- Legendary media commentator Nigel Pauley joins Kevin O'Sullivan on TalkTV to discuss the latest dramatic developments in the Phillip Schofield scandal which has rocked ITV to the core.
Nigel says that he thinks Schofield has been misguided in how he has behaved and handled the fall out from all this drama.
He goes on to say that Schofield not only appears to be "broken" in his first interview following the emergence of this scandal, but Nigel thinks that the disgraced former 'This Morning' presenter is now "playing the victim."
Phillip Schofield has said he will comply with an external review commissioned by ITV into the facts surrounding his controversial affair with a former This Morning colleague.
The 61-year-old ex-presenter resigned from the broadcaster last week and was dropped by his talent agency, YMU, after admitting having an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague.

I think , no matter what you think of him, he’s still a human, he made a human mistake and isn’t doing well as a result.
We don’t know everything yet, we likely never will but don’t actually need too.
For reference, I know individuals who have done similar, who have done worst; including r*pe by senior individuals.
These influential figures are doing just fine because the public aren’t aware of it. It’s been buried. And sadly incidents like these are far more common than you’d like to believe.

For a naturally empathetic person this interview will pull at your heartstrings but, we have to stand up. I would not be commenting and such if I didn’t suspect that he has been doing this for years. The interviews for the sun and bbc were scripted by ITV. Hes not an actor so you could see where he broke away from the script and showed he isnt really remorseful and is just a manipulative controlling narcisstic: he said affairs at work are common, age gaps are normal, we are homophobes, and did the classic personality disorder move of threatening suicide so he appears as the high risk victim. I feel sorry for the young man, still being totally controlled by schofield who will no doubt send him an expensive legal fee if the kid dares attempt to speak

As child abuse owes much more to power imbalance and easy prey - predators single out the vulnerable - wherever there are people with power over many others, its a sure thing such abuse will co-exist.
That Schofield took advantage of and exploited someone far less powerful than himself, should be the most important point. Introducing legal dividing lines on age grounds - exploiting a 15 yr old is criminal child abuse; exploiting a 19yr old merely open to question - misses the main point.
