Me watching this video: “I am learning SO much. With this knowledge I’ll be amazing at this game.” Me next time I play Crusader Kings: My idiot council hasn’t fabricated a claim after three years and then my sister murders me.
THIS! I watched a video before this one of guys play through and thought I got the gist of it. I was severely mistaken. But everyone says to do the newbie island, what if I watched a pro do a speed run of it!
Its easy enough if you start as mumu then just train your troops then take Meath and Dublin because søreyar has that you Can declare war on Them. Then fabrikater claimed on any provence you like in ireland
I just managed to established the kingdom after i thought it's impossible since england decide to invade other counties beside mine. Luckily, after waiting for several years, there's revolution happening and i managed to steal duchy to fulfill the 51% requirement.
it depends on rng, i guess it is because of experience. i did two campaigns as mumu, one of them william invaded many irish counties and i knew i was next so i restarted, surprisingly he didnt invade ireland and i united the island
In my game I just save moneh, get merc, beat English army a few times, then do one or two sieges and EZ win. Got wales, Cornwall and scotland like that
I spent 40 minutes trying to figure out how to declare war after getting a title and then when I figured it out I lost on very easy. To say I don't understand the game at all is an understatement.
When I made the Irish Kingdom, I decided to see what might be next. I zoom out to see that the whole of England was considered part of the Norwegian Kingdom.
Hm. I actually approve of variety. Honestly I like both versions, the long and the short. - Do whatever you like I will enjoy both kinds. - Although for there to be a goal it would make for an exciting campaign, since you sit in anticipation of you achieving that goal. Mayhaps you could do achievements.
The Irish monarchy/political system was mad complicated back then. High King ,who rules over... 4 petty kings, who rule over Like 20 cheiftens each. Except cheiftens and petty kings use there land to fight each other to become the new High King. Ireland should go and use this system again
I spent hours trying to figure out what I was doing. I was totally focused on what was going on in Ireland, when I had a look at the surrounding countries after 3 hours of playing, it was suddenly all Norway :D
@@Joseph-no6sn marry with sons i suppose? But the worst part is when you are trying to control britania and for some reason the Abbasid end up inhereting a county in the isle and if you want to fight them they have a 35 k army. So you are there a sitting duck without making the Britania empire and waiting the +999 peace treaties and defencive paths to end because you don't want that -5 diplomacy.
What I did was get a ruler with diplomacy focuses, then got them to have a large family and tutor them all so they had all high diplomacy and married them off to vassals. They vassals became happy with me and when I went to pick a diplomat all of them had high diplomacy. It takes about 3 generations to start with but if you have a ruler with great stats you can do it with multiple positions at once. It took me about 30 hours of game play to figure this out but once I did the only thing I had to worry about was making sure I didn’t commit accidental incest.
I think you should do a longer series on this cause I really enjoyed this and I like the fact that you took Ireland in 1 video. Imagine what you would with more the possibilities and interesting
I've been really looking forward to another CK2 serie after the Charlemagne one! One thing if you could, is put in the description of the video what DLCs you have, it would allow viewers to know what you have and not and not ask things that are in different DLCs. Keep up the great vids!
I like it Legend; this is almost like those short challenges you used to do, shorter campaigns, sure. The starting problems of some scenarios are usually the more interesting parts of them anyway.
You should look more into the laws of your realm, and the succession law at the beginning. It's easier to pass controversial laws when you are small. Besides that, you are doing well but you have still some learning to do. Good that you started with the easy Ireland. When you become a bit better I suggest you go for Bohemia or Rus starting from the Viking age, those are quite challenging. Or the one I like the best is to start with the kingdom of Asturia from the Vik age, its really difficult if you are unlucky. Keep up the good work.
maybe he did, but I have more than 900 hours of game-time on CK2 so I might have some insights for him, if he reads them good, otherwise not a big loss, I cannot comment on the total war games, as he is far better than me, but at least here I will. ;)
I am aware that you don't take suggestions or anything of the sort so I'm not going to demand you to do this, but I personally and I'm sure a lot of others would love to see a mix of shorter challenge campaigns like this along with one or two longer running campaigns with much larger goals. Whatever way you decide to go whether its doing a mix or one or the other they'll be enjoyable to watch just the same.
This I actually enjoyed this fully thank you for this. Good video nice quick goal and then done easy but you should try to take the rest of the Isles don't think it would take that long.
I'd enjoy seeing you do a medium length campaign where you took on the goal of becoming Emperor of Brittania, I think from your position you could accomplish it relatively easily and quickly, but would be nice to get a few more episodes from this playthrough
There is a nice mod called "Bigger Interface" just for that if you want. And it would really help us viewers better enjoy your gameplay. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=762121960&searchtext
Yes but it still allows us to better see the traits and titles and so on and I think it's better than the vanilla UI. But yeah font size is the main issue...
dude, i tried as the county of Leix, made the duchy and then all broke loose after the crussade, because my sisted inherited everything and as i forgot that she still the lady of one of my holdings, she declared war, and took everything bc she had loads of money and jerusalem was fighting on her side
The region in Ulster that you got from the scots was because your vassal declared war on them to expand his dominion and won, but because he's your vassal the land automatically flipped to you (but doesn't belong to your demesne though)
Legend you should get the Conclave DLC if you are going to play more CK2. It makes it harder by having the council vote on certain decisions, and powerful vassals will also want to be on the council. Makes the game more fun and realistic.
short series with goals make this interesting ,also you can make another series with same historical or just add some fun on it and end them in short anywhy sorry for languange best for you legends.
I think it's pronounced "Con-Nought" but I'm not sure :D I'd like to see you go for Empire of Britannia, but maybe it's too easy. Perhaps it could be fun to do another "from the ground up" empire build, focusing on building a harder empire, like Jerusalem. Change history and make a Crusader empire! Or something like that.
Hey Legend I know this has nothing to do with the video but I went on Facebook today and there was an ad for Total War Brittania, which had a link towards an " Unoffical Review " of the Welsh faction , the guy in the video is swearing a bit in the video , I just thought you would like to know considering recent events between you and CA
I'm glad to see a change in content, I like you as a player but total war was too boring for me. However it's really hard to read the font on my 720p res laptop
A quick question about Gavelkind. If you were to capture counties (as a duke) outside it's de jure duchy, when you die those counties would be lost? Or they will be a part of your petty kingdom?
I don't know how you do this so well. I'm new to this so only play as Ireland and I have trouble earning cash and my vassals keep plotting against me even though they like me. Also, no one in Ireland will marry my daughter due to political issues and other duchies in Ireland seem to be conquering other territories faster then I can. Also, I don't see an option to change difficulty in the game, is it literally just based on the character you pick and thats it?
Hey Im new to the game and just wondering why didnt you invite people to your court like a chancellor and some commanders with good stats? And you could get a better marshall yours has a stat of 2... Any downsides to that?
Legend I know you don't like suggestions, but since PDX games are a new territory I think I'm bit more justified to say something about it lol, if you do do an EU4 series in future I think a Byzantium one *might* be quite popular, somehow they are just attractive to watch for many (I think) and also is a relatively challenging start.
he can try again when he's better at it, I'm surprised he tried this early. But then again he's a Rome fanboy he'll do it one day without us telling him to lol

he can't he made me a claim after literally 25 years, 25 YEARS DUDE LITERALLY
its been 11 years and still hasn't made me a claim

Playing as a petty King in Ireland is all fun and games until the king of England comes around and gives you a history lesson.
I just experienced that and almost actually won the war until my french allies started fighting each other. I ended it with a white peace.
I just managed to established the kingdom after i thought it's impossible since england decide to invade other counties beside mine. Luckily, after waiting for several years, there's revolution happening and i managed to steal duchy to fulfill the 51% requirement.

Ah the red arrows, I know them well
tell drew to learn from his Hoi4 campaigns
whats that mean Alex?
Joshua Hancock in the thumbnail he uses a pair of red arrows to identify what he's going to do. Rambler also uses them in some of his video thumbnails
oh ok i see now, thanks Sean.
Hey rambler you should come onto Legends stream for more chats, really enjoy hearing the back and forth between you two!
i am actually shocked how this was only 1 hour of footage.
no edits, just a straight 1 hour walkthrough.
very epic
"There seem to be no females here" my life
My wife was listening while I watched this and yelled at me “to be gay!”
When I made the Irish Kingdom, I decided to see what might be next. I zoom out to see that the whole of England was considered part of the Norwegian Kingdom.
A classic
Going against England need France and holy empire help if you are with Ireland
I remember this when I played as Island (Iceland).
Hm. I actually approve of variety.

Ireland is now divided between the mongol empire, the HRE and Byzantium

Should've went for the empire
And bore himself to death afterwards. Trust me.
meanwhile my chancellors take around 5 years to make a claim even with high diplomacy. :')
Yeah, you're best bet is to marry into getting claims

@Brody McCrudden it was the official tutorial in the first versions sooo
Brody McCrudden I’m still stuck though.

It’s cool to see legend play this mini series being from Ireland myself

I like the single-episode format.
Wish you continued this series, this was awesome
I like how your vassal magically took that last NE territory seconds before you created Ireland and you didn't even notice! Wish I was that lucky!
YoureTheHippopotamus the vassal went to war for it.
I would like to see you play a series that has you start as a tribal lord and forge an empire title from there.
i created the kingdom of ireland almost by accident when i was playing years ago great to see this challenge
That was short and fun :D The Norway takeover at the beginning was hilarious!! Would have preferred several more episodes though :)
Really liking this new series of micro challenges.
I'm still learning so it was nice to watch you do what I can't
I'm looking forwards to all these new series! Good luck!
I like it Legend; this is almost like those short challenges you used to do, shorter campaigns, sure. The starting problems of some scenarios are usually the more interesting parts of them anyway.
In my first game ever as ireland, England turned into Norway in the first year or two.
In 1066 no irish man had a daughter

Nice, good to see you play some ck2 :) really a great game.
Havent first episodes always gotten the most views? I would probably watch more of these than any long standing campaign.

loving the old ck2 content
Really enjoyed this legend, keep it up!
He's doing it, he's becoming a Paradox RUclipsr, look at the thumbnail!
If you right click on a province, it automatically opens its rulers character window, so you don't have to do an additional click on his portrait.
I clicked thinking it would be a speedrun and I was like "wtf, how it could be done in like 4 months

Are you playing on 4k resolution?
Wouldn't mind seeing you create kingdom of Britannia tbh
you can use your marshall to increase the reinforcing rate to OTHER counties as well
CK 2 5k hours with all the dlc this shit is awesome keep playing!
When sieging remove all your generals to avoid getting negative siege events, its gimmicky but better than waiting for levy replacements.
I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to actually acquire any more land. Lol thanks m8
the level 3 martial physically hurt me
