Beautiful wreath and color! I must get more sedum. . .Yes, to All Saints' Day over Halloween. I made a wreath from honeysuckle and curly willow last weekend and now I'll be adding dried hydrangeas. Lots of collected, dried goodies to play with at this time of year - and the weather is wonderful! Happy creating/crafting/ gardening!
I loved this and had a go. Mine is a bit strange but I like it. I used tangled Jasmine for the hoop and added hydrangeas and rosemary. Nothing was dried but I’m hoping it will dry out in my sunny porch (and I needed hidden strings on hooks to stop it drooping). Thank you for the inspiration !
I so enjoy all your episodes. You are very creative and energetic. You inspire me to want to do the same thing. Living in the USA brings us miles apart but yet I feel connected to you and your ideas.
I created three small arrangements from plants in my garden to honour All Saints Day. They sit in small Devon Cream pots in a very beautiful Italian container. Thanks for the prompt!
I abhor Halloween in all it's guises. There is enough death & darkness in this world, without celebrating it. I love the idea of celebrating All Saints Day instead or even a Harvest Festival type thing. Yes, we should take this time in autumn to give thanks for the bounty the summer has provided us with...like sedum:). Thank you Georgie for giving me that idea, have lots of sedum, but have never put it in bouquets or ever cut it (leave it for the bugs), but will consider making a wreath--what a grand idea!!
Hi Georgie, I have never disagreed with you thus far, but today is the day. Personally I can’t have burgundy as a single colour, I need to add two complimentary colours to it. Orange and sunshine yellow, white and dark green, or scarlet and bright green for instance. I wouldn’t be able to live with that wreath unless I hung it on a door or wall that was coloured in complimentary colouration.❤
I have to get that sedum. I had no idea it would look so good dried. Do you have bittersweet? Found a bunch in an abandoned lot. Somewhat fragile but oh so beautiful dried.
glad you like the sedum - I avoid bittersweet like the plague because as a child my mother was so afraid of it I still think I'm likely to die on the spot if I touch it xxx #poison #deadlynightshade x
Shouldn't we all have a "Drying Department"?! It's true that burgundy/aubergine/wine is in a bunch of paint manufacturers' Colour of the Year palettes.
My mum's ga4den is full of this sedum, we use it in the green and pink and now this! Can i ask how long the sedum you used had been drying before you used it. Would look fabulous in christmas wreaths with gold.
you might be thinking of the achillea cloth of gold Jo which does dry beautifully and would look v striking with the sedum x I lost mine last winter to the wet #swampysomerset
Love the sedum color. Were they that color to begin with or did they just get really darker as they aged? I have some, but they don’t dry that dark and lovely. Hops are my thing in autumn. They really produce and look great everywhere and smell good too. Be careful where you plant them though, as they can take over. 😊
sedum gets darker as it ages - the skill is to harvest at that sweet spot before it gets blackened by rain and weather x I always think hops not great for Somerset but recently have been spotting them in hedgerows and think it's time I invest x
mine came nameless as just two or three small plants from a village plant sale many years ago and I don't regret it - easy to propagate, great to dry, useful for winter floristry x
Yes! All Saints Day over Halloween every time. What a gorgeous simple yet luxurious looking wreath.
Agreed on all accounts. TeresaSue
glad you like it x
thank you TeresaSue x

Isn’t it amazing how we all just feel the love automatically from the trend forecasters to gardeners like me x

I believe there is a sedum called cloth of gold. Imagine the 2 together.. I could be wrong, I'll wait for Georgie to confirm.
I'd had this sedum drying for I think ten days before I made this - it'll carry on drying in the wreath x

@theflowerfarmer that's the bunny! But yup, great colour combo. I'm glad I checked with you, thank G

Colour trends are established by the Colour Marketing Board
it's funny though how without realising it I'm always suddenly longing for the on trend colour no matter who establishes it or when x
Definitely All Saints day and not hallow's eve
