This is brilliant! Love the explanation.
I have a similar mixing technique to Simone, yet was told by a "big singing coach" that it was wrong. I've always sung in that "classical/Disney" (for lack of better description!) and was told I was doing it all wrong and thought I was a horrid singer... Till I discovered Epica! And I was like well holy crap I sound like her and couldn't believe it! Boosted my confidence hugely, and to hear it broken down as to what it is that's being done is super super helpful as it makes me (just an amateur!) understand my own voice! Thanks!

As someone who’s seen this wonderful lady live 4 times, I can confirm that Simone has definitely gotten better with time. Last saw Epica in 2017. Even got to meet her a couple times!
A lot of people have opinions on who’s the better singer, but to me, that’s all a matter of opinion. Each person has a preference. And each vocalist is unique, so it’s unfair to say one is better/comparable to the other.
You’ve earned a sub from me! I very briefly took vocal lessons in 2010, but after a while it droned on because we weren’t getting anywhere and I wasn’t learning anything. Looking forward to going through more of your videos!

Really good stuff, I'm glad to hear analysis from an expert about my favorite vocalist of all time. Since I discovered this band over a decade ago, I've been fascinated with Simone's capabilities and how she naturally glides between styles, all while maintaining her unique gorgeous tone. But most of my friends don't seem to share my fascination, so it's really great to hear you talk about this in detail.
If you haven't heard them yet, check out songs like The Essence of Silence (?v=oePrtEMmX9Y) or Tides of Time (?v=eALDD5XaQuw) or In All Conscience (?v=09e0jIYT5e4), or their best live performance of Design Your Universe (?v=hib0Gle35YE) ... could go on but I'll stop there lol. Such pieces sound absurdly difficult to sing like she does, and really show off the maximum extents of her abilities IMO. It would be awesome to hear you talk about any of those.

What would you say for male high voices? Belt + mix + classical on top still applies? Usually I feel like belting and mixing are great but when it comes to classical it's lackluster on volume for males up there and it's more rock'n roll to scream it out (Like E5 and above). I usually mix until around D5 but if I go into falsetto higher it's just not the sound I'm looking for so I scream it out.

In the course of the song I get sick of the voice - maybe because the band is busting Simone, not to mention that the orchestra kind of disappears. In the case of Floor, it is clear the change of technique and it is as if two vocalists were heard. ___________________________ English errors are the fault of google translate.

It’s a redundant statement but a lot of Americans are terrible at geography and don’t know the difference between Dutch and Danish and I wanted to be extra clear since the majority of my viewers are American.

I know you did a comparison of the Nightwish singers a while back, but I would love to hear your in depth reaction to and analysis of Floor Jansen singing "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/видео.html
That is one of her all time great performances and definitely worthy of your attention.
