According to videos I've seen of Dave playing, the main riff moves UP the neck towards the nut and ends on a F power chord on the D G B strings, which makes sense since you can repeat the riff without traveling from the same chord on the 8th fret down the neck, like the guy in the video is playing. Yeah, it's a tricky riff. This tune dropped when I was just getting started and I could'nt play it either. It's in standard tuning.
I was like "I'll stick around!!!" Then I was like... Yeaaah... I'll stick around... (Along with gentle foot tap and head nod) cooool!! Brought me back :)))
This is great for beginners. Much easier than buying the whole transcribed album tab literature like I used to have to pay for before the Internet became huge on a 14.4 baud
Big Muff w/ Wicker is an incredible value at $90 new. I like to turn down the volume on my guitar and add a wah as a treble boost to get a tone bender-esq sound.
The names given to the chords (A#? D#) betrays a lack of basic music theory understanding vis-a-vis major/minor relativity, but otherwise a decent lesson.
"G6sus2no5/E" and that's what happens when you give a guitar to a drummer.
Huh?
*jazz guy
to the two people who didn’t get the joke, dave grohl was the drummer for nirvana before foo fighters
😂
Cool lesson, I never knew he used such unusual chords in the verse
I think that's the first time I've ever heard him be called 'David Grohl.'
Big Muffs always sound fucking fantastic. Dunno what I would do without one

@Noartist i dont think youve seen him play the high D#, instead of playing it x688xx on the A string he plays on the D string (xx134x)
I think the rat was the distortion pedal for this song, but that tone wicker muff sounds so awesome for this!

Finally someone with ears.. Nice work!. These cool verse chords/pre chorus chords are a direct influence from Alex Lifeson, one of Dave's Heroes!
I'm pretty sure Dave used a Pro Co Rat for his tone, and still does for his heavier tones.
Cool chords! Good channel, cheers from Colombia!
One of the first songs I ever learned - thanks for bringing me back! Classic track

8 years later its nearly twice that new
2:40, actually begins demonstrating the song. and to quote another user "where Dave screams "I'll Stick Around", the chords are D#, F7, G, D".
It's an awesome song, but quite a work out on the main riff if you're playing at full speed.
Yeah...that main riff is no joke. The way it ends quickly on the F is a bitch to play. Let alone play AND sing ..
6 years late...but idk how they do it. Play these fast riffs and sing at the same time.
@@84kjk listen to some primus if you want to see someone play complex stuff and sing. or megadeth
Hey andy... do this... do that... how do you deal with tools telling you what to do all the time? Awesome lessons :)
G6sus2no5/E.... wouldn't it just be easier to list the notes in the chord? I think that's the limit of short hand chord notation.
I confused if with Alone and easy target. Put a capo on the first fret and it's much easier to play.
This lesson is for real. It's rare to see a guitar player notice the high power chord at the tail end of the main riff.
What a unique and weird song. It sounds normal but the chords are very odd and not commonly seen.
Chord progession i should say
Anyone tab this out? Would be easier than trying to figure out where Andy's fingers are
what kinda burst is on his les paul ?
The main riff is real tricky to play ..strum hand wise. Weird rhythmically
The chord names might make more sense if described in flats - G-Eb-Bb-C-F
I'm pretty sure he used a ProCo Rat on that whole album, the Big Muff gets kinda muddy here.
Andy, is this your personal Les Paul? I see you use it in a lot of demos-
Da sind wohl zwei Stimmen zusammen gemischt ??
Actually, this song was on the second album wasn't it?
No, it was on the first one.
yep, you're right.
No! Actually no! No! It wasn't!,
it's in drop D!!!!!!
Ummm......no it's not!!!!!!
DINGIR13 no it's not

That Les Paul...
nah.
should be in drop d tuning.
from when the Foo Fighters were good
Yea bc they sounded more like nirvana. They pretty much turned into a super generic dad rock band
Muddy sound
