I agree, but Copper Blue at the time was the most grossing independent produced label. He had a falling out with Warner Bros. So he went independent. It was a great move for him.

The album is definitely one of the best of the 90s, but back in the day I don’t remember any of my friends buying it except for one, so it was criminally overshadowed by the big grunge bands. This one and the The Act We Act are easily two of the best alt rock songs of the decade IMO.

Coincidentally, I had started a relationship with the first real love of my life around the same I became familiar with Sugar. They performed at the Sunstroke festival in Dalymount Park. There was an excellent lineup that included Belly, Sonic Youth, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and Faith no More as well as Sugar. I don’t there was one bad performance but I think for me, Sugar stood out above the others even though FNM were the the headline act. I recall it being a very warm day with barely a cloud in the sky which at the time was a rare thing in Ireland! Security had to hose us down to keep us cool! To think that was 26 years ago! Time passes but this song is timeless.

    Another time time after time
You make me feel so helpless I
I never tried to change your mind
I keep it to myself it's
Sometimes I've got to tell you
Is it this time I'll tell you
We've got to go to places
    Somewhere I don't mind it's special
And now you find as time goes by
    You're left with nothing
    Meaning much
The meaning I will have to try
To take your mind to places
I wish that I could help you
But you seem less than helpless
I always tried to tell you
Someday that it'd seem so special
Time after time what's on your mind
You make me feel so helpless I
You never tried what's on your mind
You make me feel so helpless I
    I feel so helpless I
    You're left alone with something
And I hope for you it's one thing
That something you and yours can
Hold and hold as something special
And now you find as time goes by
You're left with nothing meaning much
The meaning I will have to try
What's on your mind so helpless I
    I feel so helpless I

  • @Loqucious

@NotMichaelVoet: Bob is one of those artists that you really have to listen to over and over again to understand. He is a genius with regards to layering sounds. He uses guitar different than a normal guitar player would, he uses it more for effect and melody than rhythm. His hooks are brilliant and his vocal melodies and "harmonies" are unusual. I know this because I'm writing songs with a guitar player friend, and trying to emulate bob's style is extremely difficult, maybe impossible.
