I'm going to share my opinion that goes against the majority's opinion regarding the Dreamcast version...
    And what is my opinion?
So, many people complain that the Dreamcast version is impossible to play due to analog sensitivity... however, I find the gameplay of the Dreamcast version much better than the Xbox 360/PS3 versions.
I see no problem with the gameplay of the Dreamcast version, perhaps because I have good motor coordination and also know how to draw? I don't know, what I do know is that I find the Dreamcast version's gameplay better, although I see no problem with the Xbox 360 or PS3 gameplay.
I have some hypotheses about why some people can't play Daytona USA on Dreamcast... the first hypothesis is that perhaps these people don't know how to play Daytona USA at its core, and the second hypothesis is that these people only tested Daytona USA on Dreamcast through emulators, which have input delay, completely ruining the gameplay - something that doesn't happen on real hardware, where you can play without any problem, provided you have sensitivity in your fingers and gentleness in your hands.
Remember that the Dreamcast version has more tracks than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions as well, since the Dreamcast version is a kind of remake that blends the Arcade Daytona USA with the Daytona USA CCE released on Sega Saturn.
On the other hand, the Xbox 360 and PS3 version is just an HD remaster of the Arcade version, meaning it only has the 3 tracks from the Arcade.
Yes, I've always found it unfair for people to negatively criticize Daytona USA on Dreamcast... I understand that people were expecting Daytona USA 2 and not a remake of Daytona USA 1 at the time, which led many people not to give the game a chance. Still, Daytona USA on Dreamcast is a good racing game on the system with excellent gameplay (provided you know how to play Daytona USA series games and have sensitivity in your fingertips and gentleness in your hands to move the analog stick precisely).
    And as for the graphics?
I don't care about graphics; my comparisons are not about graphics... for me, the most important thing is that the game is fun to play and has content. I see no problem with graphics in any of these versions... even the Sega Saturn version, I don't see an issue, considering that the problem with the Sega Saturn version is different, but that's a topic to address in another video if I decide to share.
But I can't judge my opinion based on others' opinions. I know that for most people, graphics matter the most... but it's not the case for me. I have more fun playing PlayStation 4 than an Xbox Series S, just as I enjoy playing SNES more than PlayStation 5... or even Sega Genesis more than S.... for these and other reasons, I see this concept of fairness or unfairness in comparisons. There is no injustice in comparing Dreamcast with Xbox 360, or comparing NES with PS5, for example.
The real problem lies with people who don't understand that everyone has the right to have their own opinion and that others' opinions can be disagreed with but not disrespected or contradicted with a lack of respect.

Ah! Finally! Someone that appreciates Daytona DC for what it is! An AWESOME game! Also, most people forget they can change the sensitivity if the driving in options menu!
I find Daytona DC veeeery fun, and with the added content, its better as well!
Graphically? Its its own thing, some things better than the arcade. The most important to me was the framerate, and that is SPOT ON.
Thanks for this awesome comparison, as always!

Daytona USA on the Sega 32x would be quite intriguing. If it was done in the style of Virtua Racing which had really tight controls in the first place. Probably be more enjoyable than a lot of the hyper realistic racers out there.

You can enjoy the high maintenence gameplay of the Dreamcast version, and I can hate being lied to when I try to purchase a better version of my favorite Saturn arcade racing game.
That said, love comparisons like these. Anyone crying that it's not fair is playing the world's saddest combat sport.

    • @M1XART

Well, i think since Daytona USA was on Arcades as early as -94, people were expecting more or less Daytona 2 to come Dreamcast, or at least for GameCube, but SEGA's team did F-Zero GX instead.
However, now that we know just how long it toke for Daytona 2 to actually have any proper home -version what so ever, Dreamcast Daytona USA has awesome value.
It has much more content than original Arcade or XBOX 360 remaster.
DC -version also looks incredible, simply faultless on visual & audio.
Dreamcast -version was never ported to any other system and quite frankly it's nearly worth getting Dreamcast just to play this game.
Yes, Dreamcast Daytona was and is true next gen Daytona. Still, people who like retro vibes will likely prefer XBOX 360 -version for nostalgia reasons, as it is almost direct Arcade -port. With only resolution and drawing distance having major upgrade.

Interesting the Dreamcast version is published by Hasbro Interactive. Which is now Atari Interactive. So many missed opportunities to use the Hasbro license. I mean they could of added a unlockable Tonka Trunks, Cobra tanks from GI Joe, and car piece from Monopoly. Which would be quite amazing.

Or a home release of Daytona Championship USA with more tracks than the arcade version, such as the 2001, Sega Super GT, and Battle on the Edge tracks alongside the 6 arcade tracks. Having the Daytona 2 Cars alongside the Hornet or making the non-Hornet cars in New Season Edition their own unique Cars would be a bonus as well.

I also think removing the roller coaster from National Park Speedway and replacing it with NOTHING was a really bad idea. That track has no personality at all without it.

The Dreamcast version of Daytona USA was the best this series ever saw. It was fun, easy to control, and had multiple tracks, circuits, and cars to choose from. It even had different tires to choose from on each car!
The Xbox version was accurate and well made, but lacked the traits that made a home version of the game special. One track and you’re done.
    Winner: Dreamcast.

  • @ericolson2286
    @ericolson2286 6 месяцев назад +1

Two things that I wish both of these versions had:
    1) The Saturn stable of cars. Once you beat all three tracks in the Saturn version, you unlocked a total of eight Hornets to race with (with each one having color schemes based on the multiplayer Hornets that became available when arcade cabs were linked). Oh, and you also got a pair of horses, heh heh. But it was cool having several Hornets to try out that had different handling characteristics. I was also a fan of the yellow Hornet myself in the Saturn version. I know the DC version has a bunch of unlockables, but many of them are too goofy-looking for me to want to use in a race.
    2) if you played Endurance Mode (10 times the laps of the standard arcade version), the Saturn version would cycle through those goofily memorable songs from ALL the tracks during a race. The DC and Xbox 360 versions just keep playing the same tune that goes with a specific track. That’s an awful lot of “Rolling Start” and “Day-To-Naaaaaa” and “Sky High” to sit through for 20-25 mins.
