      @@defendervirgo3296BRO KFP3 had Po meet his DAD. His dad was confronted about his fear of losing Po again, mr ping learned to trust his son more than before and accept his blood family, Po was confronted with his desire to work alone, and learned to be more of a team leader that inspires. Po also completed his character arc of fully becoming the dragon warrior when Oogway told him why he was chosen, the third movie ties everything together beautifully. The movie starts with him being an awkward teacher, and ends with him teaching an entire generation of pandas kung fu. The third movie is just as mature as the second and also its awesome.

      @@mack-attack-420 No, it wasn't. Whatever nuance of maturity there was in the third movie was immediately destroyed every time the slapstick humour needed to be forcibly inserted into the screenplay. On paper, yes, the third installment sounded acceptable, but in practice and what we got, it's just a disaster that led to the fourth movie being the way it is.

    1. Inject an unlikeable, anoying character into an existing franchise
    2. Have said character work alongside the popular main character
    3. Humiliate or ignore existing characters
    4. Have said character somehow be better then the main character and/or taking the spotlight at some point
    5. Have said character replace the old main character in some way or form
    We had SO many movies try this formula in the recent years and it NEVER worked. Adding to that the "animation is for kids!" trope, despite many of the most popular animation movies/cartoons be for young and old; which is especially weird after Puss in Boots 2 had multiple adult themes....

Genuinely the reason I aimed for a night showing as opposed to one during the day time so that I could avoid as many children being in the theatre as possible, but as you can imagine that did not help much if at all... then again it is a kid's movie so it understandably makes sense why children would be present, but for a fourth installment to a franchise that had been well renowned for the weight of its messages and overall development, it's very sad :[

    I think what's most interesting about this film was that my kids were not interested, at all. They were swaying their feet and messing with the popcorn bucket to try to entertain themselves, I almost decided to leave but I spent 50 freaking dollars for 3 tickets, one popcorn, and two drinks, so we were watching the whole thing. They also had nothing nice to say about it when we left, didn't excitedly talk about it or anything, and when I asked what their favorite scene was, they just said "i don't know". And before anyone says anything, know my kids love the first three movies. We actually rewatched Kung Fu Panda 3 when we got home and the boy wants to watch them backwards, so the 2nd film is next. So all and all, Fung Fu Panda 4 decided to not take any risks "for the kids", and still didn't manage to entertain their target demographic. Womp womp

    I can understand Tai Lung’s return. We haven’t seen him since 2008 and was the only villain who could realistically have a change of heart. But Shen and Kai bowing in respect to Po is so out of character and went against the endings both characters got. Add on top of that the fact that neither get a single voice line when Gary Oldman and J K Simmon’s performances were some of the best parts of the characters. Their return felt disingenuous, pointless, and unnecessary so much so that I would’ve preferred them not be there at all. If you’re going to bring legacy characters back, bring them back in their full glory, not like this.

    • @goatmeal5806
      @goatmeal5806  3 месяца назад +3

      Yes, absolutely! I think Tai Lung having a redemption arc is fine, but with the added context of the production hell behind the scenes, it's very lackluster when knowing what we could have gotten. According to Stephanie Stein, she and many of the writers did try to push for Shifu to have a bigger role, and one that would allow him to see Tai Lung one last time. I do genuinely think this movie had a lot of interesting concepts, but the way they were handled by the director made any amount of depth this movie could have had just feel incredibly weak..

      @@goatmeal5806 Shifu has gone criminally underused with each subsequent film, bringing back Tai Lung would’ve been the one time he could’ve been as prominent as he was in KFP 1. This movie is just so difficult to enjoy knowing it could’ve been so much more if they gave the directing job to someone who actually cared about these films, many of the writers and animators probably grew up with the franchise.

    The soundtrack in animation was great as usual, but I hate the script. I felt like they regress post characters and I even hated a movie even more after I read the Thread interviewing the co-Director of this movie and it really sucks that the animators fought for involvement of Lord Shen and Kai just saw the Director could go nowhere with them and I felt like Zhen becoming Dragon Warrior was so undeserved matter-of-fact what I really hated the most is why was Master shifu trying to tell him to take the next step of being spiritual leader. If they were going to go with that plot line, I felt like it should’ve been Po that made a decision on his own, not from Master shifu because in the beginning of one and two shifu tells him what his next step should be. Oh I don’t know if you know this we were robbed and I mean, extremely robbed big time since they brought back tai lung They were supposed to be an emotional final goodbye between tai lung and master shifu but like you said in the video, the Director did not want an emotional movie. He wanted to be more comedic. I want to throw my little nitpick, the chameleons army known as the Komodo dragon army not remotely look like anything like Komodo dragons which I hate it for I even watched someone else’s video and they mistaken them for iguana because I know kung fu panda designs, anthropomorphic animals characters very well but this, for some reason take me off because if you look up kung fu panda dragon knight and look up the the forbidden company you can see their design is much more on point with how a Komodo dragon looks like and this is not even a good kung fu panda series anyhow. My expectations were a little too high because there was something I wanted from this movie. I wanted po father li Shan to fight, Lord shen fight the emotional weight to it because this is the same peacock. He is fighting that took away a lot of things from him his family, his friends, his wife made him miss 20 years with his son. That was the one thing I wanted from this movie and it failed to deliver that before a very informative review on what you liked and what you didn’t About this motion picture departure I’m gonna leave you with this. I absolutely agree with all the points you've made here! I happened to read articles covering the interviews after finalizing this video, specifically the one with the co-director Stephanie Stein, and I was incredibly disappointed by how much pushback she got when working with Mike Mitchell. I also had a lot of expectations for this movie considering how much depth the original trilogy had, so you're not alone there... totally resented a majority of the comedy in this film. Also really?? Komodo Dragons? Really wish they played with that concept more; could've been super interesting!
      I will say I didn't mention any of Li and Ping's moments since I didn't hate when they were on screen and they shared a pretty decent dynamic, my only gripe being maybe one or two lines from them.

And even then, I was pretty hesitant to get excited just because having a fourth film in a franchise that had a good ending with its third movie seems unnecessary. The villain really *could* have worked in concept. Really lean in to her toxic fangirl tendencies, make her backstory that she was either too sickly or lazy to learn kung fu the traditional way, and give her more time to interact with Po (cutting the Journey of Dads would be a good start to allow for that), and she could have been a decent foil for Po.

    i dont rlly think that its a bad movie, cuz its ok on its own...but its def not a great kung fu panda movie
    not only in the writing, but even in its visuals
    they dont play around nearly as much with color theory or interesting angles/composition
    but instead kinda coming across as "safe" with the most ambitious visuals being a few paint streaks here or there, which is kinda sad imo compared to what the previous 3 offered
    doesnt help with how newer characters' designs feel like they belong in a diff movie (except for the chameleon and maybe zhen)
    iiik im ragging on it too much since it doesnt rlly suck, but after binging the previous 3 films and then seeing this one, the visuals are pretty jarring ngl
    nothing sticks out visually here outside of the chameleon's transformations and maybe *some* nice colors

    I pretty much thought this movie was the worst ouf ot all 4 by far worse than 1 and 2.
    What i didnt like about the movie was:
    1. why is there the need to add a new character when you already have established amazing characters that just straight up work. At the same time out of all characters why has the most unlikable one of them have to become the dragon warrior? It was so blatantly obvious from the start that she would become the new dragon warrior, which litteraly add 0 excitement to the stroy, since you literally dont know her, dont like her, and you dont get to know her during the movie, aside from the fact that for like 2/3 of the movie she actually is a ''bad guy'' and then just has a change of heart and then its like you now should become the dragong warrior wo hooo. Imagine the furious five hearing about how they all got skiped just because a fox was good for 5 minutes.
    2. the whole story is super predictable and the villan is by faaaaaaaarrrr the worst one from the whole series and is pretty much what we see modern holywood like to do with villans. Tell dont show. We always get told she is realy bad, everyone in this city fears her, shes so crazy. Yet as mentioned the only real bad thing is she pushes a guy down the stairs and is ok with them plotting to get rid of her? like what vilan is that???? The old villans were badass this one is just ass.
    3. in general the new characters, everything about what works in the movie are the old characters we know from 1-3, and what doesnt work all has to do with the new added stuff. Do you remember the scene where the fox ( i already forgot her name) hugs po? and how did that make you feel? I dont know about you but i felt 0. Remember when Tigress hugged Po ? This had so much meaning behind it and i literaly felt happy for those two. How did you feel when the fox betrays po? I felt 0, since it was so predictable that the cameleon would be her ''mother'' and thus something like this was destined to happen.
    4. the plot, why does po need to get to this new city? the fox literally just could have taken po to some random location, never mention the city, and just come up with a different location where the camelon should be, just to steal the staff during po's sleep, and then bring the staff to cameleon. Po was literally the only thing that could stop her from her evil plan at the same time he was needed 0 to actually fullfill the plan, why bring that to your city just to risk all of it, especially since he was such and easy traget? By the time po would have found out where she actually was she could have mastered all the abilities, and built an army to actually take over china?
    5. there is no real deep emotion, nothing dark, nothing interesting. The previous movies delt with overcoming trauma, finding inner peace after bad things happen to you. Becoming something just through pure dedication and willpower, achieving your dreams, and working hard for them... and whats the point about this movie?
    6. there is nothing at stake for 70% of the movie and any urgency is completly missing, the bad guy does nothing bad because she need pos staff, but she doesnt get that until super late in the movie. Because she never actually does any bad things, you never fear for po, and there is no imminent danger as in part 1 there was this need to become the dragon warrior in order to stop thai lung who is aproaching rapidly thus adding urgency. Same goes for part 2 where they literally have cannons and have killed one of the best alive kung fu masters and if they dont stop him all of china will fall thus adding urgency. This was completely missing in the 4th adaptation as for the whole movie i doubted that the cameleon would be capable of anything since we see NOTHING!
    What i would have liked to see:
    1. the furious five, who would have guessed right
    2. Tigress becoming the future dragon warrior would have been a huge w for me. What would be if the universe let master ooguay chose po because tigress was not ready at that point and a different dragon warrior was needed for that time. Thus explaning why Po dropped before her in the first movie signaling in a way that both of them were destined to become dragon warriors just at different times. But since Tigress has grown so much from the 1st movie to the 3rd, and a good development in the 4th she would now indirectly step up to the role she had trained for her whole life (but maybe not actually becoming the dragon warrior until the last movie of the new trilogy?) thus going full circle to the first movie with po ''teaching'' her as they grow further together same as po and shivu.
    3. Redemption of Thai Lung, i always had somewhat of a soft spot for him, as in the first movie you actually see some glimpses of uncertanty if his way of handling things is correct. Having him in this movie would have been so good when they could have come up with something making him redeem himself and coming to terms with shivu. ( which could transport that even tho you have chosen a way that is not good you still have the chance to actually turn around and become a better version of yourself? )
    4. Having a story that is more ''mature'' similar to part 2, being open to add dark elements to push the narrative and development, with urgency where things are at stake.

    I swear *Stephanie Ma Stine* could have mad an incredible Kung-fu Panda film but *_Mike Mitchell_* kept making brain dead decisions like adding HUMAN BEINGS into the series (even though it didn't wind up in the film) that's why they lost *Nicolas Marlet* who was character designer for the last Three Films

    What if the 5th movie was made as a sort of Kung Fu Panda 4.5 and instead of Po, you got just the furious 5 and their roles during the events of that movie. a sort of what was going on with them.

    The charm is still there the issue everyone just has to demand that each movie out does the last no one can just let something be fun it has to be outstanding better then the last thing they saw or it’s trash I would love to see what kind of movie the people who keep dumping on KP4 would make let’s see which is better a movie made by a popular studio with hard working & experienced crew or some rondo online who uses the “back in my day things were better” bit

    The Dragon Warrior title should be given to someone pure and Zhen isn't that, she's a thief and also they're doing a clear woke thing, she's a female so her doing wrong doesnt matter & she's fine to be selected. There's much more issues I have but I'm keeping to that.

    • @fem1n1new3nd1go
      @fem1n1new3nd1go 3 месяца назад +3

      I don't care about the next Dragon Warrior being a female, however, she has proven to the audience that she CANNOT be trusted. First is obviously being a thief, and the second is her betraying Po. She DOES NOT get a proper redemption arc, she just apologizes and Po forgives her.
      I would've liked it better if Tai Lung had a redemption arc and proved to Po that he can be trusted to be the next Dragon Warrior. Maybe also have Zhen whom Po took under his wing so he could train her, and Tai Lung comes around to warn Po about The Chameleon. The three of them set off, and it's revealed that Zhen was working for the Chameleon and tries to take Po's chi.

      @@fem1n1new3nd1goI agree with all but Tai Lung becoming the dragon warrior. I don’t know. Redemption yes, but his time ended. And Zhen is a thief, but people can change. But like you said, they haven’t handled that very good between her and Po..

    • @DenisFilippenkov
      @DenisFilippenkov 3 месяца назад

      If Zhen was a male character in this film, the problem would still be in the writing. Stop going after this fake boogeyman of "wokeness" that yall created and learn to construct actual critiques.

    • @fem1n1new3nd1go
      @fem1n1new3nd1go 3 месяца назад

      @@DenisFilippenkov Nobody cares that Zhen is a girl who gets the be the Dragon Warrior. We care because Zhen doesn't deserve the title because she betrayed Po and didn't even get a proper redemption arc. She has never proven herself trustworthy for it.
      The term "woke" was created by progressives so they can say that they adapted to the modern times, BTW. Basically just to kiss the butt of braindead Twitter users.
