Y'all know this is just my opinion, right? Видеоклипы
I really think when they embrace their weirdness they will make a classic.
I agree, I actually felt this one was kinda a bland album. I miss their Mirrorland craziness and uniqueness. That's what I listen to them for, not them sounding like every other trap beat artists.
IMO that was Torba and it was awesome. Everyone sleeps on it though
@@MaxRosewater nah Mirrorland falls off hard in the back half. Boring bloated songs that go nowhere with same soundy production
@@royalwarlord2342
The thing about Mirrorland is, it sounds *great* once you get to "This Side" and everything before is just unimpressive.
Ghetto Gods on the other hand, does have Billi and Black Pearls, which both SUCK.
But other than that, I enjoyed the rest of the album.
@@myyoutubeaccount4167 Black Pearls one of the best lol you trippin
Definitely resonated with the idea that they’re stuck between going full weirdo and going full commercial. I’ve been listening to Earthgang since 2014 and feel like I’ve watched them struggle to find their place in the industry. Personally I love their music and always wish they would fall solidly on the weird side of the divide. F Bomb is one of my favorite rap songs of all time. If Earthgang is bringing that kind of energy I feel like they can’t lose.
Nah if you want a great artist these days you have to follow the balance of two worlds. Kendrick learned that really quick
@Imani Gordon the irony of what you’re saying is that Kendrick actually blew up after he had an actualisation to stop trying to cater to the mainstream. Listen to “Let Me Be Me”. So your statement is contradictory
@@imanigordon6803 honestly I feel like kendrick is not really a great example. He had massive success with TPAB which is very out of the box and not commercial at all. While damn is definetly having a more commercial/mainstream oriented Sound. It's not like he tries to balance between the two but does one record in a jazzy experimental way and the other one more toned down, while other artists struggle to have a clear distinction between weird and unique and accessible for Mainstream audiences.
I feel like dijon did that balance really well with his latest album, he is definetly out of the box but still not too weird for mainstream audiences to enjoy. I would also bring up genesis owusu, but I know quite a few people who already think his music is too "weird"
@@tontonbonnet7397 Are you saying Good kid Maad city doesn’t have very mainstream tracks?
@@LetsArion King Kunta, Alright, and I on TPAB are very mainstream. Once again the balance between consciousness and mainstream are the only way to reach the masses now.

update NOT GOOD/10 : DRAKE - HONESTLY NEVERMIND
I remember seeing Earthgang and JID back in 2018, best concert I’ve ever been to. Best part was that it as $15
Now that’s a bargain
Biggest regret of that year was that I didn't go cuz none of my friends listened to them. Massive L
@@Chowder0440 bruh denzel finna come to my country too but goddamn, none of my friends listen to him too tho, but gottamn i rlly wanna go lmao
@@carlolrac7889 go alone bro what's stopping you

Anthony, that’s supposed to be where you put the album cover, not a picture of your backyard.
most underrated comment😭😭
AMEN is really such a groovy track, Can't wait to play it the whole year
So just play it man, no need to wait.😉
That track is such a vibe. I know I’ll always find ‘that’ song whenever I listen to an EARTHGANG album.
They really tryna get the strip clubs going off with one.
Amen
Waterboyz is the best song off the album JID and Jermaine went crazy
Power
Waterboyz + All Eyes on Me
I don’t know about the Jermaine dude but J Cole was nice on it
Strong friends 💪🏾💪🏾
I was really impressed by this project. It’s much more versatile, topical, and revealing than their last solo effort while still retaining what made the best spots on the last one so infectious
Topical
Mirrorland was better imo, it had more versatile songs that had beat changes and shit, ghetto gods is mostly one beat for each song that is repeated for like 4 minutes, which in my opinion is pretty annoying
@@tdw8991 Ha! I guess I won the battle sir. My score was exactly on the mark 👍🏾
@@imanigordon6803 yeah I was thinking bout you the whole time, it’s good that you like the album I personally just think earthgang has bigger potential
@@tdw8991 I also think they have bigger potential I think this album though is slightly better then Mirrorland though. It’s not perfect but I think they took what Mirrorland had and gave it more grounded and mainstream appeal
Idk, Anthony. Saying that the record "fell flat" near the end is a little controversial, especially considering that the earth is a cube.
After barely seeing any coverage of this album on RUclips and overall pretty mediocre reviews on rating sites I’m really thrilled to see how positive this review is. I really loved the project and I’m glad melon gave it the nod it deserves
Me too. Im seeing no love for it anywhere but i put all my homies on and now i got like 3 of em going to the concert w me. Album is so soulful i wish it was getting pushed. But yeat had to drop 😭
It's definitely my favorite Earthgang album yet, I think it's going to age really well.
I like Earthgang's EPs Rags, Robots, Royalty all were incredible especially Royalty.
I really loved Mirrorland and was excited to see another record, which I’m loving, but I also agree that I don’t think they’ve quite reached they’re stride. That said I expect that at some point they’re going to release a VERY strong record, they just need to nail down the right formula of consistency and weirdness.
Swivel and ready to die was great songs from them. Their older and mellow songs are much more my vibe, but sadly it's not what I did get from Mirrorland and I was so hype for it. Now because of that this album waiting to get listened downloaded on my phone
Ready to die is still one of my favorite track to me. I showed my sister to introduce them and she was impressed
as someone who usually like slower, more mellow songs, i loved mirrorland. it was fun asf and had a lot of good summer songs on it. definitely had its misses but it has a special place in my heart.
Is that a window into your basement behind you? Damn Melon…..
Awesome review Anthony I'm really glad that you liked this album because I thought it was amazing I would go as far to even say it's a 8 imo the beats flows and lyrics all touched my souls and this might be crazy to say but this is one of my top 5 favorite albums released this year so far
Really loved this one. Honestly my favorite Future feature.
I hard disagree about that. I felt the gravity of Future’s voice came in and worked really well with how the song suddenly got really dark.
sad there wasn’t a cal chuchesta interlude where he’s playing the piano singing gospel music in the middle of a church with a scarf around his neck and a shirt saying “worlds best grandma”
I know right? Thought he would have done that at this point for sure, total no-brainer
This was my favourite kanye album to date
🤔
Ye really took a risk changing his stage name for this album, but i think it worked out great!
Strong 7. Some of it I'm not that into, but tracks like "American Horror Story," "Lie to Me" and especially "Smoke Sum" are some of my favorite of the year so far.
yooooo purple-ish shirt??? this album must be a banger
i was waiting for this!!
Idk I feel like earthgang have not surpassed shallow graves for toys yet. I might be biased, since it's the first album I heard from them, but the sound they bring on sgft is really special.
Yeahh agree. They are just really average to me. Not bad.... but not amazing. The Applebee's of hip hop 😂😂
Would've been a 10 if it was called Affluent Suburb Gods
😂
*Melon you can’t just listen to an album then eloquently dissect all the pros and cons of it and call it a review*
have a lovely monday everybody
and im still here wondering what the effect chain for fantanos intro vocals are
Future's part on Billi reminded me of the "slob on me knob" part on King's Dead, just totally killed the vibe😭
Disagree if you listen to future this was actually better then majority of his verses.
When this album first came out I was really disappointed but as time moved on I re listened and fell in love with the album I’m glad I listened again in the recent months and not left it in the back burner
You should check out the new Guided by Voices album (Chrystal Nun Cathedral) - their best album in a decade and way more consistent than the last dozen or so albums...
Great Intro Anthony 👏
I miss the old earthgang. I don’t blame them for going more commercial, and I still support them, but their EPs and earlier projects were so much more complex and interesting
LIE TO ME is my favorote track
Fair score. The C-Lo track had potential, but as mentioned the heavy handedness prevented it from being enjoyable. Song was too Nick Cannon specific, if this was what Nick think was the reason why people went after him, then it kind of made his original apology insincere.
My favorite Earthgang project is their short mixtape Royalty and it's bit sad but they havnt done anything better, in terms of their own project. The songs Cocktail, Build, Nothing But The Best ft. Ari Lennox, and Off The Lot are AMAZING songs that made me love them. Those songs are so soulful and stylish and sound like nothing else out there.
Mirror Land did something different but the album reay grew on me after a while so now I love it.
Ghetto Gods has yet to grow on me like Mirrorland but I do still like the album.
Please Gang of Youths review soon
The title track was such a good tone setter
It’s a fun listen with a good message. Solid record.
CeeLo really dropped the feature of the year so far, he needs to rap more 🤯🙏
agreed - every time he drops a feature verse it goes crazy. his verse on Git Up, Git Out is still one of my all time favorites
@@DoctahhOfficial i've only really heard him sing, but this verse is insane, his delivery is super unique. ✨
Faxxx he sounds like Busta Rhymes a bit. Felt so in place on that track
@@andrew_gould oh my friend, you’ve got a whole lot of Goodie Mob to listen to. peep the Outkast track i mentioned up there and if you like it, try out Soul Food by Goodie Mob
@@DoctahhOfficial thanks bro🫶
Was worried this album wouldn’t go over as well as it did for me, but glad so see you actually enjoyed it.
Personally this album was at least an 8/10, with what I feel is just a more polished and better version of the more recent dreamville projects
Nah, it's about a 6 or 7. You are a fanboy is all.
@@TheBatosai why y’all trippin over a number, when you attach numbers to every sound that goes in your ear it cheapens it all, I never watch these videos till the end, I just like hearing what he has to say about the music. Also, how does a 1 point difference make him a fanboy lmaoooo.

Not even close lol
Yea it seems like they’re limited somehow and I don’t know why.
Fantano had the same score as me. I’m surprised 😂 usually when I decently like something he either goes higher or lower. Glad we had the same thoughts on this album.
shave lookin mad clean tony
Mr Fantano, will you be reviewing the new Stromae album?
A solid album. A solid review.

Such a good review! I like the part where... uh...
@@certainpeople159 uhh where he gave it a 7. yeah i think that was pretty cool
forgot this dropped. got to listen.
my sweet mel mel I’m surprised there wasn’t a mention of strong friends sounding almost exactly like a teezo touchdown track.
This uploaded so late in the night
This whole vid looks like melon has children locked up behind him💀
Wonder if Cole would sign me when I get better
What does "If your diamonds don't dance, what's the chain of command?" mean?
There were some absolute bops on this project but some redundant tracks
i give this album an 8.5 out of 10
EarthGang is the new and the only new gen OutKast...
I really enjoyed their robots ep, I guess I really want that again. But it's still available for listening
Agree with this review on all fronts except for ALL EYES ON ME. It shouldn't be taken as a chill track, wholly more banger-ish than relaxing and the production is aggressive to exemplify that. Quality review aside from that.
When Dot’s verse starts on Amen 😤
this isnt the weekly round up.
Anthony got that fresh cut
I really think this is an entertaining album. I'm feeling a light 7
Melon, you’re holding two children hostage behind a metal fence and they’ve been staring at you for the past 9mins. Please let them out
Is it just me or did j Cole do nothing on waterboys? That song is still one of my new favorites but still.
Idk how you could not like that future feature
You should check out Narrow Head’s 12th House Rock
Review the new Buckshot, you goof
this, who tf cares about Earthgang
this was my favorite album of the year. every song is perfect
Did you (or anyone who reads this) notice how the first eight lines of Dot’s verse on “Smoke Sum” was NOTICEABLY SHARP intonation-wise in relation to the beat (in a bad way obviously)?? Also, Future had the same problem on ALL of the song “Too Comfortable” off of High Off Life! But I’d say this album is pretty okay, definitely not bad-I’d say a solid 6 and I haven’t even watched the full review yet. ANYONE LMK IF IM TRIPPING ABOUT THE INTONATION ON SMOKE SUM THO!!
Nah I think the intonation was sharp in a profound way
@@imanigordon6803 I mean, he doesn’t have the problem on any other tracks on the record so all I’m saying is he coulda like redone those 8 lines ~10-14 cents flatter and it would’ve been an imACCULATe vibe…..or you could be trolling I can’t tell lol
@@njmtrumpet I think the way he does inflictions on the track may make people uneasy about it but it’s definitely not bad
@@imanigordon6803 the rest of that verse is fine I was just sayin he coulda been more in tune on the first 8 lines but yeah def not bad
@@njmtrumpet oh ok that’s a fine opinion 👍🏾

Earthgang is watching.
What a great album review.
I think you're a bit biased being one of the 7 billion members of "earth gang". smh melon
i was so expecting him to shit on this
I know right? He agreed exactly with my score 😂
7 seems good enough for Earthgang
Most things I personally enjoy are a 7. Not super thrilling but not forgettable and definitely not bad.
Please review Caroline’s self titled
Everybody in here who calls albums albums instead of projects is cool.
please do tears for fears fantano
Probably a 6/10 for me. I thought the first half of the album was just really boring and bland but some of the second half tracks really stuck out to. Still think they work better when they're experimenting.
This is a goodie
I'm still not on the earth gang wave🤣
Loved this album
Nick Cannon went WAY harder on his feature than he did on all three of his disstracks combined. 😑
