Summer of 94. This is the one that turned me on and made me fall in love with the punk-pop of Mould. I’ve since devoured all of Husker DU’s output, FUEL, Copper Blue, Beaster, and all of Bob’s solo work up until the present day. Luckily, I live in the Twin Cities and as a “second home” for Bob he usually plays multiple shows here on every tour, and I’ve lost count if how many I’ve attended. If you dig Sugar, check out Bob’s last 15-20 years of solo work...it’s just as solid and you’ll immediately hear that sweet sound that only Bob makes.
Thanks for this! I haven’t kept up with St. Bob. I just listened to ‘sunshine rock’ and it’s pretty much the best thing I’ve ever heard. Better than the Replacements or anything!! It is amazing! First listen! Wow!
Copper Blue still stands out as one of the best albums of the early 90s. Certainly it brings lots of happy memories to this Old Jock (and that's a Scot if you're American)
Love Bob. Met him. Gone to concerts. Actually bought the hard copy of his book..if you have not read it..I recommend it...Still think his work with Sugar was the best.
This is good. It feels good despite the slight desperation, the concrete landscape behind the music and the times. I know, I was there and come on, so were you ; Those guys did it. I mean, they tried. Do I sound pedantic? It feels like it.
It's about time someone uploaded this song! For months all I have seen are songs from this group except this one, which is my favorite. Don't get me wrong, the majority of the songs on this CD were great, (only one or two I did not like), but it was this song that prompted me to get the CD. God, this song still sounds great even after all these years, just like many songs from the 80s and 90s. Thank goodness we have this because the majority of music today totally SUCKS. Thanks for posting this.
I love this song. I was a huge fan in high-school, class of 96. Nobody but me was a fan lol. Those people sucked. Shoulda threw them over the Hoover Dam.
Not an accusation of plagiarism, but I can’t help but notice that the vocal melody of this song is almost identical to “Blown a Wish” by My Bloody Valentine, and there’s even a lyric in that song that goes “Show me all your favorite things” and is sung in the same way.
its a tribute to them. the song gift of that same album is dedicated to kevin shields, listen to it and notice how much the guitar works sounds like mbv
In this song, do they get together? Because there isn't much of a transition between the verses of him longing, the bridge where he's willing to be on the bookcase along with her other favorite things, then the verse with them "together." I almost wonder if it's all in his head because there isn't much of a journey here.
I see you are new to Bob Mould fandom. Yes, they do get together, but it ends in a horrible mess that results in another great break-up song. You just start to notice a a pattern after a while. 😏
I've lived in Houston most of my life, Austin for 4 years, and spent lots of time in Dallas. TX freeways are all built with the same concrete paneling on the sides of the overpasses.
Haha yes exactly. As much as I’ve always been absolutely loving this song, I’m not so excited about the video (to put it mildly and with due respect). 😂

Late 80s and 90s was probably also at this same shows you talk about. Amazing. Husker Du concerts were very loud experiences. lol

I was riding around in Virginia and this song came on the radio. Been hooked ever since.
My favorite song for the past almost 30 years.
Great song! Bob as a genius!
The guitars sound is HUGE and such a great pop sensibility on top of pure heaviness
Awesome song. Video was shot a few blocks from where lived at the time construction on Ben White in Austin.
Hmm, so I guess Ben White is a freeway there?
File Under Awesome Listening
I still have my CD of this. Loved Sugar
Just a beautifully crafted song , uplifting , catchy guitar driven song , doesn’t get any better than this to me
Love Bob. Met him. Gone to concerts. Actually bought the hard copy of his book..if you have not read it..I recommend it...Still think his work with Sugar was the best.
still sounds genius in 2023.
Very catchy! One of my favorite Bob Mould songs.
Such a great song! I'm so glad to have it stuck in my head again.
Love how Bob is almost constantly smiling in this video---no doubt he and the gang had fun making it!
A criminally under-rated song.
Great album; start to finish is solid!!!
This and Company Book are a couple of my favorite songs ever.
Hardest, purest pop song ever.
My 90's Zen. The best. 🌺✨
Bob is honestly incapable of not writing incredibly catchy songs
Bob Mould is an legend in the Alternative Rock scene.
Takes me back....love Sugar

My favorite Song

Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too

sugaaaaaaaaaar!!!!!!!
yeah
great song!!!
A part of this song lyrics "Tell me your favorite thing" would inspired MVB's lyrics of Blown a wish.
Yeah this Sugar song was inspired by the MBV song and a deliberate nod to it. Both songs are great.
We actually heard Bob Mould in the radio with this song
One facet of the "Minnesota" sound...
😂 … 🎼 OMG YOU GUYS 🎶📣😇 … 🌈🌟 #WHEEE! 💯 … #SUPERSTARS ✨👁✨
Cheers! ✨☕️✨
Bob will always be the absolute fucking boss
Joder buena música
Has it really ben almost 30 years?
I love you, toothbrush!
Toothbrush!

I've lived in Houston most of my life, Austin for 4 years, and spent lots of time in Dallas. TX freeways are all built with the same concrete paneling on the sides of the overpasses.
Bob Mould did form Sugar in Austin, Texas, so it's close.
Sonic. SLEDGEHAMMER!
AWESOME!!!!!!
"Stuck inside my head again"
wow he gain weight in 94 , before he was medium skinny in 92 by the way i haven't seen this video ever back then i thought they broke up in 95 or 96
If there were a ranking of worst video of a spectacular song, this video would certainly win.
Haha yes exactly. As much as I’ve always been absolutely loving this song, I’m not so excited about the video (to put it mildly and with due respect). 😂
LOL
