The knives aren’t the issue, the weak justice system in the UK is the problem. They let violent criminals back onto the streets after 10 minutes of community service. No wonder they re-offend.

problem with this is, putting them in jail where they could meet other dangerous criminals that do worse crimes like drug dealing which means they’ll be carrying a knife anyway. they’ll be trapped in the system when really we should be educating and making them actual people

Yeah man in my country in Sweden you can’t carry any weapon on streets at all so they found loophole that if you are under 15 and murder you will only get 3 years of “child rehab” (no prison time) so criminals just offer 12-14 year olds money to murder. And also now bombs are being used to blow up houses/entries of apartments since it’s hard to find evidence of who did it. Criminals will find a way no matter what

The part about it being easier to get away with a gun crime than knife is absolutely bonkers. The gun leaves all sorts of DNA. You get gun powder blast all over you that easily gives you away. The gun itself is traceable whereas a knife isn't. They can track the bull and see if it came from the same gun.
The act of shooting someone is easier than stabbing in terms of being less bloody and being more detached from the act, but the gun is also really loud and alerts EVERYONE nearby. Whereas you can quietly stab someone and run off.
Also, you can clean the knife from DNA evidence.

People make knives out of tooth brushes in prison, banning knives really isn't going to solve a damn thing. The only real solution is to give a life sentence to anyone caught carrying a knife in public. If you have extreme punishment, the crime takes care of itself. Look at Dubai, you can literally leave a wallet full of cash on the side of the bar and walk away for 2 hours and come back and it'll be untouched, this is because they cut your hands off if you steal in Dubai, which is why crime is almost non existent there.
The problem is criminals will use whatever's next. Ban guns? Gun crime goes down, but other crimes go up. Ban knives? Same thing. You need to dig the roots to fell a rotting tree, not pull at its branches
UK has less knife crime than the US per capita, we didnt swap gun crime for knife crime.

The law in the UK regarding knives is actually very good, it's illegal to carry a knife out in public without a good reason. If you're found with one but have a good reason, it's likely it will be confiscated until the police verify your reason. For example, you are a private chef and take your own knife set to your clients houses, or you are going camping and have a pen knife - Fine. But if you are out shopping on the high street with a bowie knife in your pocket, your going to jail.
The problem is guys, and I hate to have to be the one to break this too you, but criminals don't care much for the law

We have a ban on guns there’s still a ton of those, you can’t ban knives anyway because even if you do it wouldn’t change anything cos the people who carry them won’t stop because it’s better to have it and not need it than the other way around. The only potential fix is actual prison sentences rather than an hour of community service & then the banning of carrying knives in public without certified paperwork would carry a proper consequence that may help a bit
And yes for the American people, we do have guns here they’re just illegal but doesn’t mean people don’t have them - when I lived in Coventry a few years ago one of my last weeks there in the space of the same week we had 3 shootings with pistols, 1 guy got shot with a shotgun & one 14 year old male kid stabbed a 16 year old girl in the neck with scissors

@@RM-56 depends where you’re from, I know loads of people who carry knives. Both for self defence and just as a tool. I tend to hang around with a lot of conservatives though so it’s probably more common in that group.
