Aldo H I’ve seen these comments so many times. Nobody is questioning that technology should get better as time goes on, but the jaegers in the second one threw realism out the window. No matter how much they improve, the laws of inertia and the materials we have on earth would not allow them to move with such agility, especially in the given amount of time between the 2 movies. Even pr 1 was a stretch, but they somehow made it seem realistic. Also, IMO, their lack of weight, along with other factors like design and lighting, just took away from the epicness of the fights.
@@AC-pw2xv PR 1 wasn't just a stretch, it was completely unrealistic. Master Penguin So, you rather make something quickly and get next to no money. (The only reason uprising made a lot of money at box office is because people wanted to see what would happen after pacific rim 1. It rode of the Pacific Rim hype train). Or would you rather wait, and earn lots of money. Like they say, a rushed game is bad, but a delayed game is eventually good, it this term movies. So yeah, that guy was right. They should’ve waited for Del Toro to finish making hellboy.
The jaegers in pacific rim actually looked and felt real and actually looks like something you'd see I real life same goes for the kaiju too and that's why I love it so much.
I think the Precursors’ plan in Uprising WAS their original plan until Newt tapped into that Kaiju brain fragment. At that point, they changed their game plan, and sent two Kaiju (Otachi and Leatherback) after him before he could spill any more of their secrets. When that failed, they deployed three more Kaiju (Scunner, Raiju, and Slattern) and put them on defense.
That doesn't make sense Otachi can literally fly, and that means the precursor had the know-how to make a flying kaiju That being the case, if their objective was to get a kaiju into Mt Fuji, they could have done so in a way that rendered jaegers completely useless (nevermind the fact most kaiju go in a completely different direction rather than Japan, the first one reaches America ffs)
This is why I say I set my expectations and standards very low. High expectations almost always lead to disappointment. This way you can appreciate good stuff even more.
Jake: We're gonna bring the fight to you Precursors: Sure, let's just mass produce 50 mega-kaiju and wait for you to bring all 4 of your little buggers down here
The first movie the robots felt like there own entity, like a gigantic monster fighting robot. But in pacific rim uprising, it just felt like humans inside some mechanical armour.
It was only a Cat 1. But, yeah, Finn should have chased the RABIT instead of Amara, and we'd see him fail and disappoint his father. Wouldn't even need to have Idris Ebda voice or act as Stacker Pentecost, could just use a younger stand-in. Diamnondbolt's interpretation of the scene is hilarious, though. The crappy photoshop makes it even better.
If I recall correctly it was a cat 3. It was defeated by striker eureka and the 3rd American jeager ( mk IV ) idk it's name again. I was so hoping they would show the fight because that scene with amara at the santa monica pier was right out of the Pacific rim comic. But no, sadly it didn't happen
Boisegang dude the very first Kaiju sent through the Breach was friggin enormous and each one following it was either slightly smaller or even bigger. What advantage would there be to sending in a tiny one? Edit: Just googled it and it has no category, on a wiki its labeled with "no category"
Also, some of the weapons were poorly used. For example: Gypsy's Gravity Sling: *only used debris as projectiles against Kaiju, instead of the actual Kaiju* The orange one's electric swords (only because I don't know it's name): *used only once, then just spin kicked several times* The one I like to call "Bulkhead's stunt double" 's spike ball: *used once, then just used the hip guns*
This an idea I had for a third movie. A prequel to the first film that follows the military as the fight the first few Kaiju before the Jageurs were built. The second half of the movie paints the jageur pilots as enemies to the military for stealing funding and getting all the fame and diminishing need for the military. Would be an interesting change of pace/direction and could expand the pacific rim universe
In my opinion the jaegers weren't even good designs they all looked generic looking comparing to a three armed jaeger or a Russian Jaeger with a weird reactor that looks like a head
Funnily enough I was watching Uprising the other day and my dad walked in and said “you watching transformer” of which I find amusing because people have said it looks like a transformers movie.
"Hey, here's a good idea, let's have a 10 year old build a jaeger without any explanation. Like at all. Then after like a week of failing at the academy, let's have her replace the most competent pilot in the most powerful jaeger because because. This will surely go over well."
Hollywood better not touch Gundam with their filthy, franchise disrespecting hands. I can almost guarantee it would end up being Dragonball: Evolution levels of bad.
Never make a movie from an anime show. Only one that was pretty good bc it had Scarlett Johansson in it, was Ghost in The Shell. I think that is what it was called, I can't remember, haven't watched it in a while
@@samuelbaker8724 Sunrise is supervising the Gundam Movie's development. They just need the Legendary to do the CGI and writing, with Sunrise mostly at the wheel i am pretty hopeful for it.

Original: every jaeger has their own spot in the shatter dome with tons of people doing different things Sequel: Every jaeger gets to walk around wherever and whenever they want and they are just stored in a giant warehouse all next to each other
How to replace Pacific Rim Uprising whilst keeping some of the ideas: Can Jaegers be piloted by one person? Yes, but only for so long. After a certain period of time the mind will begin to reach its limit. After a secondary "Caution" time, the mind reaches its absolute limit and enters a "DANGER!" phase where further use of the Jaeger will start to cause irrepairable damage to the pilot's mind. Some indiscernable (varies depending on the pilot and the situation), the mind will die and both the Jaeger and its pilot will collapse. It could be good for the plot to put huge expectations onto their cadets, expectations that affect each cadet in its own way. Some welcome the challenge and push themselves further to surpass those expectations and prove their worth while others are just about shattered by them. Some cadets enjoy their time in a Jaeger, describing it as "freeing" and "empowering" while others might relate it to the myth of Atlas carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. This offers interesting character dynamics and plenty of room for character growth. Of course the movie should have at least one scene where eveything is going to shit with some classical music playing in the background. Oh yeah, and character death. Have one die early on and the movie will put this lingering fear onto the viewer by letting them know that literally any character could die at any point in any fight. The best thing for Pacific Rim is to hang onto those Neon Genesis Evangelion inspirations.
I was under the assumption that they were in a jeager training program. Which is why they knew how to pilot them. I thought it was inferred that they did multiple simulations and they allowed them to pilot the jeagers. but they still didn't win and got their asses handed to them in the end.
They were in training, not done with training, so they clearly weren't adequate pilots yet. And as a teenager myself, most of us are pretty stupid and don't exactly excel under high levels of pressure
We don’t need a April fools vid from Bolt, his vids are good enough without. (Although it would have been nice to have top 10 hottest transformers part 2)
What I hated was the immense lack of creativity on display. The worst thing you can do when making a sequel to an alien invasion movie is to have the aliens come back. Why not go to the alien world and see what that place is like?

24 frames of nick did a video explaining why the fight scenes are realistic in the first film over the sequel
This movie is Megacrap...
6:38 the best plot for Pacific rim ever
Yes
Original pacific rim: serious, apocalyptic theme
Uprising: HAHA YES FUTURISTIC ROBOTS FIGHT GIANT KAIJU VERY BRIGHT COLORS POWER RANGERS GO BRRR
Almost thought was a April fools joke
XxGorutoxX nope still ruined forever
I liked how they didn’t give Jake a love interest and had the teenager as a Brother sister relationship
Yeah, i agree
Thank you for playing a cruel angels thesis at 6:13
If they bring back Mako to life, and have Guillermo Del Toro direct the next Pacific Rim, it will all be fine.
So pretend Uprising didn't happen - make real Pacific Rim 2.
@@apex2000 Honestly that would make me happy

create a remake via time rift.....😆😆😆
apex2000 everyone liked that
Short:
Pacific Rim=Unique
Pacific Rim Uprising=more of a Downfalling, a bad story but with great CGI
Haha, I'm going to start calling it Pacific Rim Downfalling from now on, thanks
I like the original's cgi better
No
When I watch it in theater the CGI is shit though.
I like that movie 😠
I wish they’d make a prequel of Pacific Rim. I wanna see the old mark 1 and mark 2 jaegers in action
Yes it ehud be fun
As an audience member, I enjoyed Uprising
As a prospective director, I could write a 300 page long book on why uprising doesn't work,
i had to google that, what is prospective director do anyway?
A prospective director is just someone who is directing their learning/career path to one day become a director
i learn new vocabulary everyday
But if the audience enjoys it.... then it works. So.....
And looking at the incredibly mixed reception Uprising got, it's safe to say that for a lot of people it didn't work.
U like evagelion and gundam? A man of culture I see
I like Gundam
Me too!
i like evangelion
i like evangelion.
hell yeah evangalion
6:04 what the frick is bulkhead doing in picific rim
Lol Ikr
You take that back. Atlantic Rim is awesome compared to Uprising.
El Gringo Bandito NOPE
Compared to PR: Uprising, Atlantic Rim is a masterpiece.
The CGI of atlantic rim is shit
Ender_Slend's Game
Just like Uprising.
RushOut TM no more like your face
“It could’ve been worse.”
That’s a fair judgement of the film.
That doesn't make sense
Otachi can literally fly, and that means the precursor had the know-how to make a flying kaiju
That being the case, if their objective was to get a kaiju into Mt Fuji, they could have done so in a way that rendered jaegers completely useless (nevermind the fact most kaiju go in a completely different direction rather than Japan, the first one reaches America ffs)
how does drifting with an alien brain even tell the precursors some information you have instantly, what kind of advanced telepathy is this
The reason it’s so bad is because none of them say “why do you fire at me”
*swats you with broom* No!go on get! shoo!
*demonic hissing* why do you swat at me?
Ya boi Soundwave is this your revenge for diamond bolt constantly cheating on you?
Damn right
This is why I say I set my expectations and standards very low. High expectations almost always lead to disappointment. This way you can appreciate good stuff even more.
yep, a friend and I enjoyed the film despite its flaws because our expectations weren't high, so we were pleasantly surprised.
Then this movie shouldn't be a sequel. For course it will be compared to the first
November Ajax in the uprising movie actually moved like a jaeger and got less screen time and didn’t get a very good flexible toy
Jake: We're gonna bring the fight to you
Precursors: Sure, let's just mass produce 50 mega-kaiju and wait for you to bring all 4 of your little buggers down here
I think I will go watch Atlantic rim a true cinematic masterpiece
Don't forget the sequal!
@@kingpablothe1stoverlordoft871 oh god no

Dude you need to tell us more about Atlantic Rim
Ryan Carrell lmao. I know.
you should go watch it lol
sees title this'll be funny...AND I HAVEN'T REGRETED IT!!! love ya videos DB keep up the amazing work
Diamondbolts fantasy and determination is amazing. He is able to make a concept art, ten minute video and custom scenes for a video for us to enjoy
The first movie the robots felt like there own entity, like a gigantic monster fighting robot.
But in pacific rim uprising, it just felt like humans inside some mechanical armour.
No one cares about the weight it is in the future so the jaegers obviously will be faster
Pacific Rim Uprising: Characters?
ha
what's that
Kaiju genre films are notorious for having 1 dimensional characters, so your comment is redundant. Nothing new.
Vibranium Shield Lots of Giant Robot franchises have great characters though.
Me when there's no food in the fridge 4:20
And yes I took a second off but it was worth it.
amara's family death was actually kinda hilarious
Did you notice how small that Kaiju was though? It would only be up to waist height next to a Jaeger.
+Cor sijtsma There's a COMIC!
This is funny when I got the notification for this video I was watching a video on how Pacific Rim is similar to transformers
They aren't really similar. There's more similarities between PR and anime mechas.
Make a quick video of Pacific Rim: The Black
Australians saying "Eureka" turns me on
Oscar Hansen you should meet the eureka 7 fanbase there then
What if they say "Hoover"?
I haven't heard an Australian say hoover before
YOOREAKAH.
life pauses for diamond bolt
Also, some of the weapons were poorly used. For example:
Gypsy's Gravity Sling: *only used debris as projectiles against Kaiju, instead of the actual Kaiju*
The orange one's electric swords (only because I don't know it's name): *used only once, then just spin kicked several times*
The one I like to call "Bulkhead's stunt double" 's spike ball: *used once, then just used the hip guns*
They could have easily used the gravity sling to save Mako. That still makes me so mad.
6:45 is a great summery of the movie lol
8:07 Your prayers have been heard!
Ps. This will be the second live action gundam film since the first one flopped back in 2000.
The jaeger designs are amazing and also the kaiju designs aswell but the story was quite weak compared to the first movie
JURASSIC BOB Did not expect to see you here LOL
In my opinion the jaegers weren't even good designs they all looked generic looking comparing to a three armed jaeger or a Russian Jaeger with a weird reactor that looks like a head
JURASSIC BOB I personally hated all the jaeger designs except the new gipsy and maybe the green wide one
JURASSIC BOB I thought it was too bright compared to the first film
OBSIDIAN FURY'S LOOK IS GOOD TO
Gipsy danger = more GM looking but probably a gundam
Striker ureka = GM-cannon
Cherno alpha = zock
Crimson typhoon = some new-zeon experimental prototype build from scrapped zakus
Cherno alpha: Russian bias

R.I.P Cherno Alpha
Top 1 saddest moment in Pacific Rim(for me).
Hollywood better not touch Gundam with their filthy, franchise disrespecting hands. I can almost guarantee it would end up being Dragonball: Evolution levels of bad.
We don't talk about that movie here or anywhere else
*laughs in g saviour*
Never make a movie from an anime show. Only one that was pretty good bc it had Scarlett Johansson in it, was Ghost in The Shell. I think that is what it was called, I can't remember, haven't watched it in a while

I don’t know why but...pacific rim is the example of a perfect film. I don’t know why but it’s...great. It’s amazing.
In my opinion, it's passable.
Pacfic rim 2 dint rise up after all
Hater bandwagoning much?
F### you
@@iceezombie3454 dude be nicer you jerk
Only rose up in money
Yes it did they made uprising a better pacific rim movie
I was under the assumption that they were in a jeager training program. Which is why they knew how to pilot them. I thought it was inferred that they did multiple simulations and they allowed them to pilot the jeagers. but they still didn't win and got their asses handed to them in the end.
exactly. also, they had newer and easier to use models.
They were in training, not done with training, so they clearly weren't adequate pilots yet. And as a teenager myself, most of us are pretty stupid and don't exactly excel under high levels of pressure
I enjoyed the kaiju drones and obsidian fury the most. They felt like they had weight and were actually dangerous.

What I hated was the immense lack of creativity on display. The worst thing you can do when making a sequel to an alien invasion movie is to have the aliens come back. Why not go to the alien world and see what that place is like?
Exactly! That was the same issue with Independence Day Resurgence.
Dr. Madd the aliens didn’t come back only like three but they were already on the planet
At least it wasn’t like, “Oh no! There’s another hecking hole that the Kaijus come out of now.” Atlantic Rim, Antarctic Rim, etc.
From what you said at 14:36 , I feel like Godzilla was made by the precursors but they lost control of him and somehow fighting Kaijus. That how it should have been done.
