You are not riding the 797 right, especially a new one. You wanna go fast, read up the torque specs so you change gear at or near max torque 4-5k rpm. It s a 2 valve air cooled Ducati. You wanna rev the tits off one thru the gears, try the 821 4V water cooled version. It likes rpm like your multi Jap bikes. The MT07 makes near identical bhp and torque as a 797, but as you noticed, very very diferently. Different strokes for different folks.
After first service the bike will be much smoother and ride better. Or just practice gently kicking up your gear. With practice you'll never have a problem again
So I can’t get a demo on any of the bikes I like. I am considering MT-07, MT-09, the Duc 797? Which is most fun? Is the 09 throttle still real jerky on off throttle?
The MT-09 and especially the Street Triple RS are a big step up in power. The 797 and MT-07 are kind of equal bikes and for beginners for their first big bike , though having ridden both, the MT-07 has a little more punch, though it has cheaper components. The MT-07 cross plane engine is a classic and is fantastic and I find it better in traffic. The 797 being air cooled is a bit lumpy in traffic, though for me the power is smooth and the brakes are far superior being Brembo.
Bike noob questions and complaints.. It has no fuel gauge, no gear indicator, false neutrals, what's the top speed, i want this as my first bike and is this as good as a mt07..
The same people that 'need' a dash gear indicator in an automobile are the people that gripe about a lack of gear indicator on a motorcycle...sad. A gear indicator is patently redundant tech and therefore, not necessary or required.
@@jaromor8808 : What, exactly, is your point Jaroslav? I will clarify my point: a person who understands how to shift gears manually, either in a car or a motorcycle, has absolutely no 'need' for an indicator that shows what gear they are currently in. If, however, one does not really know or understand the principles involved with operating a manual transmission due to lack of experience or ignorance, perhaps an indicator may be used as a 'crutch' until they acquire more skill/expertise in the operation of shifting gears...perhaps these same people would also appreciate a dash indicator warning when their feet are off the pegs? Hilarious.
@@ampm9771 The sound of the engine or the response of the throttle or how quickly you gain/lose speed are the vehicle's indicators that experienced riders or drivers pay attention to know if they are in the correct gear or not. When one has even a modicum of understanding of the mechanical workings of a manual transmission drive train, a 'gear indicator' on the dashboard is, in fact, an 'idiot light'. Best to learn properly from the beginning through knowledge, understanding and practice rather than taking eyes off the road to read a gear indicator.
Why calling this bike a 2020 model as it is an actual 2019 model that doesn't change from the early 797 and 797+ model ? This model will surely not change in 2020. This bike is far from being a best seller into the Ducati range....

Should not bikes be mostly about emotions? I personally don’t look the same way at an M-T07 and a Ducati even though I know they are supposed to be money pits (is it also still true?)
hey man, you're in my area! completely unrelated, but you should check out a place called Fire pizza - ask them for the honeybadger :) there's place in downtown spo and by the lake in CDA.
First, you are riding this bike like a Japanese bike which, does not work , second ,if you want to test a bike ,dont do it on straight roads, take it on the twisties and you will know what a monster is all about . A Ducati likes to be ridden at high revs , and when you slow it down you go down the gears ... what is it with Americans and having to know what gear you are in ? ... the sound of the engine will tell you weather you should be up or down a gear . The fuel gauge has always been lacking for some unknown reason , most Ducati riders put the odometer back to zero when we fill it and refill at 200 km .

That “reliability” issue is a myth due to the 2006 models and older having a shorter recommended cycle for valve inspections and timing belt changes. Hi i just got the 797, i found it so difficult to get into Neutral while the engine is running. Does everyone has the same problem?
Contact your dealer. Neutral will be easy to find after the 1000km service...
After first service the bike will be much smoother and ride better. Or just practice gently kicking up your gear. With practice you'll never have a problem again
no turning radius because you were not looking over your left shoulder
No fuel gauge, right?
Great review!👊
Is this better than a Triumph Street triple or KTM Duke 790? Price says it’s a better value.
Cliff Louie nah, go with the street triple I’d say
Monster 797 is 73hp. ST is 123hp. Duke 105hp. Price reflects less power, still a beautiful bike though
So I can’t get a demo on any of the bikes I like. I am considering MT-07, MT-09, the Duc 797? Which is most fun? Is the 09 throttle still real jerky on off throttle?
dry509 Triumph Street Triple RS, you will be amazed. ( the throttle on the FZ09 👎🏼)
@@richardcollins586 Thank you.
@@richardcollins586 Thanks. Not riding in traffic, just neighborhood which is usually empty and country roads near my home.

Bike noob questions and complaints..
It has no fuel gauge, no gear indicator, false neutrals, what's the top speed, i want this as my first bike and is this as good as a mt07..
What is the top speed?
Who needs gear indicator?? Just feel it
The same people that 'need' a dash gear indicator in an automobile are the people that gripe about a lack of gear indicator on a motorcycle...sad.
A gear indicator is patently redundant tech and therefore, not necessary or required.
@@elmoomle4565 Sounds stupid, is wrong.
Hilarious.
@@elmoomle4565 I never heard anyone wanting gear indicator on cars. I sometimes forget what gear I'm in so yeah, gear indicator is a plus.
Gorgeous.
Love your enthusiasm.
Have the bike too and i love it.👌
Why calling this bike a 2020 model as it is an actual 2019 model that doesn't change from the early 797 and 797+ model ? This model will surely not change in 2020. This bike is far from being a best seller into the Ducati range....
MrToonfish The 821 is just a better motorcycle for not a lot more so it is a hard sale.
@@redsolocup7854 I know that... Riding Ducati and passionate about the brand for 30 years. See on my own channel, the beauty of it all... Monster 1100 EVO ;-)

If you don’t know what gear your in should you really have your license????
In my opinion, new bikes should all come with a gear indicator standard. This bike for how expensive it is, is lacking in many departments. It needs an update.
check out the CB650R from Honda. 95hp
its also a 4 cylinder lol
M-07 perfect balance: Quality, Reliability, Looks and Price.... Ducatis are money-pits.
Luis Alcantara S I’ll agree with that
If Ducaties are money pits then i sugest not to own a KTM.
Matej C are they (KTM), really? I was planning on getting a KTM as a 2nd bike.
I feel like you can't mark 8000 euros for a 70 hp bike. There are so many other cheaper options...
Should not bikes be mostly about emotions? I personally don’t look the same way at an M-T07 and a Ducati even though I know they are supposed to be money pits (is it also still true?)

@@ShakeNBlake509 so u are gonna get one 😏
First, you are riding this bike like a Japanese bike which, does not work , second ,if you want to test a bike ,dont do it on straight roads, take it on the twisties and you will know what a monster is all about . A Ducati likes to be ridden at high revs , and when you slow it down you go down the gears ... what is it with Americans and having to know what gear you are in ? ... the sound of the engine will tell you weather you should be up or down a gear . The fuel gauge has always been lacking for some unknown reason , most Ducati riders put the odometer back to zero when we fill it and refill at 200 km .
9300 dollar ?
Mt07 killer for 3000€ more XD
MT07 have no character.... the ducati have all the right curves
Ducati bikes were hot in the early 2000s
I keep a monster in my collection
Ducatis aren't godly bikes
But they are just cool
2020 and this display? Ridiculous. But nice design, and a astonishing price in the us, her in europe it will be serious more.
Deeman so an italian bike is cheaper in us then in europe:)? I think you miss the tax part...
@@BalazsNyitray well i just heard the price in the vid. I don´t know which additional fees and prices come on top in america. Here it is selling after the price on the market- and thats it.The monster here in germany is seriously about 14 up to 16 k. new.
But it could be, that they are cheaper to come into the us-market. The hardest part is the service and the support at branches (?)- Händler. Thats why mv agusta had such big problems.
Deeman the us prices never include taxes, because that changes from state to state. I highly doubt that any ducati would be pricier in germany before taxes.
It can be that you have high taxes there - fear not, here in hungary the sales taxes are one of the highest in the world:)
Wait so its a 10k bike...(3 more than fz07) and STILL NO FUEL/GEAR INDICATORS?! lolololololololol
bit more research pre-ride would benefit your channel. you hadn't a clue getting on the bike.

I don't see one for $8,000.
Always wanted a Duck, especially a Monster, but dang, those things are always at the top of the most unreliable motorcycles list.
Had a Ducati, it was flawless, don’t believe people who say the new ones aren’t reliable. As reliable as any other bike on the market.
That “reliability” issue is a myth due to the 2006 models and older having a shorter recommended cycle for valve inspections and timing belt changes. Especially over the past 10yrs or so those intervals have been stretched to match their competitors. I personally have a 2005 Monster 620, and it’s been rock solid.
@@AT2Productions So the youtube videos showing electronic problems with brand new Ducati's are all fake...OK
@@Agwings1960 That's a lovely leap you took there. Did I say that there were zero problems at all? Tell me, where was that said?
What you failed to comprehend is that the metrics used to try to knock Ducati's reliability is due to time at the mechanic. Tell me, on average how many Ducati owners do their own maintenance beyond chain cleaning? Oh, wait, you actually don't give a shit about what I've already said. You're just hating on a brand because of your own perception.
@@AT2Productions You're the one making some assumptions my friend. Ive been an avid motorcyclist since the late 60's, and Ducati makes some of the best looking motorcycles in the world, always wanted one, but they are usually high on the list of unreliable machines. The current number one is Can Am, according to what Ive seen. Im not hating on anything, just stating what Ive read on the motorcycle forums and consumer reports.
