Ok here is the perspective of someone who didn't see the original until few minutes ago and just knew the 2017 adaption:
When I was in the theatre I freaking loved the intro & the music, I think it is an amazing opening by itself BUT seeing the opening of the original few minutes ago kind of made me understand how people are feeling about it. The original score is a tremendous piece of art and conveys this strange religious larger than life feeling, its like witnessing human becoming god through their creation.
Now seeing THIS gave me shivers. I can't understand why they didn't go with it. I still love the official 2017 version but this here is simply on another level.
I also think that this movie really isn't the worst anime adaptation even though they could have made it something truely special if they dared to, but hollywood played it safe...

Personally i thought Scarlett was great casting and even Mamoru Oshi himself said so! i'm not too big on the original movie which i find overrated as it was stunning but hollow and lacks story or character development and humanity, i find films like Blade Runner 1 and 2, Robocop and Total Recall (1990) to be better films than the original anime movie and for anime movies i'll take Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghibli, Vampire Hunter D 1 and 2, Fist of the North Star, etc over GITS 1 and 2 and part 1 i thought was ok but not that great but part 2 sucked ass as it was boring, pretentious and hollow.
I like the live-action film the best out of the GITS films so far as it has great characterizations, stunning visuals with practical effects and stunt work and i get to know more about the Major and who is this Puppet Master.

The first movie was darker than the original manga, and all GITS has their own interpretation, what is the live action one but just another interpretation. The other parts on the entire sequence are not enough to compete. It would cost much more to keep the same quality/pace as Oshii's animation.

Something that I did not like in this adaptation was the music for making of a cyborg (like many of us).
In the animated movie its music is mostly vocals with ancient (to some) and natural instruments. It offset the very mechanical and cyber-aesthetic of the visuals of a mock birthing scene. I'd describe it as a celebration of a birth. A tribe elated at a new and healthy child.
This one though... it just felt too mechanical, as well as generic (it has that baseline of every epic/ trailer for a sci fi setting ever). There are some strings for a more natural sound, and even a few seconds of quiet chanting. It makes it all seem way too generi and artifical for my liking. In a way it's too modern and "western" when it was a Japanese story written and made by Japanese people.

Actually the only thing I did edit was extending the title screen at the very end of the video.

Really dumb that they didn’t put this song in the opening making cyborg scene before releasing it in theaters…

Which version was used for this edit? I don't recognize the second half of the track, which sounds somewhat similar to one of the tracks from Innocence, yet different.

Why? Why the fucking FUCK did they not play this song with the 2017 movie? This intro would have (and did, in 1995) **made the movie**. Literally the only thing they had to do to make the film excellent but they were happy with good.
    ...
    I like the song :3

They had one F* job, put this song in the intro and they screwed it up and some youtube had to fix the mistake. Hollywood do better.

Why not stick on the original story? Instead, they (hollywood) generated typically lame made up story about Major...and made her so emotionally human...

Nah, in my opinion, i liked some of the changes, especially the change to make major more human.
