FAM!! 🫶🏾
Cut me some slack on these ratings lol I just like to read and rate on how I feel. Y'all sit down and come with me for a fun review and rating session of all the books I've read this year so far! 📚✨ From page-turners to unexpected gems, I'll share my (very honest but respectful) thoughts and ratings on each book. Whether you're looking for recommendations or just curious about my reading journey, this video is packed with bookish fun. Let's vibe out and talk about my year in books so far!
19 books is amazing! I'm still slowly getting back into reading after some years of a slump, I'm only at like 4 for the year. but hey, no competition - reading is reading! And hopefully you enjoy it. 😊
It's so rare to hear a male reader talk about the books he's read! I'm glad someone shared your channel with me! I'm currently reading "It Ends with Knight" by Yasmin Angoe which is the third book in a trilogy. It's about an African assassin who be killing folks who threaten The Tribe of African Nations (I think I might've been one in my former life).
Congrats on a sponsorship (: I’m sending you love❤
Thank you! Sending love back 💯💙
😊00
Black man that reads! I’m so excited to get your perspective on different topics that I wish I could get the men in my life to read! A list of recs comings soon!
Currently reading Blacktop Wasteland. Just finished All the Sinners Bleed. I Gotta salute you for making me start back reading bro 🫡
Yeahhhh!! I love to hear that 💪🏾💪🏾
I have read all his books and i luv luv luv them. I thought Razorblade Tears was my fave but now i can say they all are!!!!!
Dude. S.A. Cosby is THE BEEEEEESSSSST. I am currently reading Missing White Woman by Kellye Garrett. It is giving me such a THRILL RIDE.
I appreciate your diverse taste in books and respect the way you rate them. Great video!!
So often we get caught up in reading challenges, especially when seeing other people who read 100+ books a year. It can lead to feeling like we're not really "readers" if we aren't reading an outrageous number of books. But what's important is reading when it makes sense for you and going at your own pace! 19 books so far is a great place to be ❤
I LOVED “The Midnight Library.” So engrossing and filled with mystery but also relatable.
Cuz is getting that sponsorship! I’m so buzzed for you, man. I’ve got so much love for your channel.
A male booktuber! Love this for the booktube community. Such a diverse stack of books. I love it! I really enjoyed Sula and Seven days in June as well. I felt the exact same way about A love song for Ricki Wilde. I gave it 5 stars as well. I need to pick up a S.A. Cosby book immediately.
Oh don't worry everyone needs a break at times so far I have read 64 books this year and dnf 1 book
Jesus loves you and wants a relationship with you.he died so that you could go to Heaven. He wants you to live for him and is the way to heaven.Believing in Jesus and what he did is the way to Heaven. If you don't already, you should read the Bible ✝️❤️
I like how his reviews aren’t repetitive. Not every book is his favorite, but there’s multiple that he loved. I’ve added like 6 to my tbr to see if I have similar taste
Great video. Cousin, your rating system will revolutionize booktube 😂
I’m gone start using it tomorrow! 😂
The way I immediately went and put a hold on A Love Song For Ricki Wilde after hearing you talk about it. Really enjoying your channel and the variety of books you feature!
obsessed with you reading a court of thorns and roses. can’t wait to see what you think of the rest of the book and the series!
The next two in the series especially, in my opinion
My book club is reading Razorblade Tears this month. I’m so excited! Loved your video!
I read Seven Days in June last month and even as a romance hater, I LOVED it. It’s so good!
Omg, I’ve been sleeping on S. A. Cosby😅…. I’m currently on page 316 of ACOTAR, and I too am loving it! Everyone always talks about the 2nd book, so I didn’t go in with high expectations… But, it’s SO GOOD!✨
You gotta get into that S.A. Cosby lol 🔥 and I literally feel the same about ACOTAR so far!!
So good to see you again! I have on my shelf Your Body Keeps the Score and I have to take the dive ... but it feels like something you gotta be mentally ready for. But happy to hear how much impact it had for you. Re: 1984, I literally feel the same way - that book is SO ANNOYING to read but it is somehow also so good lol. Thanks also for the Tia Williams rec, I missed that it came out, so excited to reserve it on Libby :)
Welcome back, cousin. So glad you had fun and lived life, way it should be. We can wait for you here.
Love your commentary on 1984; you're so right. I read that book probably 17 years ago and it still haunts me. I saw and continue to see 1984 situations very often.
If you're cool with a rec, I definitely believe The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois will be an excellent read for you.
Thank you for coming back. It's always nice to see you.
I love seeing the mix of fiction & nonfiction books. I am a 50/50-ish F to NF and don't find many videos with recs for both, very much appreciate you getting your videos out to the world. 💜
I am gonna buy every single book you recommend. So refreshing to see a guy who loves books.
A love song for ricki Wilde has been my favorite read this year so far. Glad you loved it too
I knew I liked you! All of the books I read and loved, you did as well. I already added the books you enjoyed that I didn't know about to my TBR. Keep doing your thing my brother!
I want to see more Lit Vibes with Five booktube channels: down-to-earth/not pretentious/catering to the everyday people! Love this channel! Refreshing! I've read about 140 books in my whole life, enjoyed most of them, didn't create some artificial race to read "100 books a year" or deliberately buy short books to stack my readership numbers.
If you like Midnight Library you should also check out The Humans by the same author Matt Haig. Great video! I’m going to put a lot of these recs on my TBR
Talia Hibbert is probably my fave romance writer. So great to see someone with such a wide reading spectrum love to see the romance books on your list!
You are amazing dude! Your reading is amazing and it makes me want to read more! I just cancelled my Hulu so I can read as much as possible! Thanks for the book recs!
Razorblade Tears is the only S.A. Cosby I've read so far, but I'll definitely be picking up more, it was so solid!
Let me tell you cousin, S.A. Cosby is one of them ones! I just finished Razorblade Tears and literally felt the EXACT SAME WAY. Like I was watching it the entire time I was reading it. Def gonna be reading all of his work!
Congrats congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 COUSIN 🎉🎉🎉🎉 keep shining 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Your book reviews are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 keep them coming as I really enjoy your perspective on all your reads! ❤️👏📚😄
I love this channel. Your eclectic tastes and down to earth (and honest) reviews are fantastic. Your enthusiasm is so infectious. Keep it up!
Yes I loved reading The Midnight Library it was so good
Been wanting to read Rich Dad Poor Dad... I've seen a resurgence of its popularity recently.
Love your videos!!
Also, if you liked Atomic Habits, you might like 10% Happier by Dan Harris
i'm currently reading the people in the trees by hanya yanagihara
Love love love your content! We are age buddies btw 😆 annnnd we have similar book taste! That’s lit !! Thanks for sharing !!
Read dark matter 🎉
Cousin! Nice to see you! You have been having a great reading year so far!🎉 appreciate your honest feedback on books❤ stay in touch!
seven days in june was one of my first 5 star reads 😭😭 you should read love and other words by christina lauren, the characters aren’t skin folk 😂 but it has a similar childhood to adulthood lovers storyline
Can't wait for the latest S.A. Cosby book.
Fellow male reader here showing love and support to your channel. Also wanted to give you a romance recommendation. The mixtape by Brittainy Cherry
I really like your channel and how you express your love of books! Congrats on the sponsorship and thanks as I've signed up! Have you've ever read the book Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes?
Thank you so much! 🙌🏾 I have not read it but I’ve definitely heard of it before.
I read quite a lot. I have a long commute and I enjoy reading during my commute. I also have reading as part of my bedtime ritual. I watch RUclips though and feel like I must not be reading enough. I love that you emphasized that we all read at our own pace and with whatever time we can at our season of life. My TBR isn’t shrinking, but I will beat myself up less if I don’t get to ALL the books.
I’m currently on my 3rd S.A Cosby novel & he’s officially near and dear to my heart 🫶🏽 I have to read Blacktop Wasteland now 👏🏽
12:57 I can’t wait for you to read the second and third book in this series. Those are the best in the series.
Thank you for the reminder that reading is not a contest. I needed to hear that. Goodreads will not let me forget how behind I am on my reading challenge. 😅
I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses! I am currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury.... I saw a spoiler video on accident scrolling and I am devastated.
I have that book on hold at my public library. That be my first book of hers that I read.
I loved the Tia Williams book! So good!
great video, i love the midnight library!!
Congrats on the sponsor! Good to see another video, I hope you're doing great 🎉 keep up the good work 👏
Love your book videos so much. I'm so excited for your Harry Potter and ACOTAR journey. ACOTAR hooked me last year. I was never into fantasy until I started that series. It was just so interesting and fun and I felt so attached to the story.
Also - congrats on the sponsorship!
Thank you! I was feeling like I was the only person who doesn't like The Hating Game. Love hearing you talk about books and your thoughts. 😊
I just finished earthlings from your recommendation. I am now scarred. I have no idea how to describe it to other people
So glad I came across your channel! Also, HIGHLY recommend S.A. Cosby’s Razorblade Tears…he has quickly become a favorite author of mine as well.
I love your channel I'm so glad I found it
Thank you so much 🙌🏾
Cuzzo, now you gotta let us know what are your high priority must reads for the rest of the year. And your Mid Year freak out tag!
Wowww you have read quite a bit!! I loved First lie wins it was soooo good. I recommend The vanishing half and Love the one you're with and Chains. I gotta catch up lol. I'm reading The last Mrs Parrish and so far so good.
Great content man! I love your openness and the breadth of genre you cover; the mark of someone who really loves reading and learning.
Really enjoyed this video 🌞 This is what reading diversely looks like in my opinion. Was thinking the same thing in terms A Love Song for Ricki Wilde. Definitely want to read it again ✨
Life is an adventure. Life it up... with a few books. S. A. Cosby is your dude. You recommend Ric Dad Poor Dad for young females?
Exactly! & I would recommend that to everyone, honestly.
I loved this intro live life too!!!!
This is a really sold list for the year, definitely will be adding a few to my TBR. great video as always ❤
great recap! No need to apologize for you out living your life, we all need to enjoy life once in a while!
Dawg I already respect tf out of you. Your energy and self confidence is inspiring and a breath of fresh air, especially as a male booktuber
I love your videos! I’ve always been a big reader, but this year I’ve really rediscovered my love for books and stories! I’ve read 33 books this year so far and your videos always inspire me to keep reading!
Sheesh! 33 is dope 🙌🏾 Glad I can help, keep it going!!
Razorblade Tears sounds so interesting!
Can you start putting time stamps😭 my adhd brain has to watch out of order sometimes 💀
Read The Fine Print, Terms and Conditions, Final Offer by Lauren Asher, triology. Also read Storyteller by jodi Picoult @ Holocaust, best ever!!!. Also books by kate Morton, all good!!!
I feel like my next read will be S.A. Cosby, his books sound really good. Love the video!!✨and personally I like the longer videos more
so funny - looove ur commentary
You should really read anything by RF Kuang, she wrote a book called Babel, yellowface, and the poppy war trilogy and all of them are straight bangers! 2/3 qualify as like fantasy (one of them is like a historical fantasy) and yellowface is based on something that actually happened to her. You would lover her books. Great selection so far this year tho! and ty for addressing that some of the authors are shady people (esp JK rowling who has hurt a lot of queer kids with her nonsense)
I’m so happy to hear someone else feels the same way about A Love Song for Ricki Wilde as I do!
Me too i loved that book!!!
Never gotta apologies for a hiatus! Especially when you dropping great book recs like this!
I definitely appreciate it 🙌🏾💯
Love this journey for you....just shared you on my FB.... hopefully it brings more readers your way...
LOVE earthlings... so unhinged! ALSO, would love to see you read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo! You've now inspired me to check out those SA Cosby books, they sound awesome.
Glad to see you're back😊. You should give The Fourth Monkey by J.D. Barker a try. I hear it's a really good book, I'm curious to know what your review would be.
ACOTAR is a current addiction. I have already read the first four books twice this year. And I’m only hesitating on read the last one because I don’t want it to end 😂.
Immediately adds S.A. Cosby and Toni Morrison books to my TBR
Thank you for sharing your book reviews. You've introduced me to S.A.Cosby and I'm excited to explore his writing. I'd highly recommend Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, Native Son by Richard Wright, Always Running by Luis J. Rodriguez (Memoir) and Kennedy Ryan's Before I Let Go (Romance).
welcome back! i can’t wait to see how your content evolves with time and this sick sponsorship! thank you for your voice and book reviews!
If you enjoyed Earthlings, I’m curious to see what you would think of Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata.
I liked Blacktop Wasteland more than Razorblade Tears. I had to DNF 1984. I just couldn’t get into it.
Bro I just finished First Lie Wins based off your suggestion and mannnnn we gotta compare notes. That book was good. You gotta read this book called The Family Game by Catherine Steadman. Just finished that book also and I didn’t expect the twists it kept throwing at me.
Years ago I started listening to books when I traveled as a consultant. I got tried of carrying and losing books while traveling. I will buy a physical book after listening to a book if I LOVE a book. Despite technology, there have been occasions in our country when electricity has gone out, a physical book ensures I have something to engage me when infrastructure fails me. I love your channel, keep it up.
I love how diverse your reading is 🫶🏻 Talia Hibbert is a fantastic romance author, highly recommend her Brown sisters trilogy! Also would recommend Daisy Jones and The Six (audiobook) and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid 😊
I really need to read the midnight library now that you’ve raved so much about it! Sounds like my kind of book.
I found Atomic Habits in great condition at a local little free library so I definitely need to read that and my husbands copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
I also really need to read some Toni Morrison.
New subscriber.. I love these mid-year book videos. I always find something new! 19 books is not bad. I really like that you read a wide range of books from all kinds of genres and authors. You reminded me about "Earthlings". I might finally get to that one.
Love your vibes ❤
I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m also so happy you love S.A. Cosby. He’s such a good writer. Because of this video I added Sula and a love song for Ricki Wilde to my list! ♥️
I need to pick up S.A. Cosby this year! First Lie Wins is on my tbr. Very excited for it! I just finished the Renegades trilogy, and am currently reading It 🤡 (and it’s so good!!!)
I put S.A. Cosby / Razorblade Tears on my list because of you :) I honestly haven't read a lot of books this year - I've been more able to keep up with audio books. Some recent books I really loved: Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 and the Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy (they're pretty popular but maybe you haven't read them yet)
I listened to the audio book of Razorblade Tears and it was impeccable. The voice actor brought the characters to life and I was obsessed with S.A.Cosby after this book.
@@marnielewis8102 thanks that's very good to know :) rn it's just easier to listen to audio books on my way to work/doing chores etc. rather than sit down and read. So if the audio book is good, I will give that a shot :)
I heard about S.A. Cosby here first. I’ve read Razorblade, Blacktop and All Sinners Bleed. I read All Sinners Bleed twice. Phenomenal! So glad I took Five’s advice. It is not my genre. What a voice! My Darkest Prayer is on my list.
Going off the books you like I really think you would enjoy the grip trilogy by Kennedy Ryan! It’s really an amazing trilogy that goes deep.
Bro, can I get a T-shirt of your Book tattoo, One with it on the chest like what you are wearing in your 19 Book You've Read video. Also, let me get 5 die-cut book marks with your tattoo on it.
Ain't no shame in 19 books for half a year! If you're lookin for recs I strongly suggest The Lies of Locke Lamora! Or, Red Rising. Check em out fam!
Dude! You got me to read all the sinners bleed and it was my first s.a Cosby book and WOW soooooo good, came back to this video to say thanks for the recommendation!
I'm currently reading a love song for ricki wilde
Talia hibbert book definitely surprise me, was really good
I love to see you speak so freely about your love for books. I hope it will encourage other young men to embrace reading more. Just a few book recommendations, since you asked:
