I don't know if you noticed but at the end, when he took the dog, there was a note on the kennel that said it was supposed to be euthanized by the next day. So he didn't take someone elses dog, he actually saved it.
In case no one has mentioned it - the blood trails from the puppy indicates she was dying, but used her last strength to crawl towards John so she could be near him in her final moments.
That is not the quote though. John had been out for more than 2 years so the pencil killings happened way earlier, but we never got a timeframe for it. "I once saw him kill three men in bar, with a pencil...with a fucking pencil.

The "Dinner reservation for 12" was just code when he was calling the clean up crew. You guys have to watch the next 2, they keep getting better and they expand on this underground world. Also Keanu did nearly all of the stunts and gun fighting, a stunt double was only used in a couple of scenes, the SUV hitting him being one.
The 12 also indicates the exact amount of men he killed in his house. The other scene where he tells Francis the Doorman to take the night off and that he lost 60 pounds since they've last seen is just another code for there's 27 guards. 60 lbs in non-freedom units is 27 KG.

He's been training in various martial arts for years and is heavily trained in the real gun tactics. Search RUclips for Keanu running a 3-gun course... he's the real deal.

Within seconds you become unconscious, blood pools around your right lung, and within a few minutes you can't breathe anymore as you basically down in your own blood
This movie excels in the realistic action scenes, I especially love the attention to detail, like reloading the guns and improvising when they’re completely out of ammo. The writers also did an excellent job with the world building and lore to these films. Can’t wait for you guys to see 2 and 3.

It is SO satisfying to call someone out and embarrass them in their own language. That moment of “you have no power here” and the look of realisation on their face is just one of the best feelings ever.
The lighting was clever in this movie too - it's not every scene, but sometimes. Whenever John is in blue, he's dangerous but not IN danger, (blue as he was digging up his guns), when it's red, he IS in danger (foreshow doing Perkins being in red at the bar) in the fight, and when it's yellow (in the Continental bar) he's neutral. That's why The Red Circle lighting kept going between blue and red as the advantages came and went for him. They do this in the second movie too - no spoilers from me here but a hint, they do it on the subway scene and when he faces more bounty hunters.
Someone on another reaction video noted that Viggo served his son, Iosef, the bottom shelf crap vodka in a cheap glass and even though he poured himself one, he never drank it WITH his son. Viggo just puts it back on the bar. Viggo punches his son, goes behind the bar, and then pours himself top end vodka in a top end glass and drinks it by himself. That's how low he thought of his son at that point.

Perkin's death never made much sense to me. Why would she meet up with Winston knowing she killed somebody on continental grounds. She was well aware of the punishments for that.
Check out the videos of him training at Taran tactical. He did almost all of his own stunts in this. The precision shooting he did was really him, no CGI. Of course it's all blanks but the fact is, he can shoot a gun. Very well.

Check out the videos of him training at Taran tactical. He did almost all of his own stunts in this. The precision shooting he did was really him, no CGI. Of course it's all blanks but the fact is, he can shoot a gun. Very well.

"I feel like John Wick is the opposite of a pussy". It's one of those things you run into with people who are comfortable with violence. They, being broken, damaged people, see any sort of rules or restrictions on that violence as cowardice or being a pussy. Such is the way of things.
