Uprising: How To Ruin The Pacific Rim Universe
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 мар 2024
- Pacific Rim Uprising, a movie so bad it not only got banished from it's own community but it was also wiped from everyone's memory. Pacific rim has no sequel. But aside from that fact, there were a lot of problems in this movie that could have been fixed to make it so much better, and I go over many of these things in detail in this video. Pacific rim is still a really good movie even today in 2024, with great action and one of the best sci fi and monster settings. It really deserved a prequel, not this sequel. Hope you enjoy and have a brilliant day :D

its incredible how he made a video about a movie that doesn't exist
That joke was never funny. It does exist whether you want it to or not
@@jw_gojifan19 The fuck are you on about? Of course it doesn't exsist!
@@jw_gojifan19i think you should go touch grass buddy if you're online for this long thinking this fan film was made by Legendary😂
I touch grass everyday bub. I do have a life. It’s just sad to see how bad people cope in outright denying a films existence when films like disney Star Wars exists.
News flash, Pacific Rim Uprising was made by legendary, directed by Steven S Deknight and stars John Boyega.
Simple Facts
@@jw_gojifan19 judging on how many times you argue with online strangers with no source saying it's "simple facts" about a fictional movie, i highly doubt you have any life other than digital ones

>Proceeds to turn her into a Pilot instead of a Engineer.
i mean... WHAT THE FUCK!?
i mean, she DID pilot it, and showed some proficiency with it. i mean, its not much of a good reason when she literally built her own mini-jaeger, but its still a somewhat reasonable decision.
@@the8626 The crux of the first movie isn't finding someone who can proficiently pilot a jaeger but finding two people who can sync with each other without killing one another. There were loads of guys qualified to pilot a jeager. The hard part was finding a pair that can sync.
Are you fuked in the head. Engineers and Pilots are 2 different thing. With tech as high and complex as Yeager's you can only be good at one field. Engineer, ground crew & pilots make sense ???
@@SimonMoreal What do you mean "first" movie? Is there is a "second" movie?
@@Scientist19exeno, this is hypothetical talk
Still remember getting so excited for the sequel, just to find out the Jaegers were running like Power Rangers 😢
I wouldn't mind if the jaegers moved faster. But they should have did what Striker Eureka did. Still make it really sound that the gears and machine inside are struggling to make such a heavy hunk of steel move at such high speed.
@@lezanoloserio7944yep. That's what they really missed in the sequel: mechanical aspects. In PR 2013, we could see clearly how the pistons and hydraulics work and connected to each other. Jaeger in the sequel... Just moves. That's it.

To this day I have never seen this movie and I have never once regretted it.
Same here
worth watching just to compare it to the original honestly
Lucky bastard
It’s honestly not bad. Just sucks that literally everything was spoiled in the trailers leading up to its release
Save yourself the heartbreak.
If i remember correctly, the director of this film said his problem with the first one was the bots moved too slow and felt borrong at times.
So yeah the director of this one literally did not understand what made the first one so special at all.
And movements is not the only department where this is evident
BUt he's right. I mena its not boring but damn do they move slow. They don't need to move slow to show weight. Thats not how you show it. Large things movcing fast is perfectly fine when you show it correct. Indeed there lot os of scenes in the first film where the robots move FAST. Certainly as fast as they do in this film. Its just the way its framed ands shown. Thats first charging jump Gypsey Danger does against the Leatherback is really damned fast. What make it looks look wegiht is ALL in the impacts.
The robots moving fast in teh new movie is fine. I mean its better than fine. Wher eit actually lacks is the attacks sometimes (not all) lack that weight or impact. Othe rtimes they have it.
This is really just a case (like most fiulm things) of folk being told somethign and then thinking and repeating it without actually comparing or rewatchign both films.
Like the complaints abotu the sequel star wars films breakign canon when they don't, they actually stick to canon established in the original movies, kinda boringly religiously actually.
Stop repeating what youtuber tell you and make up your own mind.
Ha sorry its like folk say jurassic Parks CGI holds up now haha.
Have you all watched again recently? Watch it right after watching some modern good cgi. It really doens't hold up. It has scaling issues and positional issues. Sure its great for teh time but how its FRAMED is what carries it. Shot composition make sit work. Just teh CGI alone would not carry it because its really nto not aged well. The CGI in Jurassic Park The Lost world is by order of magnitude better than the original film. Like its nto even a close thing at all.
@@kudosbudo the problem's not the CGI, as you already know it's how they have no weight most of the time. Plus the movies lacks build-up and tells, not show. It's not a bad movie by standard but it's really lacking as a pacific rim movie.
It wasn't the director, it was the lead actor of the film (John what's his name) who was a simultaneous producer of the film who said the jaegers felt too slow in the first film.
@@kudosbudothat’s a very inaccurate comparison and actually extremely wrong, comparing Gypsy’s run into leather back vs what the jeagers do in the second film is the equivalent of saying hey that semi truck hit 120 mph after 7 minutes vs that hyper car, you can see and watch the momentum build up and also be extremely hard to stop, vs the new film just instantly gaining speed and hoping off buildings, as for the cgi it holds up amazingly especially against the garbage that’s dropping now

Nah, putting kids into giant robots is the staple of the Genre.

I dunno...new generation of Jaeger pilots specifically engineered and raised to be drift compatible for example.
@@PositiveBlackSoulthat sounds like a good idea but personally imo having military grade pilots would be much better, because between film 1 and 2 they had YEARS to train basically a small army of drift compatible pilots but they resorted to training kids? Remember this movie coming out back in middle school and was excited for it. Now that I’m in college looking back on it can definitely see why this movie was received poorly. I really think they should’ve made pacific rim the black a movie instead of uprising ngl. Show had a much more interesting concept
Agreed. I also wish they made a "Pacific Rim: Origins" movie of how it all started & the beginning of the jaeger program.
Personally my favorite part of any zombie movie/show is in the beginning where you see normal life slowly collapse. I think witnessing that in the Pacific Rim universe would truly be something special...
@@FilmJunk1e I think the first season of pacific rim the black actually captured that pretty ok for the most part.

Another thing is the pilot suits. Before each one was unique and gave a unique feel that matches the jaeger. In uprising they all have the same armour which looks like some cheap foam on a crappy black undershirt and pants
This video was really good, I've always wondered how a bad version of Pacific Rim would be if there was, thank god this is just hypothetical and there isn't
Worst trait in this movie: no more walking robot in water 😢

Im a big gundam fan
And comparing the size these jaegers easily eclipse even 115m tall mobile armors in gundam by almost double or triple
And those mobile armors simply either stayed still shooting beams or zipped around like a gigantic spaceship
The fact that the jaegers were slow emphasized the extreme price of speed that it had to pay for mobility
So seeing the new jaegers part of me wants to believe the advancement of tech helped but knowing that it wasnt long between the two movies and the amount of jaegers produced, as well as *OVER 4 FREAKING GENERATIONS OF JAEGERS HOLY MOLY* detracted from this
Also yeah i agree making Amara *that* overpowered really didnt leave her with much to grow as a character, and Jake really couldve done with either a callback to his thug life or better development

In defense of Amara building a Jaeger (specifically that part) she didn't design it, nor did she make up the science. In the prequel comic that was released up until Uprising did, it was going over Amara and her story. Long story short, orphan girl adopted by genius scientist that made an AI dog and was building a Jaeger to fight off the mob. Scientist, dog, and third lady all die, leaving Amara alone. She takes the plans the scientist left and rebuilt the Jaeger after it was destroyed out of SCRAP. A normal Jaeger is made out of things like armored steel or other such durable metals, aside from some more high tech parts, Scrapper is just...a bunch of scrap strapped together. I believe the comic also said that she was taught by the Scientist a bit, hence why she was able to read it, but it's been so long I can't remember. Obviously that doesn't help because the MOVIE doesn't say that, or give much more of her story other than an offhanded remark, but hey, most people aren't aware of the comic so I figured I'd bring it up.
Wow I didn't even know this entire backstory existed. Wonder if they excluded it cause of budget/time constraints
@@FilmJunk1e who's to say really, the fact that they spent money on a prequel comic but didn't bother bringing it up is strange to say the least.

Hello great video but i believe that they said in the first movie about the mark 1 jaegers and the prototypes are that the mark 1s were rushed and nuclear powered with no radiation shielding (expect for some ones like cherno alpha) and the pilots being dead by just the first drift they made was before they thought of putting two people in a giant machine plus they said that it was too much for one person to drift alone.

I've never seen these movies. But saying that the drones use Kaiju body parts for the drones makes me instantly think of Evangelion since they are repurposed Angel corpses used to fight other Angels in which if the pilot is out of sync the Angel Mech goes nuts. Now I don't know the details of those movies since I've never seen them but that's what this sounds like since those came out a decade or two ago before Pacific Rim.
Now this is a good analysis, no hating, no harsh opinion, just correcting the situation.
I mean there's definitely a lot of hatin but it's justified
Little jimmy did a fantastic job at his summer holiday project!
With Uprising, I always remember that stupid advertisement for, I think it was a new tablet or something. The woman is like, "Where do we land giant robots? Oh, here's an open field in this city. I'll circle it with this new tablet and that will make it into the movie." The fact that some woman was just basically idly using google maps or something and got to be part of the marketing for the movie and that whatever gadget still blows my mind. Incredibly low effort like that is why I remembered that movie existed a couple years after it came out and only then finally watched it. I've seen the first one many times.
I can make an exception for saber Athena with its movement because it's a mark 7 and made lighter, faster, etc. the rest got no excuse. The only jeager I liked in the movie was November Ajax.
How is this guy so underrated?????
Great video...such a shame it's about a movie that he conjured up in a make-believe fantasy land.
The thing that got me is the Yaeger with the machine gun on the track. The barrels are absolutely massive, probably even bigger than battleship main guns. Those things firing should blow out every window in the city, and yet... It sounds like a machine gun out of call of duty with no impact at all.
Hopefully they use your great movie advice to make a Pacific Rim Sequel
13:00 When Dante and Vergil are swinging at each other in DMC3 they are moving so fast that water stop falling on them for a moment until they clash and push their blades at each other.
12:56 Water is actually one of the worst ways to tell scale because it behaves exactly the same no matter the size (to a minimum). Basically there's no way to tell if we're staring at a miniature (toy-sized), a human wearing a costume, or a giant robot because the water will behave the same way. Try it if you don't believe me 😮.
Edit: legit just have a look at any shots (not just in the movies) in the middle of the ocean. It's never possible to tell how big things are unless a fish or bird passes by. If the USA hadn't used battleships for their nuclear underwater test (Baker test), we'd have no idea of the scale of the explosion.
So happy this fan project didnt see the light of the day, Still hoping fo r the sequel tho.
I didn’t know this guy made videos about Pacific Rim fan fiction
I think one of the main reasons modern movies feel different and worse than old movies is the aspect ratio. They really need to dump the 21:9 and go back to full-screen. It looks much more immersive when the movie fills the entire screen. It gets easier to notice little details and dive into the cinematographic experience
The original pacific rim is one of my all time favorite movies, when i saw the 2nd one, its hard to describe that feeling i felt, it was like seeing the last jedi of the star wars series
(6:56)”And all the robots go boom” 😂😂😂
One thing that stuck out to me from this vid was something about Amara's big sin of telling us all about how cool the Jaegers are instead of showing, something that, when you think about it, makes it even more vapid.
From a story perspective, every Jaeger she gushes over doesn't earn it. ALL were built well after the last Jaegers to actually fight a Kaiju exploded at the bottom of the ocean several years previously. So what the hell have any of them been doing to earn such a glowing reputation, and why the hell aren't we watching that movie? If it wasn't some Jaeger vs. Jaeger event in the past that earned their stripes in the characters' minds, then the only answer is it's just a case of her liking them because she thinks they look cool - which is hard to believe when all look so generic.
What would I have done for a sequel? How about exploring the ramifications of Jaegers existing in a post Kaiju world? With no more unifying enemy to fight, would it be a sort of cold-war with giant robots instead of nukes? What if Obsidian Fury's purpose was to tip the balance and spark off the final mecha thunderdome instead of... whatever the F uprising was doing. Uprising was way too bright and filled with Power Rangers flips (hell, the Power Rangers film actually did a better Jaeger than Uprising). Pacific Rim isn't Marvel - it's dark and gritty with a side of cheese.
