I like the theory that the reason the Great Stone Dragon doesn't wake up is because it already did. Mulan is the great dragon that protects her family. Also, Shan Yu is not surprised that Mulan is a woman because the Huns had female warriors in their army!

The story of Mulan comes from a very old poem. It is debated wether the poem is based on a true story, but it's just to old to really verify. As much as I love this movie, Mulan in the poem is just so much cooler. In the poem she takes the place of her father and younger brother, serves in the military for ten years fighting many many battles and rose to the rank of general. Can we also take a moment to realize that mushu just killed two people. Those poor souls in the fireworks tower jumped to her death because they were so scared of him. There is nothing around that tower so considering the high they are most certainly dead
There are a few endings. The cynical one is that she ends up as a concubine to someone. One of the other well-known ones and most popular is that she gets through the war undiscovered, it goes well, then her old squad mates visit her and are surprised to see her due to never knowing.
@@rachelchrist5961 I never heard of the pregnancy one as, given the time period, it would have been unlikely outside of a marriage that was arranged for her (as she was still living with her parents and not integrated into her husband's family and moved in with them).

one of my favorite lines in the movie is when The leader of there Huns say " The soldier from the mountain". Meaning did not care that Mulan was a women because in Hun culture women are allowed to fight so to him Mulan really was just another soldier.
"You now have a girl worth fighting for" Nah, you guys missed it. During that song, it was cut short when they arrived at the razed village and found the doll of a little girl who had presumably killed by the Huns in their raid. That was their girl worth fighting for.
This movie really is it. It’s so well written and clever. Like in the song Honor to us All. They say that a girl can bring great honor in one way. By striking up a match. Well that’s exactly how Mulan beat the hun army and brought honor to her family. Love things like that! Best Disney movie and great reaction!
mulan's origin has different variations, there was a short poem about her, some say that it's pure fiction from the poem, some say she really did go to war in place of her father without the dramatic saving china avalanche thing.
Favorite Disney movie! I rewatched it on repeat as a kid… also Bryce saying for grandma to talk nicely to him made me laugh so hard I started coughing 😂 loved the reaction guys!!
You guy’s are probably too young to know who Donny Osmond is but he sings I’ll make a man out of you. He had a variety show with his sister Marie. Huge teen idol in the 70’s. Such a good animated movie 😊 This was a fun reaction.
love that you guys watched mulan. just some historical facts that make this film interesting - the great wall of china has existed in some shape or form since before the 5th century BCE. the story of Mulan is based on a chinese folk song originating some time between the 4th and 6th century CE. the empire mulan fights so hard for eventually falls to the descendants of the huns, the mongols in the 13th century CE.
Something about this movie that I really liked since I was young is that shows that no matter who you are (boy or girl) you can achieve great things if you work really hard and don’t listen to people that always put you down. Is crazy how much I related to this movie growing up, because I’m a boy from the Americans that don’t know anything about the Chinese culture, but when the story is good and inspiring we all can relate too.
Mulan 2 is a great sequel!! Hopefully you guys will check it out one day. 😊💕 There's also a Jackie Chan music video to I'll Make a Man Out of You, where he sings the Chinese version and does martial arts moves... it used to be my favorite DVD extra because I found it so hilarious. 😂
Mulan is one of my favorite movies. I can probs quote it backwards and forwards. Just so many good messages and bops for days. Plus voiced by Ming Na who is an icon (and the only one to complete the Disney hat trick). Love seeing you guys react (found you from the Wednesday reactions)
What I absolutely love about this movie is this is how you write a great female character. Mulan isn't perfect and is at a disadvantage physically which is true to life. But she uses her others strengths, problem solving skills and works hard like everyone else to reach her goal and earn her new skill set. This is what makes her a bad ass whilst being a good role model.
The reason Shan Yu (the main villain) is green becaause it's Disney's way of indicating that he is truly evil. Same with Maleficents green fire, Dr Facilier's green magic, and Lady Tremaine's green eyes.
When I was a kid, my dad and I would watch this movie ALL the time. He really liked mulan ans the little mermaid 😅! Seeing this brought back so many great memories .
My guess is that some of you do not know much about ancient Chinese culture. The film is about their cultural lifestyles of the class systems that affected most Asian countries in the feudal era. Most Asian countries also put "saving face" as a top priority in public, which is why Mulan as a woman could not speak out of turn AND/OR talk back to any woman older than her without expressed permission. As a young woman whom was a "commoner" Mulan was extremely limited by the class system due to not being born into a prestigious family nor as a man. This made it so that there were practically NO good and/or decent jobs she wanted and her only recourse was to get married to a wealthy man or one in a higher social ranking than her own family. Thus the beginning of the film where she was going to the matchmaker to find a husband so Mulan could bring honor to her family house and name. (Part of which was reciting the rites she wrote in Chinese Kanji on her left forearm). In today's world most Asian countries have done away with the main principles of the class system, however in some nations such as communist Chinese states they still hold on to certain aspects of them. Although it has certainly gotten much better in modern times in such countries like Japan, South Korea, etc. Some Asian nations such as China and North Korea still give communism a bad name. In truth, Communism is NOT bad nor is it EVIL. It is ONLY as effective as the leader that employs it. The trouble with communism is that the world has NEVER had a man or woman of the people in place as their respective leader and has only known tyrannical dictators welding the seat of power. If an effective, kind, caring person with a decent heart ran a Communist country their people would all have a place to live, nobody would ever go hungry or without food, everybody would have jobs and the entire nation would pay the exact same tax rate (instead of the USA where the upper 1% can earn countless tax deductions to where they don't have to pay any taxes at all). I used to date and almost got married to a woman from Sichuan, China. I learned to speak a few words & phrases in Mandarin Chinese and a lot about Chinese culture. I firmly believe that your opinions come from culture clash and are ignorant due to non-experience with Chinese culture in general. Half of my immediate family is also Hawaiian & Filipino, so Asian lifestyle norms are ingrained in me due to my upbringing. I have gained a lot more acceptance & understanding of others outside my own nation due to my "Cultural Adaptation" course in college. The class taught students that if you think another country's customs, culture and/or lifestyle practices seem strange or bizarre it is because you are looking at their culture through your own culture's lens and viewing theirs in a one-sided perspective. However, if you are capable of removing your own self perspective from the equation you can learn to accept others for who they are without any prejudice or preconceived notions. It is my hope that this explanation has added some clarity to your meaning both behind Mulan's motivation, the impact of her actions and just how profound it was for her to be accepted by the emperor himself being that Mulan was a woman in feudal era communist China.
I love how Mulan is just very casual about Mulan literally is THE hero of china, they didn't make Mulan talk on and on about how she's a woman but can does whatever a man could. Perfect example of show don't tell. Yes they talked about how being a woman isn't good but she didn't allow that to make her basically a character like she hulk... she was just a girl doing her best and we love that W movie
Yeah. When the Emperor bows, EVERYONE bows. When I saw this in the theatre, and Mulan presents her Father with the crest and sword, my friend, impersonating the Father's voice, blurted out, "Oh God honey! PLEASE tell me you didn't kill the Emperor!" Killed the moment, but cracked up the theatre. N

Aside from Disney, she’s also a Broadway legend, having played multiple roles and made history as the first Asian to do so and the first to win a Tony Award for her performances 🎉 Great reaction guys! As a fan of this movie for its Asian representation and portrayal of strong women, I’m so happy you guys loved it and finally gave this movie a chance 🤍 New subscriber here, keep up the great content!
PERFECT TIMING !! i'm on break at work and mulan is my favourite disney "princess." she's badass and so inspirational
Forgive me for not believing you guys had good childhoods without having seen this movie, I'm sorry 😭🙏🏾
2:11 "He's a singer, right?"
😐"...Yup"
lmfao that got me good 😂
EDIT: just kidding, Bryce and Zuff very seriously stating the VA as "Adele" followed up with "Kate Upton" and Rob having to process two out of left field guesses in under one second beat the previous 💀crying
Rob as a kid jamming out to Mulan is too precious!☺ It was always Reflection for me 🥰 I would sing that at the top of my lungs! 🎙🎶😅
"I'll Make A Man Out of You", sung by '70's heartthrob Donny Osmond, is also my favorite Disney song of all time! It's actually on my music Playlist!
If you're looking for what to call a character that isn't the biggest villain, but seems to cause the most obstacles to the main character than the most evil person, the word "antagonist" might help. Thank you for your reactions!
Omfg rob's just speechless on how yall think that's Adele or kate upton lmaoooo
Growing up this was my favorite Disney “girl/princess” movie. Way ahead of its time, Still makes me cry every time.
so ahead of its time♥️ Mulan is one of the best Disney Princess’! This film is so monumental ✨
9:33 fun fact the singer who sang Mulan's Reflection is the same singer who sang Aladdin's A Whole New World as Jasmine. Her name is Lea Salonga, a Filipino broadway performer. She also performed in Les Miserables and many more iconic shows.
LMFAO @29:27 robs voice was so unexpected 😹
by far the funniest movie reaction
you guys are so funny without trying
Fun fact: Jackie Chan sang the Chinese version of I’ll Make a Man Out of You. He did a music video for it too.
It so feel good to watch movies with you three.. There something peaceful about it.. 🌺🌺
Mulan was a favorite of mine when it came out and it's such a great movie. My 13 year old daughter loves it and she has for forever. I'm pretty sure Mulan is her favorite princess
Can we also take a moment to realize that mushu just killed two people. Those poor souls in the fireworks tower jumped to her death because they were so scared of him. There is nothing around that tower so considering the high they are most certainly dead
Mulan's singing voice is by Lea Salonga. She's also Jasmine's singing voice in Aladdin. She's a Filipino musical and vocal legend.
“The greatest gift of honor is having you as a daughter”. Literal tears stream downed my face, till this day.
I didn't even recognize that was James hong this whole time...🤯. I'm ashamed 😂 thanks, guys.
This and Aladdin are my two all-time favourites!! So glad Zuff and Bryce have finally seen this ❤❤
The voice of the Emperor was by another great actor, Pat Moratti.... He was Mr. Miyagi in the original "Karate Kid" from 1984 🙂
The end of Mulan in the Ballad from where the movie was based off is actually pretty sad, she doesn't die, but she doesn't get the glory either.
There are a few endings. The cynical one is that she ends up as a concubine to someone. One of the other well-known ones and most popular is that she gets through the war undiscovered, it goes well, then her old squad mates visit her and are surprised to see her due to never knowing.
@@edstella wasn’t it to the emperor so she commits suicide. I think one is she’s was pregnant during one of the wars
@@rachelchrist5961 I never heard of the pregnancy one as, given the time period, it would have been unlikely outside of a marriage that was arranged for her (as she was still living with her parents and not integrated into her husband's family and moved in with them).
A great point in the movie is that Mushu couldn’t awake The Great Stone Dragon because it was ALREADY awake in Mulan, making her the keeper of her family.
Fun fact! I'm a history student and there was an event in which a large group of Chinese soldiers actually did dress up and claim they were palace concubines to breach their enemy's defenses
Who is singing?! Your guesses were CRAZY FUNNY! The incredible singing voice is the legendary Lea Salonga from Broadway's "Miss Saigon". She also did the singing voice for "A Whole New World" in "Aladdin". She is probably my all time favorite singer ever (I've been fortunate enough to hear her sing live in NYC & her voice is ANGELIC! 😇)
the singer on this is Lea Salonga she also sings in the Disney Alladin animation “ A whole new World” she also became the Miss Saigon. She is a Filipina ☺️. You can check her in youtube . She really have a Great Voice
one of my favorite lines in the movie is when The leader of there Huns say " The soldier from the mountain". Meaning did not care that Mulan was a women because in Hun culture women are allowed to fight so to him Mulan really was just another soldier.
"You now have a girl worth fighting for"
Nah, you guys missed it. During that song, it was cut short when they arrived at the razed village and found the doll of a little girl who had presumably killed by the Huns in their raid.
That was their girl worth fighting for.
Love this movie. You guys should do The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe!
Yes!! The Narnia movies are great
I remember watching this as a little girl and thinking that Mulan was so cool, when I have kids I will def show them this movie
Mulan is easily one of my favorite Disney movies!
4:48 okay but the bridgerton reaction reference 😭
This movie really is it. It’s so well written and clever.
Like in the song Honor to us All. They say that a girl can bring great honor in one way. By striking up a match. Well that’s exactly how Mulan beat the hun army and brought honor to her family. Love things like that!
Best Disney movie and great reaction!
I love this movie. I watched it a lot with my sister when it came out on VHS. I can't believe that you guys have never seen it before.
mulan's origin has different variations, there was a short poem about her, some say that it's pure fiction from the poem, some say she really did go to war in place of her father without the dramatic saving china avalanche thing.
Favorite Disney movie! I rewatched it on repeat as a kid…
also Bryce saying for grandma to talk nicely to him made me laugh so hard I started coughing 😂 loved the reaction guys!!
I vote you guys watch Disney's Hercules next.
I don’t care what you guys react to at this point… I’m here for whatever you guys choose. I just love watching your reactions in general 😂🎉
Fun fact: Filipino singer Lea Salonga is the voice for Mulan’s “Reflection” and Jasmine’s “A Whole New World”
Better than the live action reboot from 2020.
This is my ultimate favorite Disney movie and I'm so glad you guys liked it! Thank you for such a great reaction ☺️
And a true story.
The bird shit in the hand joke had me screaming 😂😝
HIGHLY RECOMMEND WATCHING THE SEQUEL! The songs are super good and the story line is pretty good as well!
I'm pretty sure Shang started questioning his sexuality when he started to fell in love with Ping. Hahaha
15:35 “these guys look like they’re from hell “ lmao that’s honestly a great description though
Rob, your singing is lovely.
The reason Shan Yu (the main villain) is green becaause it's Disney's way of indicating that he is truly evil. Same with Maleficents green fire, Dr Facilier's green magic, and Lady Tremaine's green eyes.
“Be a Man” - so good, Jackie Chan covered it, complete with his own choreography in Kung-Fu form!
one does not simply not sing a long to "i'll make a man out of you" easily one of the best Disney songs ever
“So stop harassing in the comments” 😂😂😂
“He’s just a regular cricket guys”
😂
Literally when I'm taking a bath I will just belt out the lyrics.... It lives rent free in my brain as well as my heart....
I love how Mulan is just very casual about Mulan literally is THE hero of china, they didn't make Mulan talk on and on about how she's a woman but can does whatever a man could. Perfect example of show don't tell. Yes they talked about how being a woman isn't good but she didn't allow that to make her basically a character like she hulk... she was just a girl doing her best and we love that W movie
the fire on the towers of the Great Wall of China served as communication-signals that warned the soldiers of enemy troops
I would love for you to watch Mulan II, its quite funny, not the same vibe but pretty good.
I stg I watched this every day for a year straight when I was a kid. Such a stunning movie, amazing heroine.
One of my fave Disney flix! Man out of You is such a classic Disney track
lmaoo
I always love your reactions to animated movies, I've gotta say they're one of my favs alongside the kdrama and anime ones... Actually, now that I say it, I might as well say I like all of them XD
