I haven't commented in a while because life has been hectic. But I wanted to say I've been enjoying your April vlogs so much. A definite pick-me-up moment in my day 🙂
I have experienced 3 shakings of earthquuake on west coast of Canada. The scariest and was middle of night and we woke to what sounded like the growl of the earth, then the shaking. Never to be forgotten. We are now in Ontario and don't have them very often.
Glad yall are okay! When i saw the news about the earthquake in NJ, I thought of you and your family ❤
Same
Its good to hear that you are OK after the earthquake. What a week with earthquakes and solar eclipses! Your children had a nice break from school. The next few weeks will go by quickly for them. Then the glorious, wonderful summer arrives
Seriously, it's been quite the week! Can't hardly believe how FAST this year has gone
Glad you’re okay. I experienced the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 while I was in college, living in my dorm in SF on the 15th floor; it was a 6.9 . The most terrifying experience! The university had all the students sleeping on the cafeteria floor (a single story building) until they could get things figured out. Our dorm was deemed unsafe and was condemned. I wound up dropping all my but one of my classes and slept on a friend’s couch for the rest of the semester. My parents rented me an apartment off campus the next semester so that I could continue my studies. I remember coming home during break, my parent’s have a view of the bridges, and couldn’t believe the site of a section of the Bay Bridge that had collapsed. 63 people died from the Loma Prieta earthquake.
I was driving home from Modesto. I felt the car swerve, I thought I had a flat tire. I turned the radio on and heard there was an earthquake in SF. That was too scary, my husband was home with the kids, he said the house shook real hard.
@@whoohoo7 Yea, our popcorn ceiling was raining on us, my balcony pulled away from the building and our walls detached from the ceilings. We thought the building was going to collapse as and my roommate I hugged each other in the doorway and screamed at the top of our lungs.
I was across the bay in Richmond helping a nurse practitioner with an exam up on the 3rd floor. The NP, the patient and myself just all stared at each other. There was nothing we could do but ride it out.
@@TheDawn0310 Oh wow! You must have been at Kaiser or Brookside?
@@romac941 actually Kaiser lol
Can’t complain when the sun comes out into your house after you mop the floors. 😂
Really enjoying these vlogs ❤
What a cute coffee stand! I love that you can drive by and grab some local coffee. ❤
Such a blessing for sure, but it's not there year round. It was a long winter ;)
Yikes! Earthquakes are so scary. I remember living in CA & working in a fabric store in the 70’s when one hit. I remember looking up at the lights & they were swinging & the bolts of fabric were falling off the shelves. I was so young I just stood there & watched while all the older ladies were screaming & scrambling under tables. Ahh, youth…so blind! 🤪 Now I only have hurricanes to contend with 6 mos. out of every year in Houston. Both scare the dickens out of me! Harvey was no joke! 😢
Can’t even count all the earthquakes and after-shocks we’ve had here in Southern California (L.A.) over the years. Have also had significant ones, like the 6.7 Northridge earthquake in 1994, at 4:30am. Freeways, houses and apartment buildings destroyed. Absolutely terrifying because it was dark, we could hear glass and furniture moving and crashing down all over the house, and the quakes never seemed to end. Was before my own girls were born, but we had a friend’s three little girls staying with us. Glad you could turn yours into an educational experience for the kids.
My grandparents’ house had huge cracks from that earthquake! They lived in Canoga Park, right near the epicenter. I can’t imagine how freaky that must have been!
Wow, your grandparents lived in the valley, in Canoga Park near the epicenter. We live over 23 miles away near Culver City and felt it hard. A lot of major damage as well. Truly terrifying with significant aftershocks the whole next day. We drove through the valley days later and couldn’t believe how many apartment buildings had collapsed straight down through the ground. One of our friends’ young daughters that were staying with us had argued with me the night before about wanting to sleep on our comfy living room couch. Thank God I said no because a tall, very heavy antique desk/book case with glass doors came crashing down on the couch, exactly where she would have been sleeping.
@@debbiem6406 Wow! Thank the Lord she wasn’t on the couch.
And yes my grandmother absolutely hated earthquakes, I think because of that one that scared her so badly.
Yes, I praise God for that to this day. Take care! 🌼🌼💖🌼
Your bread slices were so EVEN. Mine always come out wonky. Yet another of your amazing qualities! LOL.
A time for straighter slices is to use a sharp, serated knife. Crooked slices still taste great though. Lol!
My friend’s daughter lives in NYC and is a nurse. She was taking care of a lady/patient when the earthquake happened. The patient asked Diane to quick hand her, her bible. The patient was sure the world was ending. I’m glad you are fine and glad you took the opportunity to talk with your children about earthquakes including biblically.
...and here we thought the Eclipse was the world ending yesterday! Lol! What a sweet story though,... turning to Jesus in uncertainty is very heartwarming!
So glad y'all are well!!
Thanks for sharing April Vlog, Hilary ❤
I love your vlogs more than anything else you do. Thank you!
Aw sports season! I know the feeling! So exciting! The cookie bars looked so yum! Loving these spring vlogs.
Enjoyed.

Loved your video Hilary. Oh those beautiful flowers! When I was little my Dad used to push us 9 kids down the cellar stairs like that onto an old mattress. So much fun! Your dog is adorable. 💛🌻🌷
I laughed out loud when you were making the cookie bars and said we’re low on chocolate chips so we’ll have to do chocolate chips, white chips, and butterscotch because I kid you not on Friday I made cookie bars and did the exact same thing 😂😂😂 I thought the turned out delicious!
Haha it all works out!
Really enjoy ALL the Sally Hepworth books! That one was a good one 😊
Hi Hillary, your bread ALWAYS looks so delicious! The flower arrangement is gorgeous. I so love fresh flowers. Take care until the next video! THANK YOU!
Glad you didn't receive damage from the earthquake, was surprised to hear one in that area. Being in Florida, knock on wood, haven't experienced any; we do have a few hurricane warnings every year and of course alligators in most every body of water.
Hello Hillary, family, and fur baby. TO GOD THE GLORY! Enjoy your week. STTB
As soon as I heard about the earthquake, I immediately thought of you and your family and hoped you and your house were safe. Glad to see and hear that all are well. Blessings!♥️
If I’m not into a book but want to finish it, I’ll just crank the speed up on Libby to get through it.
Smarrrrrt!
Hi Hilary, I was so surprised to hear on the news that there had been an earthquake in that part of the country. I’m a native Californian and have experienced many …😬. Glad to hear all is well. Always enjoy your videos ❤
Books: Our Rotary Clubs, in and around our area, hold a 2nd Hand Book Sale Fundraiser...one in Spring, and Summer and Fall...all within 20 - 40 minutes drive...books are $2 each... and range from fiction, to non fiction, to kids, cooking, gardening, hobbies...all arranged by genre and author... just filled up my trunk on the weekend with my daughter! Great to have for holidays where I can read/leave books behind... for summer patio reading, winter cozy reading...
Eclipse: ;did you get to see any of the eclipse where you are in your area?
Cookie Bars: would love more recipes for these; so fast and easy, rather than dough balling for hours on end!
It’s been quite a week weather/atmospheric wise! Blizzard in Maine, Earthquake felt in NY, NJ & PA and a Solar Eclipse! Whew! 😳 I’m glad you’re okay. Lots happening lately and definitely cause to keep our eyes on God, who holds all things in his hands! 🙏 Soccer season, bread making and reading…how fun! 🎉
Hi there Hilary! Luckily, I didn’t get any damage either. Hope Evey has a good soccer season ☺️⚽️. The fresh flowers look so pretty🌷. Enjoy this beautiful day today.🕊️🌸💚😊
It looked like Lara--Evey is a very big girl
Good morning Hillary
So glad your family is Ok I knew you lived in New Jersey and didnt know how bad it was
Scary having an earth quote but glad it was small and no one hurt.
❤
💕
I'm glad to hear you guys are okay that's really scary. I am reading first lie wins by Ashley Nelson and so far it's really good. It's a new book that just came out in January.
I love books by Sally Hepworth. I just finished The Good Sister, by Sally which was so good! And I'm currently reading The Things We Keep by Sally.
I liked The Good Sister!
@@OldWorldHome aren't you glad she wasn't your sister!?
I live in NY and the earthquake was definitely a shock
Your sandwich bread looks amazing!!!! And how do you slice it so perfectly????
Ah thanks, just a good knife and a steady hand I suppose 💛
@@OldWorldHomeHave you perfected your sandwich loaf recipe? I would love to know the final details. It looks amazing! I love my bread machines. Sometimes I like to cut the loaf diagonally, just for a change, and it makes different sized slices. And those cookie bars! Nothing makes a home like baking. 😋🍞🧡
What mop are you using? I’m looking for a new one. Nice video !
Hilary please try Dorothea Benton Frank the books are so good start with Plantation. It’s so funny an you will love the Characters.
Good Morning from Central Indiana! I'm curious if you've read any books by Holly Jackson. My daughter, who is in college, loves her books. She pre-ordered her most recent book, The Reappearance of Rachel Price.
Good morning! I don't think I have, might need to check her out 💛
@BengeFamily98
We just visited Noblesville, IN for the eclipse. Loved the historic area and hospitality. The view of the eclipse was pretty amazing.
@@7SeasEvents Oh wow! Yes, we're about an hour's drive from Noblesville. We had a lovely view from our back yard! So many people came to our state to see the eclipse! I'm so glad you had a nice visit!
@@7SeasEvents, my son lives in Greenwood, just south of Indianapolis. He works in downtown Indy. He and others were able to work from home so they could experience it.
@@jannier9766my Mom lived in Greenwood! I used to live in Indianapolis, so hello to all you nice Hoosier Ladies 😊
Paula Sutton of Hill House Vintage, UK, has a new book: 'The Potting Shed Murder', that you may like. Greetings from The Canadian Prairies
I've heard it wasn't an earthquake but some tunnels being blown up to combat trafficking.
🙄
I think that too
