon design, everything involving Pokemon in the movies was a 10 they don't need monstrous design even though the human actors were experienced and did their job!
