Cabin Denmark reading lights for yachts, boats, vessels and ships
Our marine grade lights are especially designed and proofed for a long life at sea. They are designed for surviving in a wet, salty, rocking and vibrating environment.
The first ever especially designed yacht light for reading.
This is the beginning of Cabin Denmark.
Look at the Cabin and Ocean Series. Danish Design at it´s best.
Nearly all our reading lights are also avaible as chart lights.
Cabin Denmark was established in 1990 by Paul Münster.
He bought the rights to produce and sell the Frigast Cabin Lamp - designed by Povl Frigast in 1977 which still is an unbeatable champion among yacht lamps.
In the meantime the lamp program has developed to a large range of all kind of lights needed at sea.
Not only the reading lights but all the light from curtesy to mast lights.
Our lights are designed for yachts but are also used in cruising vessels, hotels, libraries, restaurants, private homes and everywhere light is needed.
It is made in Denmark and offers the best possible lighting solutions while using only the finest raw materials. The production is made by Münster Cabin ApS and a number of specialized Danish sub suppliers and sold to all over the world.
The company is placed in Sønderborg on the island Als in the South of Denmark. The number of employees has grown from 1 to 6 very dedicated employees. Who have a great honor in making the best quality to ensure the owner of all the Cabin lamps the best light in class.
Light is our passion!

Hi Fiona and Graham have a great day you always so busy take care 👍❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you for the nice broadcast. My mom used to iron everything; including under garments, which I always thought was a lot of extra work! I hope that lamp will work for you after all that work you did shining it up! God Bless you all =).
Gosh Graham that has come up beautifully 😍 xxx
I love it when something is refurbished and made better, like swapping out a bulb for an LED light, producing an improved product.
Today I learned that you can use steel wool to get the green oxidized bits off of brass. Thanks Fiona!! Watching Graham clean up and research the electric components of that gorgeous vintage fixture was fascinating. I love bringing old antique and vintage items back to life.
Good job on polishing it up, Graham. Now you can 'shine a light' on things. Next you need a telescope to repair then you can 'look through a new lens'. M will be green with envy 🤢🤢 🤣🤣
Fiona, you are just the person to teach Megzie what an iron is, how to iron and not "toast" the pillowcases!
What vintage are the boat and the house?
Oh, you just said, early '70s for boat.
I spent a lot of my youth on lobster boats off New Hampshire coast. Then just cruising fresh water Lakes Region. Used to beach boats when hurricanes threatened. In the spirit of Sir Francis Drake.
Thank you for sharing your projects, etc.
Beautiful job Graham , polishing up the brass light fixture. I think you and Fiona , could present a DYI show. Thank you I Enjoyed the vlog. Take care & God bless .❤
I love the light fixture looking aged, the newer ones all shiny don’t have as much character,
Your light must more solid, Good old brasso , my mum use to polish all the antique brass she had, Those tins last years too. .
I am the same Fiona I used to iron the sheets, but now only do the pillowcases
Thanks for shedding a little light on the history of the lamp😀
It will brighten my day! (and night)
You have done some very interesting work today. You didn’t have the right genie - no beer!!! Thank you so much for sharing Graham. Y’all do lovely work. Take care and stay positive!!!
P.s. wd40 is top, but it used to have a very heavy smell to it. In the house, I don’t use it.😝😂
Polishing brass is a hard job, lots of elbow grease . Nice job always nice to restore the original.
There was Brasso, then there was something Duraglit, and we had to help mother with the polishing every bloody week.
Duraglit is/was for silver.
I haven’t ironed for years. I just put everything in the tumble for 10-15 minutes.
Love the brass light ! Good for you Fiona, my sister n law irons all her sheets , I feel like the top sheet needs it but I’m too lazy 😮
❤❤
It's beautiful, love brass and old stuff.😊
Very good job on cleaning the brass light, Graham.
Pretty little fixture.
That is an awesome light Graham. Old brass has great character to it. You're right in not wanting to polish off all the patina🌻I hope that you can get it working again, if not rehang it anyway for look of it.
Like Graham, I often watch docs on WWII
Dad was a US DDay vet, when I was a kid he constantly rewatched Olivier narrating "World at War." I got so tired of it as a kid...
Now, I find myself rewatching those very same videos!!! Salute!!!
For the past 3 years i have been renovating a 100 year old little manor house in Greece. All brass fittings and some very weathered....the best was a paste of bicarb and lemon juice....coat thickly and leave for about 20 minutes...scrub off with a scouri g sponge & toothbrush....repeat if neccessary
Looks great! I agree, keep the patina!
♥️from Pittsburgh
Nice work on the lamp! I love to see old
Things restored and kept in use. When was your boat built? Y’all are doing an amazing job with it. Fiona - I iron pillowcases too, and on rare occasions I iron the linen dinner napkins when we have a dinner party.
Our boat is a 1975 Chris-Craft, and some of the stainless and cleats can be found on earlier models going back to the '30s and '50s
No Fiona not poor boy or scratchy pad. Best brass cleaner is ketchup, it breaks down the dirt and tarnish. Put it on and let it sit then start rubbing with soft t-shirt rag or microfiber. I like microfiber just don’t wash with fabric softener. Tricks of a Housekeeper lol. 😆🇺🇸
I use ketchup too
Yes, tomato sauce/ketchup...I discovered this by accident. I think it is the acid in it. Makes it brilliantly clean! However, I agree with you, Graham that it looks good as it is now.
Hello Graham and Fiona, The brass light after Fiona cleaned it up and it shined really looks nice. 👍👍👍👍
😃
Can't wait to see where you place the light on the boat after you rewire it.
Hi Graham, one day could you please show us how you get power & water on the boat and how waste water is managed / disposed of? I know nothing about boats and I’m curious how you manage these things.
Love the lamp. I'd fix the swivel bracket to the stalk and use it as a candle holder 😊
Shine a light! (very mild expletive!)
That brass lamp has cleaned up like new. A sense of achievement.
That light is cool ❤❤
Lovely little light. It’s coming up a treat Graham, hope you manage to get it working again!🤞
I thought the thumbnail was photo of ancient Baron Hesketh goblet that you found with the closet cleanout! 😆
Who waters the roodtop garden ehilevu are gone
Hi Graham my Wysteria is flowering really well too ,for the first time ,I remembered to hard prune it in Dec. Apparently we are back to hard frost for weekend in Somerset.
Where are you planning on shining a light ?😂
I only iron Linen 😂😂.
Ironing is not my favourite pastimes....
It's beautiful!
Hi Fiona. What brand is your pool hoover? I have a jacuzzi in Italy, and the hoover looks like something we could invest in to keep it clean.
I will ask her, she got it on Amazon.
That light is so cool. It has come up real good.
Thanks for sharing these things with those of us who know nothing about how these things work.. let alone pull it apart and put it back together 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hiya, is there another one that would give you a pair? Nice if it was. Take Care Graham, love to Fiona! 🦋🏴🇬🇧🦋
Unfortunately not
@@grahamthebaronhesketh. Hiya Graham, thx for the reply. That’s a shame but at least you have one. Maybe you could search the internet for someone selling an old one off cheaply. Better still, go and see if there are any boats like yours in a scrap merchants!! It’s surprising what you can find out there. Take Care, Anne 🦋🏴🇬🇧🦋
You both are fabulous ❤❤❤❤ love the brass light fixture, looking forward to the finished piece!
Doesn't your boat have a hull tag?
Yes it does it was an early fibreglass hull made by Halmatic in Portsmouth.
Fiona, I have to iron all the bedsheets.🤦🏼♀️ if not, they don’t look proper at our home or at the in-laws. We are preparing ourselves for the death of my Mother-in-law. How she is lovely now, is how she was questionable with me. You are both lovely people. Thank you for being you.
