This video was a shot in the gut for me. I live in Maine and had one of the first production 5spd grand cherokees. It was a 1993 Grand Cherokee. Bright Red, grey interior. I bought it as a roll over (very light damage) replaced a couple doors and fenders and resprayed it the factory red. I did change the wheels to sportier looking ones off a slightly later model. I hated those early 5 star wheels. This was my daily for years. I blew the spider gears out the Dana rear end and replaced them at 300k miles. In 2005 with over 300k I sold this jeep for $1200 running and driving in basically mint condition. I honestly didn't know what i had when I sold it. It wasn't for a few years after selling before realizing what I had. Would definitely be interested in purchasing another. Thanks for the vid.
Hi! I am French and I hope you will read my comment, I also own a grand cherokee 4l from 1994 but with the unreliable automatic transmission^^ which therefore broke. and I am therefore planning to switch it to a manual gearbox, I have already purchased most of the parts for the swap, but I would have liked to discuss with you to have some information about the design of the zj 4.0 manual d original, thank you very much. a French friend
Nice Jeep you have - and thx for sharing. Funny though, here in Europe I'm pretty certain that more than half of all ZJs sold were manuals!! (2.5td version). Subscribed and willing for more videos :-)
What fun! I got my Hunter Green '94 ZJ with the AX-15 in April of this year, sadly beacuse I'm in New England, I've got the typical rocker/sills/drivers side door rot. It still runs like champ though (i've already put 8000+ miles on mine), including a trip to the beaches of the Outer Banks.
I just picked up a manual 94 ZJ, second one I have owned. I love it. The first one I owned in 2002 and everyday I regret selling it. My new one is nowhere near as clean as yours though.
You gotta do the leather power heated seat swap from the limited model no fabrication bolts right up. You do have to run the wires to the battery (not hard) makes a world of difference comfort wise. I love my ax15 ZJ!
It turns out there were a few more than that! I did google it and was unable to find a better answer at the time. Since then, I have found the actual build numbers. In the US market, there were 1,086 in 1993 and 1,755 in 1994. Source: www.jeepforum.com/threads/unicorn-sighting.4478743/#nested_reply_top_post While this could be wrong as well, it's the most detailed chart I've seen and has a ring of truth to it.
what is the significance of the name “for the rest of us 2020” Also, love the car! And the video! I commented on your Reddit post, if you’d like some help editing and making your videos, I’d be happy to help.
"For the rest of us" is because I'm not rich, I don't make money on RUclips, and I work a regular job. Most of the content on RUclips is by people who are monetized, or sponsored, or just have a lot of money due to their chosen career. These videos will all be for the rest of us. Those who aren't professionals, but just backyard mechanics, or amateur videographers, or bike riders as a hobby, or just whatever. Amateurs in everything. Things that the rest of us in the world can afford or can do with limited skills and budgets. 2020 refers to the year I officially started uploading videos to the channel, along with the year of my retirement from the Navy. And thank you! I saw your comment and will definitely keep you in mind if there's something I'm having trouble doing with the videos or want some help creating a specific look for something!
@@FortheRestofUs-gh7yj congratulations on your retirement! I would be happy to help you, even if the problem is just that you do not have time to edit a video, and I could edit it instead. I'm curious, did you add tags to your video when you uploaded it?
For the Rest of Us 2020 no problem. Love the car! My parents had one when I was very young, but I don’t remember it. I do remember my grandparents 2002 WJ though. I loved it so much, if I ever have the chance to own a WJ I will take it instantly.
Man this thing is awesome. My number one dream car. Currently have a 96 4.0 and a 98 5.9. 5.9 is cool but no where near as cool as a factory 5 speed
BEAUTIFUL!

why manual is better ?
@@Anti4pok much better transmission than the automatic liability wise. Also more fun to drive in my opinion, and very rare.
