Each statement which questions this fundamental democratic rule when we have majority-minority issues within a society causes uncertainty as far as the future of this society is concerned.

We cannot conclude from the fact that Turkey had been controlling Cyprus until 1878, when Great Britain took over the island's administration, that Cyprus is Turkish for historical reasons. It doesn't make sense. The majority of the cypriot population is from Hellenic (greek word) origin and besides that, Greeks had come to the island long before the Turks did. So, strictly speaking, the Turkish Cypriot community is a minority, with all its rights guaranteed, after all they are human beings and noone can deny their rights, always taking into consideration that they belong to a minority group. Each statement which questions this fundamental democratic rule when we have majority-minority issues within a society causes uncertainty as far as the future of this society is concerned.

Most Greek Cypriots say they’re Greek completely abandoning their Cypriot roots. Atleast Turkish Cypriots make sure to have the distinction that they aren’t Turkish but turkish speaking Cypriots, thats why they have northern Cyprus, to represent the minority of turkish Cypriots the place they reside in.
