The RUclipsr tppo also did a Mika Pikazo art study last year! Its really neat to see the different take aways you guys got from her style! Another one I would recommend a study of would be Rella, she has some crazy uses of lighting, you know its her if you find a beautifully lit piece of a vocaloid or evangelion character. Oh! And as long as it doesn't cause you troubles with copyright (please don't risk it if it does) would it be possible for future study times about, say, big IPs or video game styles? Like, what makes the mass effect style different from its competition like halo for example. Probably a lot to ask for, but I just wanted to throw some ideas at the board and see if it helps. I hope to one day pick up your art school program! I can't buy it right now, but its definitely a long term goal to get it one day!
for anyone that liked this video there a youtuber named tppo that also analyzes other artists style in order to understand them better and his videos are very high quality! he also did a video about Mika Pikazo that i recommend watching
Please do more videos like these, it's so helpful for everyone, especially advanced artists trying to level up their art. Would love to see Rolua next✨
Holy sheesh bro. It's really hard to breakdown art like these especially when the artist puts really advanced hidden techniques! Goodjob on spotting these techniques normally one couldn't catch at first glance! Really helps level up my techniques for art!
I fell in love with Mika's art several years ago now, definitely one of the most unique styles out there IMO. This kind of technical breakdown of her art was super interesting to watch, and I feel like this kind of content helps in training an artist's eye so has benefits beyond copying or mimicking another style. Thanks as always for the content, both myself and many others would be lost without this channel!
It's fascinating to me how you were able to process all this stuff and reverse-engineer it even as a seasoned vet. It's also fascinating to me how Mika Pikazo figured this stuff out all on her own. I heard somewhere that due to how the Japanese language is structured, it changes the way the brain works in some amazing ways. There might be some truth to that because on the flip side as a slav when I look at my brain's modus operandi, the words "It Just Works" come to mind... And on that note, thanks for dumbing things down to a digestible level. 😁
I doubt it's due to linguistic differences. According to the linguistics class I took at university, the theory that your spoken language shapes your thinking has been largely debunked. Still, I'd believe that larger cultural differences can influence the way you work.
Mika Pikazo's and Yoneyama Mai's styles are my favorite. I am currently still in the process of finding my own artstyle after ~3 years of doing digital art, but I love learning lot about theirs.
I love this so much! I've seen similar breakdown videos but really really value yours because your experience and skill as an artist enables you to pick up on and understand the key concepts (how mika uses patterns, colours and detail or space) and techniques/tricks (half tones + hard mix blend) mika uses that I wouldn't have been able to see myself. Everything is explained and shown so clearly and I appreciate the effort you put into learning another artists style! And it's also really cool to see you apply them in a new piece of your own. Really hope to see more!!
this is extremely helpful thank you so much 😭❤️❤️❤️ I've seen a couple style breakdown videos and from every each i was collecting something for me. please do Ask style breakdown also. i've seen some of that, but she is STILL a mystery to me
Next month is my bday, i am trying to get a drawing tablet from my parents, since they cost more than what i get per year lol, if i can convince them, then I'll definitely come back to this video, Mika Pikazo is one of the first artist that I actually liked the art of, her coloring is just so captivating
Please do more of these! it's difficult to find videos of this technique, but it's absolutely the most important thing for advanced artists to do once they have a good grasp of the fundamentals. It's really the only way I study art nowadays, and I love seeing master level artists' break down of iconic styles~ there are not a lot of tutorials geared towards higher level artists ❤
haven't been able to draw in a while, but being able to follow exactly what you're doing because i learned it from you previously it's always seamless.
I also tried studying her techniques last year but this video really shows a lot of her techniques that I missed out. Really helpful! I hope you can try Lack's art style as well.
Marc, you're my savior!! I LOVE videos like these and I'd really like to see you break down how Wenjun Lin do color and value. They're like really bright and highly saturated, yet it's still really beautiful! Thank you 💕💕
thank you for the breakdown! ive seen her process before, but it always slips by my understanding how she went from the duplicated layer into the colours so thank you for explaining it. if possible, i'll hope to see if you can do a studies break down for Namie (nambarimasu) as well, an illustrator from australia who did works for many gacha games.
If this ever becomes a seires I would love to see a Guweiz episode, love his style and how he uses dark values, almost pure blacks and still make it very eye appelieng!
Please do keep doing these. Also it is refreshing to see you replicating anime styles more faithfully like this. I'll admit, when I once heard you say you "used to draw anime", I thought you just ran into the same info hole roadblock as many westerners do and just gave up on going for that style, but I guess it really was an artistic choice for you
I take a moment to say it's ultra-refreshing seeing you study other artists and decipher the advanced technics they use for educational purpose. I think it'd be a good idea to push your channel in this direction. I'm a bit late to the party but hey, have a good year.
Fantastic! I love how you explain the things on a such easy way! Marc was hiding his Sharingan for the whole time lol! Also, i WILL be one of your students one day that's for sure!
super dooper cool, she must use a lot more detailed and complex methods in her works but this was a really great way of simplifying her art style, amazing!
As a subscriber for 2-3 years (i dont really remeember but i know i discover marc quite some time after stepping digital art around 2021 and i can tell that this videos the editing and the graphic design this past few videos improved a lot again. My master can be a new proko from quite some time
i would love to see a breakdown of something with a more classic look next! Would love to see something like this for an artist like Simon Stalenhag or Taran Fiddler
This is a great video. It's really amazing to see you break down the whole process into these steps. Maybe you could do a video on holding the image you want to see in your mind. Personally it can be difficult not to and can result in distortions.
Thank you! I really like this series if you’re planning on doing it more, it really helps to understand their thought process. If you’re taking recommendations on artist to make a video out of, Wlop is amazing! Thank you for taking your time and effort, it really helps
Incredible modern digital art Master Study. Some serious Batman investigation skills there to breakdown the process and explain it and still stay true to your style. I never knew who she is until your update last week. Watching a quick reel of her art and I’m like “ow! Dayum!!!” She’s amazing. Out of this world art!
WE GOTTA GET MAX GREEKE SOMETIME! Marc, You're really motivating me to get back to drawing, and I wanna crush this year with your tutorials and resources! Love ya.
I’ve watched this video like four times over and not becuase it isn’t structured well but becuase there is so much good information and stuff to learn from it, great video thank you for the tools to make my own art a lot better, please do more videos like this
That's amazing, I would love to see more vids like this! There is this artist called LAM/ ramdayo, their style is a bit similar to Mika's but it has it's own quirks. There is also another artist with a very cool style named Toridamono. Would love to see a video on either of those!
I'd love if this became a series! using your years of experience to study and break down the techniques of pro artists with complex styles, would be so cool >;D
I'll definitely try incorporating some of these ideas into my works in the future! I already do some of these tricks. Most of my art probably won't use these techniques, because I don't typically draw characters like this, but I'll for sure try it out since I vibe with her aesthetics a lot.
One of the biggest inspirations to study art studying another artist i respect, trully is cinema. I suggest another japanese artust named Wada Arco or Shirow Miwa, both are amazing
Finally got this thing done! No idea if this was worth it or not, but if you liked it shoot me other popular artists for these study time episodes 👀😘😘
Could you do dino_illus or hungry clicker for a future episode?
Yuming Li is an amazing artist with a very appealing style, I think it would make for a great video :))

Could you do Matcha🍵

hey thanks nerd
bless you dude!
@@pb5335😂❤
I was wondering if Marc got the idea from tppo
@@orenjikunArtthe videos teach different things from mika's art, probably inspiration, not a copy
Another artist with a unique graphic style is LAM. A study on his art would be very interesting and helpful.
I had been referencing this artist the past couple of days. Marc continues to be a wizard who understands his viewers.
And you're the wizard for seeing trough another wizard ❤
I have so much respect for artist who are able to balance a ton of details, while maintaining a strong focal point!
I love you Marc
Thank you for always teaching us to be great artists
I can feel the intense love from down here ❤

the tppo wave
This video will help me so much, i remember wishing for something like this when i first saw her art since i love how chaotic it looks

MIKA PIKAZO MENTION!!! 🗣️🗣️🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥

Damn the trick with halftone filter and hard mixing it with smudge brush is so smart for quick color variations. I've never thought about it!

Mika's artstyle is best defined as "order out of chaos".

Wow Marc! I am amazed by how humble you are. Usually new artists do this stuff. You might not be the best artist but you are the best art instructor
PLEASE do more studies based on artists
Mika Pikazo's art is really vibrant.
So happy to see many people on youtube talk about Mika Pikazo, her art is literally Drug Art
