- The Xenomorph Queen is the Apex of the Aliens, but is there a king for this Alien Monarchy? The Alien King, either unconfirmed, or ultra rare, is a massive, and terrifying alien. Perhaps existing in the largest of Hives, a possible mutation or stage advancement of the Praetorian, the Palatine, or maybe even the Queen. What is a Xeno King?

I think a King could work well in a Xenomorph hierarchy, whereas a Queen is focused on reproduction and expanding the hive I imagine the King would be in charge of maintaining and keeping the hive protected, kind of like a hive mind strategist.
The Queen being focused on the quantity of the Xenos while the King is focused on the quality of the xenos.

it would be more likely like in insects, for example bees have a queen that lays eggs, 95 percent of the rest of the bees are infertile females that are workers and a male bee that serves to fertilize the queen and after that the workers throw him out

@@thehippie3610at that point, the term "king" would just be a nickname for "giant variant" where it doesn't need to serve a command role, but rather its job is to go destroy a big enemy or threat. Still a cool concept and something new.
The King would protect the hive and command the soldiers to kill off any significant threat, while the Queen would produce more eggs and command the drones to harvest any harmless hosts to create more Xenomorphs.
We need an alien movie with the xenomorph king.
Honestly, the idea/concept of an Alien King is intriguing. As for it's role within the hierarchy, I would imagine that it's a more offensive version of a Queen Xenomorph. Considering the physical traits we've seen on them, They're bigger, bulkier, heavily armored and well equipped with natural weaponry that seems to imply that the Xeno King would take charge as a General of sort amongst the ranks of the hive. Taking charge of the Hive's protection while the Queen (as well as an Empress and even Queen Mother) would focus on their primary function of increasing the Hive's population. Let's be fair, Xenomorphs are scary, Queens and other variants are terrifying... so the sheer thought and sight of a Xeno King, basically a physical powerhouse, would be an utter nightmare for anyone who is unfortunate to be in it's line of sight and path. I would absolutely love to see this on the big screen in one form or another. Just seeing this hulking beast wrecking house would an utter delight to witness.

Honestly, given it's armor, it's size and how Xenos mutate. It stands to reason that a King would most likely be at least a Royal Guard who's given Royal Jelly for protecting the hive with due diligence. Though again this prolly rarely happens
I really love the later concepts of the xeno kings. It would be awesome for one to be featured in a film where other xenos are present but the king commands a presence in the film similar to the T-Rex of Jurassic Park where its activities heavily influence the story, it lurks behind the scenes causing anxiety, it is extremely dangerous and hostile to all parties and makes two or three major climactic scenes.
Loving the xenomorph content boss love the idea of an alien king I personally think it would simply act as a protecter of the queen and over see the hive while the queen lays her eggs
The problem with that is that it's a more mammalian than insectoid behavior.
Xenomorphs are not bears, lions or primates, they're supposed to be some kinda freaky ants or spiders or some other creature humans can't relate to (with some perversion of human anatomy just to make them even scarier).

@Dhakadice don't think that's a hundred percent true. The insect characters are the obvious. But drones and warriors have shown to have a miniature hierarchy based on a mammal caste system.

@@Dhakadice They should not be like ants or bugs, which are predictable. The alien ought to be capable of creating a limitless amount of variations and stay unpredictable. The moment we can make complete sense of it, it losses its scaryness. The idea that they can come in more monstrous variations that previously imagined is fantastic. That said, it doesn't have to be called a "king", in that it doesn't need to mate with the queen. Rather, the "king" ought to be just a giant monster variant. If the hive is being attacked by something one a regular basis which the warriors are struggling with, then it makes sense for the queen to lay a special egg for a facehugger that will implant a host with a "big monster" variant. Much more simple than needing to completely reinvent the hierarchy of the hive. To quote the Hulk, "but Big Monster!?" Yes indeed, big monster, because it's cool.

The Queen protects the home from with the Praetorians and the King takes the warriors to expand the hive territory and conquer rival hives

@@danielled8665yet every civilization fell shortly after becoming monarchial, England doesn't count because technically the queen is more like a president but within a bloodline. Meaning there were a ton of government officials that did most of the work. She was more or less a glorified scape goat that also got the privilege of taking all credit.

Monarchy doesn't only mean king. Emperor or Pharaoh fill the same functional roll.

It's all beside the point, women have ruled just fine without a king, often better, plenty of times. Especially when Marriage would have given her power to her husband in many cases.
A Note to the Alien King in the board game: features are thicker due to the process of creating miniatures in a centrifugal mould. If a feature is too thin it will break when removed from the mould, or the plastic won't flow into a feature leading to damaged miniatures.
In modern times Resin 3D printers solved this issue.
This, and for the most part, the bulkiness of the tabletop game pieces, is also a stylization that is consistent for fantasy board games. The Sideshow statue would still be closer to the shape I'd imagine the creature, but I'm fine with the increased overall scale. Something 15 meters is a colossal xenomorph monstrosity indeed. I wonder if that's when standing fully upright or when hunched over like a T. Rex. Either way, still huge.

A king alien could only really exist if human beings/WeylandYutani were experimenting with the xenos again kinda like the newborn as the queen doesn't need a king she's aggressive enough and more than capable.of protecting her hive, I'd like to see what a king could look like in live action though it could work if they manage to create a new lore and it made sense

If that’s the case, it would’ve been part of the later stage of the Xenomorph hive by adding a King as a male Xenomorph that allows the Queens and Empresses to breed more Xenomorphs without the need of Facehuggers to adapt in hazardous environments.

i think the idea that the king is a only one thing as the brood mother is, alone be his size, so that he protects the main hive + it would make the home planet of all xenos much more scary

id like this to be a commander xenomorph that leads fellow xenomorphs to war or if there is an alien queen and an alien king the king will make the hive then mate with the queen and then the queen will start laying eggs so the king alien will go out to search for hosts and gather them up and bring them to her
I imagine as a Praetorian is a Queens Guard. A Xenomorph King would be a Hive mother's Guard. To help command an entire planetary defence.

Always liked the Alien King, and to think we might of seen it in AvP 3. I remember the first appearance of it, it was a man made Xeno that killed the others and tried to kill the Queen. Other then toys, a board game, a comic run and some concept art that never happened there is no way to know for sure how it would work. I mean given how the Xeno's are created outside a Queen there is zero need for a King or the whole male female thing. Though the comic version wasn't natural, I figured a natural one would not only be extremely rare but killed off as soon as it pops up. That it would be an abomination and instinctively hated. That the King would try to kill the Queen and takeover the Hive, and if there are other Hives near by he'll lead his Hive to do the same thing to them. Again I'm just guessing since the Rogue is the only one we've seen in action, and he wasn't natural 🤷♂

Maybe they are like praetorians to an empress xenomorph or something much much larger and nastier than can be imagined and unknown.
With AI technology improving at a rapid rate, I hope we end up seeing fan-made versions of unmade movies like AVP3 and so on. Or even live action versions of comics novels and comics like Earth Hive or the AVP comics/games.
The king is the General of the hive it's apart of if they have one because since the kings are the biggest they are only found in the biggest and the kings are not capable of reproducing they are made for combat only and the kings are almost always a little bit taller to towering over a queen
I know it's fiction but a "xenomorph King" would be kinda like a "bee king" or "ant king".
Their society was obviously modeled after insects (rather than mammals) in order to make them even more "alien".
Also, having a central leader ruling over other colonies would suggest sapience, which goes against the whole idea that xenomorphs are non-sapient creatures driven by pure instinct (which is the reason they were designed without eyes).

No, they were originally not based off any of those bugs in the first movies, and more so wasps. Later on they were based off of TERMITES, with a bit of bees. Ants get used because of the association with queens & hives more so. But since they do NOT have a sex, calling them "queen" is dumb and you can also call them "king."

No, they are based some-what (meaning lightly, not heavily) on ants & termites. For you to say they are not important means you know nothing of termites, and by you logic (or a possible lack of) the queen is not important and could have died off instead of evolve after laying a certain amount of eggs.
Look up termites a bit more to understand difference between normal male mate and king. Also, xenos are based off bees.
They are more termite, then bee, and finally ant based if anything in structure, BUT NOT BIOLOGY. Plus, they have no sex, so queens can be called a king.

they are very rare just like the pretorians but they do come out from time to time only usually when one of the hives becomes to large for just one queen to control then either a few pretorians emerge or very rarely a king will come into play they are not spliced with human dna they only come when a queen is i need of help with a giant hive then the king comes in to play and help with the hive

lots of ppl already stated this, but i too believe the king's role is that of a commander or even a general amongst its kin.
others might jave already stated this as well, but i think the king is formed during the later stages of a hive/colony. i do love the idea of a king xeno caste rather than the bioweapon in the comics.
my theory is that the king either one of the final stages of an apex hive/colony, in which the xenos have infested an entire planet. either a drone or warrior from within the hive that has the most superior qualities will undergo a metamorphosis as certain chemical hormones and signals will being.
there can be multiple queens, this much is certain especially in the new alien game. and while an empress is the ruling body of an apex hive (1 empress per infested planet), there will be times either one of the other queens might try to challenge the empress or even extra planetary hostiles were to descend upon a world, a king would be summoned to protect the other matriarchs/empress as it will act as sorta like a Supreme commander that coordinates other caste members in dealing with the threat.
it is possible that xenomorphs have had to adapt to more dangerous threats (other space farring civilizations trying to sterilize them), so to combat these more aggressive threats, a king is needed.
the king will still obey the empress/queen mother. the reason for the more aggressive design of it is perhaps an evolutionary trait to make it more combative role, prioritizing on offense.
regarding the tusks, the possibilities of other kings isn't out of the question, and perhaps when there are two empresses that design to take command of an apex hive, they will call upon their king to battle one another to decide which genetic template of whichever hive is superior than the other. once a king is victorious, the other empress will receed back to a queen role, or the victorious empress will sic her champion upon the loser, killing the opposing empress. the queen mother perhaps either has her own king to protect her or even multiple kings acting as her praetorian guards.
I also think the tusks might also be symbolic, as the queen's head crest is supposed to represent a crown, while the king's is that of a battle hardened warrior like how some ancient armies had horns on their helmets.

That would actually make sense for a Xenomorph hive. The king contributes to the survival of the hive by assaulting anything that puts up enough resistance to not be immediately consumed. It could take SADAR hits and keep on going while Ravagers themselves have their regenesis state and can get back into the battle even after sustaining seemingly mortal wounds. The king could also be an effective tool to force newborn xenomorphs to learn and adapt to exigent circumstances to better serve the hive. Rather than doing what they normally do and Zerg rush.
It could also mean that the king would effectively be like a khan with his roving horde. Praetorians report to the King while faster runners could sniff out enemy positions and relay them to the praetorians quickly.

Ngl. While these all look cool. They astray dramatically from the original Giger designs. Which IMO are far better at tapping into out fears. The sexuality of the smooth carapace. And the long more delicate fingers really evoke something darker. These just feel massive And beefed up. Still cool. But for me. It’s always gonna be about gigers original concept art.

I feel like honestly the idea of a king is kinda dumb. An alien queen was not based on human monarchy, but insects. In the insect world queens make sense, kings don't, since the only purpose of the queen is lay eggs. The only time I give the idea a pass is the novel/comic Rogue because it was created outside the natural order being genetically engineered.
Another reason I think the idea's kinda lame is because we don't always need something bigger and badder to outdo what came before in the realm of entertainment. I mean when do we stop. Already in the alien franchise there's a queen, an Emperoress, an Emperoress Warrior, a King, and a Queen Mother...
