- After a seven-week trial and a three-day deliberation (Jan 6, 1989-Feb 14, 1989), the jury decided the late Rock Hudson had conspired with his secretary to keep his disease hidden from his live-in lover Marc Christian, so they could continue to have sex and awarded Marc Christian $14.5million in compensatory damages the previous day(Feb 15, 1989). The next day they would return to decide the punitive damages only against the other defendant Mark Miller, meanwhile Marc Christian’s attorney Harold Rhoden would ask the jury to double that award as a message to the world that people with AIDS have a duty to warn their partners.

True story. I backpacked all over Asia in the early 80’s. I was in Bangkok on a boat in clong ( canal ) and this song was blasting through the neighbourhood. I’ll never forget it! 😊

Why. Marc Christian paved the way for others that were not informed about their lovers HIV status. People had been killed for refusing to reveal their status to those they put at risk.
