I must've watched like 10 videos on how to do this properly and while the others talked about the importance of hinging and not squatting, she's the first one here who answered my questions about the arms, head, and shoulders and gave better cues as well imo. I'm going to keep referring back to this video to refine my technique.
@@donnatecce1884 She is saying that to explain external shoulder rotation. That allows shoulder to rotate outwards which allows shoulder to move more freely and also it will engage Lats (mid back). External rotation mean rotating shoulders so elbows are pointing down. Internal rotation, your elbows will be pointing out. She is saying snap the handle (to make you put thumb/index finger up and pinky down) to make people rotate shoulder externally but sometimes people just twist wrists. Make sure you are rotating/twisting shoulder so your elbow is down and bicep is up.
@@donnatecce1884 Basically, when you are gripping the handle, try to apply pressure with your hands the way you would if you were try to snap a pencil.
I’ve been on and off with kettlebells for quite a few (many) years now… Reason- I knew my swing was ‘off’, but I just didn’t know why? Despite watching heaps and heaps of RUclips videos- I just couldn’t self-diagnose (or see) my swing faults… Everyone gets the hip-hinge… but that’s only one element of the swing. Until now! Such simple swing queues, yet never explained so clearly before this. ‘Snap’ that handle- squeeze and ‘hold’ those glutes- always look straight ahead- don’t over extend the hips forward, and others… Yes all obvious (now) but never explained so succinctly, as in this video. Great Stuff- Thank You.
Honestly this was the most helpful tutorial ever… I am returning to the gym and can say I’ve been self conscious of my form and getting things right, can honestly say her tips to set up the position for the exercise helped a lot
Oh well. Saw this video like a year ago. And now i'm doin' 10000 kettlebell swing/month challenge. After today's morning I have a 4500 swings on my list. Thanks guys! You are great! Peaceful Sky to you!
This young lady has always been dope, better than most men. I'm glad I found this video because all the videos I watched never locked in my form, so you felt the efficiency of it. This video setup with the kettlebell is the truth.
Amazing cues, especially for the starting position. I'm making my second attempt at the ten thousand swing challenge and needed specific things she addressed to be cleared up, because it's difficult to know if I'm doing things correctly. I've heard the grip philosophy and engaged top arm position she demonstrated described as T-Rexing [in the pejorative sense]. She did a great job clearing up swing height and not to obsess about it, and also where to places the force generation. I got a lot from this and look forward to applying it in a few moments during my workout. I'll look for her interview also. She's got a cool voice and great explanations.
I'd never heard the advice about trying to snap the handle to get the shoulders and elbows in a more solid position. I just tried it for a couple sets and I love how much tighter the movement feels with that cue; it also feels like it's working some muscles in my hands and forearms that I probably haven't been using enough. Great video.
Oh, thank you thank you. There are a lot of exercise videos out there that incorporate kettlebells - with NO explanations how to handle them. Lots of flopping the KB around. That "snapping the handle" tip is gold.
Kudos. First female who knows how to properly do a kettlebell swing. Too many hacks (men and women) who think the kettlebell swing is a squat and lift or squat and row. One no-no though is the socks and no shoes.
Beem considering getting kettlebell for working out to help push me to get I shape, can I do these with a hurt knee? I am starting out light and just want to be careful.
My 11yo son has been going to crossfit 3 days a week since May to prepare for tournament baseball. He loves it and he's gotten stronger. I'll be sure to show him this. Thanks for sharing!
At the beginning he said she was an expert with CrossFit, and I thought, "Here comes the overhead swing. (frown)." Hot dog! She did everything right! The words were correct. The moves were correct. He asked great questions and she gave great answers. My one criticism: It seemed to me that both of them could use a heavier bell - his, much heavier.
The 2 handed swing for guys with broad shoulders is pretty hard. I prefer to swing 1 handed and change hands mid air every 10 to 20 reps. I found the best way to learn how to properly kettle bell swing is to thread a towel through the handle and use that to swing. This will force you to use your hips, not your arms, shoulders or back to swing the kettlebell. I also found the correct cadence to be 40 reps per minute.
i am just starting to kettle swing, I am active and go to the gym; what weight limit should I start with, and how do I know if it's too light or too heavy for Me?

What is the snap grip? I've watched it 3x I'm struggling w the difference. Ty

10 out of 10. Love the cues. My favorite lat cue that really works for me is "put your lats in your pockets"
Exactly what I needed! I am beginning the ABA 10k Kettlebell swing challenge and this will help make sure so don’t get hurt!
Wow! She explained it very well and detailed. Good stuff.
Each step is broken down, and very detailed, accompanied by excellent demonstrations; even the beginner can follow, THANK YOU!
I just went through like 10 kettle swing videos not understanding it. Finally did it after watching this one.
Wow I thought I was doing kettle bell swings right this whole time.. after watching your video can’t wait to try these tips! Thank you!
Most impressive thing is that she can talk while swinging, I'm hella impressed. Great cues, thanks!
100% SHE IS DEAD ON !!

Ohh boy she just changed the game for me. The arm position(the lat engagement), the focus on hip hinge thrust❤
Great vid, I feel like every so often I need to hear KB tips like a refresher so I don’t get relaxed in my form.

Excited for the kettle bell series

10,000 swing challenge? That's nuts... how long of a period of time? How do you keep track? 200 sets of 50 reps?

I love the direct way she states things. Is it the most polite way to say it? No. But my dumb ass gets it and I appreciate it.
She sounds like kettlebell guru ,,,, great video ,I'm just a beginner for kettlebell swings and thank you

Kettlebell swings are probably the best exercise for you then. Very low impact (none actually) and very effective
Awesome! That's great advice! 👍
