- Part 1 of 3 videos showing the complete process of making a concrete bath tub in place. Using a fiberglass tub mold, Part 1 shows setting up the plumbing, frame work, and forms for creating this in-place mammoth tub. 38 bags of concrete (80lbs each) to fill the form!
This little ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Love how we see him making pencil marks and nothing else...so helpful
To the folks asking where the mold came from, it came from the guys making this video.
to the makers really and I thought your sink molds where pricey, you have a design that requires less then 150 bucks in concrete but you want 2 grand for the mold, yeah, I think I'll look into other ways of building a mold if I end up going this route.
My question is and i hope someone know the answer, is there any risk of toxicity in bathing in a Concrete Bathtub, or using it for a table-top? If so, is there any layer of treatment i can use to remove that potential? Even if it was just 0.1 toxic, i would like to know.
I am grateful for all responses, while searching this on Google, which have gotten worse over the years as a search engine, they only send me to pages that is profitable to Google, not necessary what answer i am looking for at most exact.
Hi there
You need to coat / spray Concrete with epoxy. I did my countertop/ kitchen island and the company I was getting epoxy SIKA recommended the one used in food operating businesses, like restaurants etc. It was approved and sage to handle food on it so I guess for the skin it would be suitable as well.
Hope that helps
Honestly, this seems much higher quality and more fool proof. water proof and super easy way to make a shower...
How much money is need to make that? ??
where do i buy a tub mold. what are you using for the wall outsde the tub mold
What sucks about this type of job is major hardware chains in my area do not sell anything for concrete molds, stencils for floors these past few months I've had to make it all from scratch with what is available. I recommend if you are going to do this, find supplies for this online. It's almost a conspiracy with these chain stores not carrying molds etc etc.
making your own should be easy like paper mache with a rubber coat.
This is a way to small for me, I need to and half metres long, and one and half metres wide bathtub 🛀
friend, my congratulations for the work , I am Brazilian and I am trying to implement this work , but my English is not fluent , please help me , which product you use to polish the concrete?
do you use a special kind of concrete for this?
Where is your wateroutlet connected,
this is pretty permanent. would you have to jackhammer this to remove it?
Having to warm up several hundred pounds of concrete when you want to take a bath?? Isn't this the safest way to secure that you never have a hot bath?
+Lars Peter Abildgaard I thought of that also. Would it be unreasonable to embed a heating unit within the casting at floor level that could maintain a desired temperature maybe even help ambient air temp as well?
Good idea, but you would still have to raise the temperature further... I don know.
Run a much hotter bath. Once the concrete has heated up, the water will stay hotter for longer.
Route your hot water supply around the concrete form in side the concrete. Or Add a hot tub water heater to circulate the water.
Where'd the tub mold come from?
But how big is the tub?
yea were did you get the mold from?
