I have a headset, it has a microphone, but no matter how many settings I change, it always refuses to work in game, the strange thing is that the headset works, the microphone in the headset works, but inside some steam game to chat with other players, it doesn't work, I tried all the methods you showed, none worked, I don't know what else to do, if anyone can help me I will be very grateful.

well you could try checking the default Mic that's set on your windows and make sure its the same mic set in game , and I also know that some games have voicechat blocked in some countries, but since your mic was working in that game previously I don't think thats the issue here. I'd try contacting the game support and tell them about your problem

Okay so guys I’m kinda dumb you have to have tf2 premium to speak in chat and voice chat so yeah just buy anything in the store or a Mann up ticket and you’ll get it

Which worked for me. I did a win 11 debloat and i guess it turned the mic permissions off. Any way hope this helps someone.

go inside actual steam settings in the top left of the app, the main settings drop down menu at the bottom has "voice" with a different layout to the one in this vid, this is cause steam had a new update. If this is poorly explained just reply so i can help.

Solution: Go into steam mic stettings and just mess with the values into your mic starts picking up accurately

when i go to friends and chat now there is no settings option. how do i get there now
Might be too late but if you click on steam at the top left of Steam you will see a drop down that says settings. from there you can click on voice.

my mic works in microphone test but in game is silent...
check the in game setting, look for any option related to microphone or voice input and choose your mic
