- Michael Schenker was very kind to sit down and show me a bunch of his guitars earlier this year. He openly talks about his spiritual connection with his DEAN guitars, brother Rudolf and his career.
SOME COMPLETE DOUCHE BAGS have stolen guitars and TEMPLE OF ROCK MUSIC AND DATA! Please help Michael recover his property.

Michael Schenker is truly an inspiration to all aspiring musicians. This mans influence on modern music is incalculable. I look forward to hearing more from this Master Musician.
It seems that Michael has moved beyond a lot of his issues from earlier in his life and seems like he is more at peace. What a giant influence he has had on so many great players.

I remember seeing several of his old guitars up for sale by him, many years ago. He was married to some woman named Bella, if I remember right, that put him through the wringer, emotionally and financially. He was selling his guitars in order to make payments to her. That was about the time that he was still a raging alcoholic, right before he sobered up, if I'm not mistaken. (which I might be, it's been a long time). I was a member of one of his online fan email groups and he sent out a very heartfelt, tell-it-all, emails to the group, explaining what all was going on. I really felt like he might have been at his end, the way he was talking. But, as Comics etc. stated, sobriety is a good thing.
Once Michael sobered up and get his life back in order, the transformed with his mental thinking, as well as his playing. He plays better now than he ever has, and his creativity is on a different level then it was throughout the earlier parts of his life. He is mister "happy go lucky" now, and very humble. He has issues, like everybody, and this feud with his brother came out of the his sobriety. He is now seeing how he was taken advantage of by many people who should have been protecting him, but $$ is a bitch. We've only heard his side of the feud with his brother, so who knows if that will ever be smoothed over, but we can only hope.
I'm going to see him in 12 days, at the Schenker Fest show in Detroit, and it should be an amazing show!!
Age makes one wiser and comfortable. The angst of getting there is where the real work is.
This man changed my guitar playing and he is still one of the best ever... in my humble opinion of course ;-) Great songs help as well as great playing. Some of that old UFO tone and techniques is flawless
It's too bad Gibson never made a Michael Schenker Flying V signature model. Instead Gibson made Jonas Brothers signature guitar instead. No wonder Henry J is no longer CEO at Gibson.
It would look certainly a damn sight better than that awful inverse headstock of the Dean effort.
@@Deebz270 Schecter have brought a V out with a good shape headstock, and knowing their quality, it will be good.
That "awful" headstock design adds sustain and tone due to its size. Its also differentiates the 2 brands from each other.

Not sure about the rest of you but when Phenomenon and Force It appeared i (we) were exposed to some of the most melodic rock guitar I had ever heard; from the acoustic ballads to scorched earth lead solos. I must have burned through several copies of each album attempting to learn every single tune, every single run, and most of all; how to craft a great melody to rock changes. We all owe Schenker for this gift. Happy to see Michael enjoying his art and craft. Love to meet him just to say thanks and maybe play a few tunes! Such classics!

Fan of Mikes since 79'. First heard him on Lovedrive and was blown away! He's a good man just trying to spread his music. We all know he's had ups and downs..I respect the man cuz he keeps making his music. Very cool, Blessings to Mr Schenker.

ALSO still missing his main #1 guitar from the UFO/MSG days, which has been missing for almost 20 years..... the famous Gibson b/w Medallion Flying V.
read somewhere that his ex wife get the right of his Gibson flying v in divorce settlement..so now change to Dean flying v design...
Yes i heard that the medallion was stolen at an airport.Such a shame he will never get that UFO tone again.But he has gotten some great sounds after that to but it will never be the same of course because every guitar sounds different but thankfully its on vinyl/cd forever.
@@rorycunningham5457 I disagree that 'every guitar sounds different'... The principle voicing of any electric guitar is the electronics arrangement and especially the pickups, not forgetting the signal path to the backline amps/PA. The 60's batch of Gibson V's were fitted with CTS pots, 0.022uF disc capacitors and 'T' top humbuckers. The pot configs changed over the years from two vols and a master tone, to the more traditional four pot config of the Les Paul. This gave a unique sound and along with the Honduras mahogany body gave the 'v' that distinctive 'nasal' character to its voicing. The Flying V played by Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash, would sound the same if played by Michael Schenker... If you listen to the lead solo in Rock Bottom, or Lights Out and then listen to say - Persephone, the King Will Come or You See Red (Wishbone Ash) you can hear that 'nasal' cadence and immediately recognise the sound of a 60's Gibson Flying V. There's nothing else like it. Just like a Strat sounds like a Strat and a Tele sounds like a Tele... And a Les Paul etc...

How do I know this? Well apart from 40 years of experience in playing, maintaining and customising electric guitars, I've owned a late 60's V and played one or two from other eras. What is cool however, is how Dean have captured that 'nasally' voice of the Gibson variants, to their credit... The Dean headstock on-the-other-hand, is .... Well excuse me whilst I barf into the nearest available receptical...
A true legend...inspired many and had changed my playing for the better... everyday, listening to the old ufo and always being inspired to create new riffs... a fucking inspiration 🤘🤘

People who steal a creative artists tools are the lowest form of human, they have theft tools for computers and Cell phones, music equipment and their cases should be embedded with "low jack" type of technology!

It really is a shame ,that some thieving bastards would be low enough to steal a mans guitars. But thieves have no honor, so stealing from a master musician, is the same as stealing from some ninety year old grandmother to them. Alas, Michael Schenker will be sharing his music with us while playing new guitars, while the thieves will be sharing a cell. Rock Will Never Die!!!
He is (that is Michael)the best fucking guitar player in my life time.We had a bunch of names a head of him,but they are no longer proving the future as he does and continues.. Thanks Michael,from Michael.
my first real guitar was a white gibson V like my hero Michael my house was broken in and it was stolen the best friend a man could have gave me a 20th anniversary Les Paul custom because he felt so bad for me some lowlife broke in and stole that too

Your best guitars are a very personal thing that money can't buy or replace they become part of you.

A friend turned me on to UFO Phenomenon around '74 or '75 and I never looked back. I am amazed at how few hard rock musicians today even know who he is.
I'm only 13 but my wish is 1 day hopefully I can get a keilediscope guitar... I've seen Michael 2times in 1 week this year too .... Best week of my life

I hung out with Bobby Barth who is sponsored by Dean guitars. He swears by them. He says they're just a better Gibson. As though somebody took the Gibson Flying V to the next level. I have yet to own the Dean guitar. I still play custom Fenders. I will have nothing to do with a stolen guitar.

Elliot Easton [Cars], Kerry Livgren [Kansas], were the two guitarists who liked Dean Guitars in the mid/late seventies whom I remember.
I remember they made some good guitars then just turned into crap .their new guitars play pretty sweet an solid body for under five hundred bucks ...nice

I learned to play guitar because of Michael. Playing along to all those UFO albums. The most memorable part of my youth. Love that chrome V, and there's me gone and bought a 2016 Gibson Flying V Pro T. One thing is for sure, whomever is the arsehole who stole those guitars, they'll never be able to sell them.
GIBSON should have done your signature series a long time ago. The DEAN are a nice guitar all mahogany V. Also your dean model is vary affordable and that is great for Yong players.

Seen him loads of times, the latest was 2nd Nov 2017 at Shepherds Bush, right at the very front, awesome. He is my biggest influence. Strangers In The Night is the best live album ever. I have a black and white guitar also!

Yep I agree. Never played one so can't go too far into it. I have a Gibson V and love it. But like you I can't get past that headstock even though my HERO plays it. Superficial but true.
JokersWild45 The headstock kind of grows on you after a while. It took me awhile too I'm kind of used to that Fender fiddlehead.
Try to keep your mind on your playing and watch for that sustained note that causes the girls to lift their shirts up.
Breasts take your mind off everything. Beats me.

Seems that sometime between loading them from the stage to putting them on the truck. A roadie perhaps? Zakk Wilde keeps all his guitars with him on his tour bus in a custom rack. If one comes up missing he knows.

The Fender Stratocaster from Rory Gallagher was also been stolen. But he gets the guitar back again.
I was fortunate enough to see one my Hero's during this era, Heritage. The Yin/Yang seemd to sounde the best (broken string and jack problems aside). Sux the kit was stolen. Could have bought a Dean Retro MSG V for under $600 about 6 years ago at GC.
I would buy a Dean MS V, but I hate that headstock. It is just ugly.

That silver mirrored one was up on ebay a year after it disappeared and I sent an email to Mikes manager on his official website but I never heard back from them. I wish I would have seen this police phone # on hear back then.
That Dean guitar is ok but I never liked the headstocks on them. I think he should let ESP or Gibson build him a decent more respectable looking guitar

This isn't the first time his guitars were stolen. His wonderful gibson v's were also stolen and imho they were way better looking than the deans. The only dean i can stomach is the dimebag version but they've never looked good on MSG.

bet you guys don't know this event,there was a time Michael cancelled his Taiwan concert due to some "unknown issues",but some of his gears(including guitar,only one I think) and outfits were already shipped to Taiwan,because of Michael's irresponsible act,Taiwan concert staff decided to confiscate his stuff that I mentioned

Michael sold his #1 and #2 Gibson Flying Vs in the early 2000s, I believe on Ebay. I think #1 sold for somewhere around $22,000 to a fan from England, who gave Michael a standing offer to buy it back at any point in the future for the same price. Pretty cool fan!!

What's with the medallions on his guitars ?
All these guitar player's guitars stolen over the years...you hear many story about this kind of thing, so it begs the questions...how? How does one steal a fucking guitar? It's a big item, you'd have to be in the right place at the right time under the right circumstances to make it happen successfully. Shouldn't these guitars be under lock and key and if and when they are not, shouldn't they be with someone responsible enough to prevent the guitars from being stolen. Perhaps, in some cases it was an inside job. Someone offering someone else close to said guitar player with access to said guitars, a lot of money? I dunno, it just seems strange this kind of thing can happen without help from the inside.
Someone turns their back, someone picks it up and walks away with it. Sometimes around a lot of people, which probably makes it easier. Plus in a backstage situation there's lots of people walking around who are busy working, so they don't get to keep an eye on gear at some points. It happens, unfortunately.
Bob Lopez The recording studio they were recording in was broken in to. An entire album of data was stolen (on a computer) and the whole thing had to be recorded again. The thing is, you could never sell Schenker's guitar and the album has been officially released. Ultimately a worthless act . When my guitar was stolen from my house I nailed up the door from the inside, I felt so insecure. Couldn't get out tho....

Unfortunately, there is a market for everything these days. The extremely rich have no problem with hoarding priceless items if given the chance to support a crime like this. It's actually quite amazing how many priceless stolen things have never been recovered. Sad.
things get stolen every day, thieves are always looking to steal. today they might steal a wallet then tomorrow a car then the next day a guitar. they get caught only about ten percent of the time so they've stolen a lot by that time.
Most of the guitars and equipment that the Sex Pistols used were stolen. Steve Jones (guitarist in the Pistols) was a painter and decorator. He frequently took jobs at famous musicians houses and would steal their stuff!

Kevin Raabe I honestly think he sounds better with the Deans. Sure that the rest of his gear got upgraded with time as well but his live tone is just so much juicier and tasty now a days than in the 70's and 80's.

I want to know the reason that Michael doesn't trim the ends off of his guitar strings.
Because it doesnt bother him!! If you trim it you might poke in your eye with it or it might scratch your skin. or worse it might cause you to bleed to death.

Basicaly, I love the ying-yang look, but I absolutely hate that inverse headstock. Sure the Dean guitars are good and play well etc... But that awful UGLY headstock completely detracts from the purity of the arrowhead of the Gibson variant.

Basically, I once had a black velvet jacket, with a silvery-white and black MSG patch on the breast pocket (like a school blazer...), obtained from a concert of MSG that I attended back in the day (early 80's). I wore this jacket to visit my uncle (himself visiting from Australia...). He asked me what the patch meant?

Basically, I said that the patch represents - ''Michael's School of Guitar '' He still remains one of my largest influences on guitar technique, his precision and melodic nuances were perfect, certainly to me at the time.
Basically,.... One of Rock's greatest legends by far.
