That dog he took at the end, if you look at the paperwork attached to the cage you may have seen that the dog was scheduled to be euthanised. So if John did not take that dog, then the dog would have been put down.
the conversation between francis (bodyguard at club) is so cool because when he is talking about the weight he's lost 60 pounds etc, he's actually telling john there is 60 people guarding vigo's son.

except he says it in metric system, "20 kilograms" and 60 pounds is around 28 kg. Which is more believable number of people.

I know the world has reacted to the action... but to me, Viggo recognizing the brevity of the issue... the entire scene until the moment of his first kill... it just cinematic gold. The acting by "Viggo" is SUPERIOR quality. I 'believe" every word he says.
While Taran Butler is well known for his standing as a world-class shooting champion and product innovator, he’s also the guy who takes many of Hollywood’s elite and educates them on how to look like they know what they’re doing in movies requiring handling of firearms. His adjunct trainers also play a role in churning out some well-rounded actors who bring reality to the silver screen.
Reeves trained at Taran Tactical in the handling of firearms for every John Wick movie to make it as accurate as possible. If a particular pistol only has 9 rounds to a mag, then it has 9 rounds in the movie. Reload speed, quick handling, etc. Are one of the things that makes the Wick franchise so good.
I love that you understand from the very beginning the value of the dog, the fact it was a gift for companionship. How he didn’t even get to grieve. It not just because it’s a dog.
I always figured the reason Iosef didn't know about John Wick was because John's been out of the business for over 5 years, and Viggo probably didn't start bringing Iosef into his business until after John left. John leaving the business coincided with Viggo suddenly getting what he needed for his operation to get big, so it makes sense that he'd bring his son into things when his organization was growing. Basically everyone who's been around since before he retired knows about John Wick, but the young punks who weren't around back then generally don't.
Also, the people that know John tend to be other assassins, people who've hired him or former assassins. Iosef doesn't really fall into any of those categories and after John left, there's no reason for Viggo to tell Iosef about him.
The last words in John Wick's video of his wife is "Come on John, Lets go Home", and the last quote of the movie is John saying to his new dog, "It's okay, Lets Go Home" 💔💔💔

also, John was retired for more than 5 years at the start of the movie and I can guess that son went in "business" somewhere during that period, so they just never met and Viggo couldn`t even thought that they paths would cross at any way, especially THAT way.

Regarding Jimmy at 21:56, directors actually explained that the police are aware of the assassins. Since they clean up their own mess usually, there is an understanding between the 2 sides. As long as the assassins keep everything away from innocent people, then they will be left alone.
It's part of why Jimmy takes his hat off at that point. He is not asking as a member of the Police Force at that point.
And as for why Iosef didn't know, probably sheer ignorance.
As for 47:10 ...yeah, definitely don't breakl the rules. You learn a little more about that in the next few films as they flesh out the world even more!
Keanu did extensive training with guns and being mobile that's why it looks so impressive
with John having essentially retired, the dad didnt think he'd ever have to tell his son about who John is/was. he wrongfully assumed that he'd never see John again so he didnt tell his son who Wick was and how to not fuck with him. he blames everyone else for what was essentially his own fault.
Josif Tarasov and his crew are basically no more than two-bit thugs, without the Tarasov name to protect them. They’re way too far down the food chain, otherwise. That’s why they don’t know about an elite assassin like Wick. He, and the other assassins in the Continental, etc., are LITERALLY out of their league. As for John Wick not being as good a fighter as the Russians, bear in mind he’s been out of that life about 5 years, so the old skill set is bound to be a bit rusty.

Loved your reaction. You asked an excellent question: 'How did Iosef not know who John Wick was?'. The only reason I could come up with is that since John was retired 5 years ago, it's possible that Iosef wasn't in the business until after John retired. He's in that 'I'm trying to impress' mode. Also, I thought it was impressive that the cop took off his hat before asking him if he was working again. To me, that was a sign of respect by removing his perceived superiority as a police officer. Way cool!!

I will never get tired of watching people react to this masterpiece. I wish I could watch it for the first time again. It's just SO good.
Just a note on your question about the kid not knowing about John. He has been out of the business for over 5 years. I am guessing Iosef is like 20-25 years old max. So he was a child or at least very young when all this went down and likely was not really aware of his father's business and especially not aware of the behind the scenes. He was probably off at University around that age too. And even if the name John Wick ever came up, this little young arrogant punk probably dismissed that info as old war tales.

After all, John did warn Perkins that breaking the rules was "unwise" ... :P
Once he explained why Daisy was so important to him that’s when they should’ve realized what the son did. He didn’t insult the boogeyman or poke a bear. He idiotically woke up and angered a grieving demon that had only one goal afterwards, which was to drag their souls straight to hell.
If you haven’t yet I strongly suggest that you watch the next three chapters of John Wick. They’re well worth the watch.

Another good one Rico. Also just watched this first time myself. An action movie basically designed by stunt coordinators. The action is clean and efficient, and you can basically always tell clearly what is going on, that Reeves is doing the work.

But the punishment of FEAR...Baba Yaga... The Boogeyman is a cautionary tale for young children to behave...
The blood spilt to punish the wrong doing of a petulant child in an adult's body is a reminder in that world that their actions are not unseen.
The Underworld of crime, corruption and money is allowed to flourish so long as innocent's are wronged.
John paid his dues to leave that world.
And so far as Vigo's son was concerned, he attacked a "nobody", vandalized his home, trashed a car he didn't want, stole the car he Did Want and killed the puppy of an "innocent nobody" that told him "No," BECAUSE that man said "No."

Gotta remember,,,,,,,,,,,,.........the father explaining to the son him doing the task that put his family on top,so his son was probably a child at that time in which didn't need to be explained to the son. The actor who ‘killed’ the dog, was so upset about it that he adopted the puppy 😊. Keanu worked for months for this film. He did all the stunts except for the fall from the balcony
Maybe someone has answered this already but the reason why is because iosef may know who john wick is by name and previous reputation but he doesnt seem to know what he looks like. Its only when his dad specifically told him you stole john wick's car and killed his dog, thats when iosef has that oh shit moment. Lol
Viggo made the vital mistake of never telling his son about John. His ass was arrogant and it led to all of their demises.
Basically all the people working in criminals related organisation know who John Wick is, like the police and other assassins

There is conjecture that John's wife was a veterinarian. She had a dog sent to him. He knew exactly where he could get meds and everything needed for his wounds. He watched the phone video of her right in front of the place he went to for the meds. He picked a dog that was scheduled to be put down. And as he walks away with the new dog he is walking the same route where his wife collapsed in the beginning.
You have an incredible rabbit hole opened before you now. Enjoy #2 and #3 soon. Each gets progressively better in a way. Number 4 is available now also.

To answer your question, from what I've read Iosef has only taken an interest in the family business recently, John has been out of the game for five years, and Viggo in his expansion vastly downplayed to all his new "employees" the role of John Wick in the family's rise, whilst warning those who had been with him longer to keep their traps shut. So, to the hangers-on who were drawn to Iosef, John was not a name they heard.

If you look closely at the cage of the dog at the end ot says "To be put down".
I highly recommend watching The Walking Dead, it's a pearl in the world of series along with Breaking Bad

great to see you're expanding out of Marvel. There are a lot of great movies and series out there to react to.
You're the first reactor I've seen to ask the big question that everyone else glosses over. In this universe where everyone upon everyone in all corners of the world knows or has heard of John Wick, we're supposed to believe the son of one of the head crime bosses has never so much as heard his name mentioned before? He's grown up around this criminal underworld his entire life, even if he potentially only became active in it recently. John has obviously been active and achieving legendary status during the sons entire adult life until just recently, so he WOULD have heard his name from someone, somewhere, even just in passing. People claim he wouldn't know him because Viggo never mentioned him, but that makes zero sense. When he's so well known to literally everyone involved in this world in every corner of the globe, Iosef would have heard his name SOMEWHERE

The son didn’t know about John Wick because John had gotten out of the business when he fell in love with his wife. So the son must have never seen him until he came out after his wife died. He must have heard about John but had never seen him in person.

Yosef seems like a self-obsessed party boy who "wreaks" of indulgence. He probably knows nothing of his father's business other than the few menial task his dad allows him to do. Besides hitmen usually dont advertise who they are or what they look like. The players in the game know who he is but someone on the outside would be clueless.
I dont know if that was the police or maybe neighborhood security. His lights were flashing red not red and blue. Jimmy was wearing a badge so i could be wrong. What are the odds that the police would be called for a noise complaint at his house, and it just so happens that the random cop responding just happens to know him and what he used to do for a work.

How did this guy not know about the John Wick franchise? It's one of the biggest film franchises out. Dude is to stuck on Marvel movies. There should be no way he hasn't even at least heard of the John Wick movies. He kept asking how the son never heard of John Wick. The irony in that question is astounding considering he himself never heard of the John Wick movies... smh at this guy. I wanna insult him because I think it's idiotic not to know about a film franchise as big and popular as 'John Wick' but I will refrain from insults.
