YUMMY Enjoy -
I took your recipe and added a bit of minced garlic as well. Hands down my favorite green side dish. Easy to whip up, and it helps me load up on my greens. Tasty enough that I almost don't even need my red meat to be satisfied with my dinner!
Can anyone tell me please if I can't find marrowfat Peas, is there a 'best' alternative or not. I know it won't be traditional. I once made them with Prussian blue, it tastes it a bit different but it worked; my Northern British friend loved them. But mushy peas in a can, do they start around 20p. Crazy how much Bachelor's costs in New Zealand by the time it gets here. Thank you very much for the video.
Right I’m looking for true mushy peas recipe. I have been living in USA for over 20 years and in America people don’t know the yummy Mushy peas from North of England. I was born in Lincolnshire and I miss fish and chip with mushy peas, Yorkshire pudding, jacket potatoes and Shepherd’s pie. Yummy and so I’m exploring recipes for this thanksgiving season.
I'm American but I heard all of these dishes watching a lot of bbc programs, I feel empathy for you missing the great taste n memories from home. I wish you luck on finding something suitable for your taste here in the US. 😊
Hey Jules, As a child, before the days when Sugar Snap or Snow peas became common, folks sat around and shelled peas. Some went straight to my mouth, but some actually made it into the supper bowl. Fresh, crisp, sweet, in short perfect peas ... and you want to take a 'boat motor' to them? I was forced to eat canned peas when snow covered the garden, so I'm a bit hesitant about peas that won't roll off the knife. Maybe with a too-large chunk of butter!
Looks interesting and I'd be happy to try them but that dish is not mushy peas. They take 24 hrs to make and do not use onions, frozen peas or spinach. See Pinxton1955 for the real deal.
This isn't mushy peas it's just ordainery peas mashed up
I agree. That's called spinach mash. It's popular in France: puree d'epinards.

Getting a kick out of the purists disavowing this as proper mushy peas. Looks tasty to me!
Thé purists don’t know what they’re missing out on 😀
Fantastic idea to replace potato mash with green low carb mash.

Any Northerns agree ??? Hahahhahha
Crazy woman, where did you learn this method. Too many traditional recipes are ruined by fools!
This is a fine example of one.
AquaHolicsUK spinach is always the last ingredient to be added bc it cooks fast. She is insane
