i learn alot from your videos! like even though im on a mechanics course, i learn more from you, like 3 main components are flywheel clutch plate and pressure plate, and you didn't even day it haha, i normally don't remember this but i do now so im really glad i found your channel! keep it up The Savage Garage
There's no point in using a torque wrench if you use thread lock paste.. The paste wil increase the resistance when screwing the bolt, so you actually don't have the bolt tightened to whatever torque you think it is tightened.. These bolts are "dry" tightened, just renew the bolts and tap clean the interior thread.. Love your work!
Thank you The Savage Garage for making so cool and in the same time usefull videos.☺👌 Can you share with us what kind of clutch replacement tool for adjustment you used in video?
That motor seems to be about the same size as the geo metro 1 liters we have here. Small engines like these aren't and haven't been too popular here in the us. Though they are gaining some popularity as the fiesta has the 3cyl option here now as well as the focus.
I have noticed you Americans like your big 3L+ engines! Small hot hatchback cats with small but well tuned engines seem to be a bigger scene here in the UK
+The Savage Garage Yea smaller cars are perfect for crowded cities, but with how much space there is out in the states, they dont do too well on the interstates. Speed limit is usually 65mph cant really pass anyone with a smaller car like that they just dont have the power plus comparatively speaking fuel is cheap here
Lol. Uhm no. If someone does 65mph(=105KM/h) you can overtake him with a 1.2 liter engine. On my Corsa C 1.2lt 120KM/h(=75KM/h) is around 3500RPMs(redline at 6500RPM). And don't forget that in manuals you need to downshift when overtaking(unless it will put you in the redline). But yeah, fuel efficiency goes down the drain if you go over 100-120KM/h on those engines.
PS: I am talking overtaking on the highway/interstate where you have extra lanes to do that. Not on single lane traffic. Small engines can't accelerate fast enough at those speeds in order to overtake someone and merge back to your lane. But I doubt there are any signle-lane roads that allow you to go that fast anyway.
Hi James, Loving these old videos so on this engine swap did you also have to fit the ECU from the old "new" engine or did the original ECU still work?
Why did you not put oil on the end of the crank before putting the new seal in or wet the lip of the seal? You never put in a dry seal as it will burn when the crank starts to spin before oil reaches it? I may be wrong and new seals no longer require it but in my day you always wet them first. Thanks for the vid.
Hi I have a Renault Clio 1.5 DCI 2007 everytime you switch the lights on the heater controls don't light up and you have to keep tapping them any idea if this is a common problem or where to look. They come on once you tap the panel, thanks ian
I have a problem with my cluch and i bought new and fitted it just like you but still i cant shift in gears when my car is on:/ do you know what the problem could be? Or if any one can tell me what should i do?
Guys my 2007 1.6 astra sri does the other day car was feeling sluggish then the clutch went loose the car started smoking slightly so I pulled over turned it off had a look then went to start it and the car start but won't go into gear is it likey the clutch and slave cylinder have gone?
thanks Ahsan Anwar in the beginning of the video sure looks like a dual mass to me not a solid . I do sell clutches and flywheels on a daily basis as my job . keep up the good work 👈
thanks for ya help top man ill get on that tomorrow afternoon when bk from work cheers for ya help pal and keep up the good work. I fort shit iv fucked my car up now lol glad I can sort it thanks again 👍
Of course you can. The cams are easy to do, two ways, first the slits in the end of the cams on the right hand side should be closest to the top, once they are the first cam lobe closest to the camshaft gears should be pointy side out.. As for the crank take number one spark plug out, put a long screwdriver in the cylinder so it's touching the piston. Rotate the crankshaft until the screwdriver is at the highest point, once you do that and have the chain on turn the engine over more than once by hand to make sure nothing hits
Ano mate but the they are like brake disks they have a oil on them the same as a new fly wheel to stop them from rusting in transit the clutch may slip now
You will need to clean it i you still have the box sometimes there's a note I. The box to tell you to do it but it's your car I do this for a living mate you did everything else right good job but if it starts slipping you will need to replace the clutch plate as the oil would get into the fibres
ruclips.net/video/oVtvzWMyOto/видео.html - mate your video is i believe helping a lot of DIY craftsman , but when inserting the slave pump - concentric lower pump you have to depress it and top i with braking fluid ! THis pump is the lower part of your clutch and if you don`t top it with fluid it will be a nightmare to bleed it after that !
if I give my number here ne chance u can tex us and ill give u a ring.sorry to n a pain just u seem to no wot u doin and I can talk about it a bit better pal
I really miss this channel. One of the best on RUclips 😭
I enjoy watching your videos as i use to fix up cars years ago you take me down memory lane keep up the good work brother
What a dream working on a car with your son. My son too interested in girls to want to look at a car. Great work.

Thank you The Savage Garage for making so cool and in the same time usefull videos.☺👌 Can you share with us what kind of clutch replacement tool for adjustment you used in video?
Might be wrong but I don't think they have a map, they have a MAF instead mate which is the sensor in between the air box and the throttle body
You're wrong
great vídeo and mechanics
i really enjoyed while watching. thanks for this awesome video 👊🏽
great job well done keep them videos coming cheers
With the amount of brake cleaner you use its probably worth buying the 5L bottles and a decent pressure spray, it'll save you money in the long run.
You're probably right, I use a lot of the stuff and the tins don't seem to last that long.. Cheers for the advice!
cheers pal nice one matey

When you done the clutch did you run into any problems bleeding the system bud i cant seem to get mine to keep pressure for more then 30 minutes 🤔
Projects going well. How are you on budget with this one?
What length engine straps are they?
whether the pressure does not need to be centered ?
Just found your channel in my suggestions. Loving it. Just subbed:-)

can you make a video on removing the gear box without removing the engine? Thanks!
Great vid!
How much does that job cost in the United States?

timing chain?
What ever happened to this project??
Hi there, I have a SRI with a Z18XE engine, any chance you can point me where is the MAP sensor on it? Thanks.
Is this a Corsa still? that has a different engine mount to mine, that has one nearly from a GSI which is used to zlet them.
Project Sxi is with the Corsa. This is project SRI with an Astra(?). I know, confusing choice of project naming.
when putting a new clutch in you should always replace the dual mass flywheel 👌keep it up
old skool it’s a single mass on this one, you can tell because the clutch has its own springs whereas a dual mass clutches don’t have springs
thanks Ahsan Anwar in the beginning of the video sure looks like a dual mass to me not a solid . I do sell clutches and flywheels on a daily basis as my job . keep up the good work 👈

What song is this?
Shouldn't ever contaminate your slave cylinder with brake cleaner I learned that when my bearing seized and melted
Think it's out just a bit not much at all would that still not start the car up I fort it would still fire up.
Song minute 5.30?
You didn't clean the pressor plate mate
I used a brand new one lol
Ano mate but the they are like brake disks they have a oil on them the same as a new fly wheel to stop them from rusting in transit the clutch may slip now
