I hated making this video. This was supposed to be an ending explained video, but by the time I was through writing it, I realized it was more of an overview of my thoughts of the movie. I could call it a movie review formally in the title, but I don't know. I just wanted to get some of these thoughts out concisely before I start breaking down all of the subjects I brought up in this video one by one. I didn't even dive into the Staff of Wisdom or all of my thoughts on Tai Lung's relationship with Po! This year though I'm trying to be more honest, upfront, and transparent with my thoughts on the subject matter I'm discussing, and this is unfortunately an example of that. But just because Kung Fu Panda 4 disappointed me, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. I want you to be able to have fun with things! I don't want to add to the noise and be a megaphone for hate. I desperately wanted to love Kung Fu Panda 4! I just couldn't hold back that truth about how I felt. Let me know what you thought of the video! I'm always open to constructive feedback! Of course, thanks for watching, and I hope you have a magical day! 🐼
I saw it just two days ago and personally thought it was ok and dreamworks should do better with the next two KFP films heck to be honest they should fire the director of this film and get the other director who did the other three films since they know what they were doing with the franchise.
This movie was great. Zhen and chameleon are the best parts of the movie. I can somewhat understand your opinion, but this movie wasn’t really supposed to be that big. It’s the first movie in a new trilogy. The first movie in a trilogy is never that big, it sets up a bigger picture for the future.
Get over your self the movies.fine stop acting.like.this.wad.some big.injustice it wasn't meamt.to.be the nest of.the.series.or.to out.shine.tje.rest.it.was.meant.to.move a.six.part.story forward and.it did just wait for.the rest.of the story to be told before acting so hurt
Honestly, I think the Chameleon pushing someone down the stairs was a good idea, the execution of it was terrible. What would’ve been better would have been the Chameleon grabbing someone and then throwing them down the stairs. It would’ve made her look more threatening.
Man, I’m really disappointed that tigress wasn’t appointed as the dragon warrior. She had more experience than Po and had a much deeper connection than that random fox thief.
I think picking tigress or the rando for thief isn't the main issue. At the end, it is that unpredictability which I love that they follow from Oogway and Po. Tigress, despite not having the dragon warrior title can still make her name. And she can prove herself like shifu did. So even if Po doesn't appoint her, it wouldn't be a big thing. (Of cuz if he picked her, I would be happy too) Dragon warrior, I think it is based on being in line with the universe or have that experience like no other understanding people and to the experience of universe. So picking that fox wasn't a big deal. However, the way it took oogway 100 yrs? 1000 yrs? to pick a dragon warrior but suddenly shifu just throw him a choosing ceremony? I felt like it would have been better if they had build on connection as you say and that when po knew, he wanted to choose a new dragon warrior. Like how oogway did it naturally. Not him just picking a dragon warrior just like that
Which is why she would never be Po's successor, you pass legacy to the younger generation, not the older one, connection is also kinda irrelevant, just like how it was irrelevant when Oogway chose Po above anyone in the 5
The Chameleon felt like one member of a quirky villain group. Shapeshifting powers, cool design, and a random single sentence backstory. I could see her losing to one of the Furious Five while Po and the others climatically defeat their own opponents.
I never expected Dreamworks to ever change in a “new direction”. Because the company was always hit or miss for their movies quality. I find it annoying when people just say “Dreamworks is going in a new direction”. “Their movies will be better from now on”. And they always say that for very recently good movies. Not even waiting if it’ll be consistent. Or even looking at their history. But hey, I bet The Wild Robot will be Dreamworks better movie for 2024. The trailer’s already one of the best I’ve ever seen. Just hope that applies to the film too. But people must understand an entire company isn’t responsible for the whole quality of a film. There’s several people separated into different crews for different movies. That’s why not all of them are going to be so consistent. Especially in a company we’re half are good at their job, and the other half aren’t.
chameleon should have acted like an actual chameleon causing doubt and impersonating as po’s friends and family making po unsure of who he can trust or not or pretending to be po and destroy his reputation. I also wanted shifu to see “tai lung” and shifu getting mad when he realises that someone stole tai lung kung fu or impersonating him not to mention kai and shen had no voice lines i also wanted shen to see po’s father and i kinda wanted to see the thundering rhino again the one who got killed by shen
I´ve got a counter-proposal. Ditch Zhen. Instead, make the Chamaleon someone who wants to learn Kung Fu just like Po in KFP1, Po decides to take her in and she proves an unmatched prodigy, Po is very happy and enthusiastic to the point of being blinded by his pride for her and her abilities, this starts to drive a wedge between the Furious Five who warn him of the danger along with Shifu as things continue to deteriorate. Po finally heeds the warning of Shifu but by then it is too late, the Chamaleon won´t listen to her master and her lust for knowledge is ever growing. Now the furious five and even Shifu are outmatched. Only Po can stop her now... roll credits, congratulations you´ve set another sequel up. The beauty of this setup is how it mirrors Shifu and Tai Lung, but while overbearing expectations and harshness forged Tai Lung the villain. Po´s easy going attitude and carelessness let a candle grow into a house fire. There´s just so much you can do, instead of going big generic evil villain tries to conquer the world. Like we had with Kai or what we´ve got here. Man, what a waste.
@@pablolonniepachecomaldonad9184Po selecting the wrong person sounds a bit dubious to me. He is not as wise as Oogway of course, but the dragon warrior is still the dragon warrior isn't he?
I am so disappointed that they brought back Lord Shen and he does not speak. I mean there was so much potential. Heck, they had a whole subplot of Po’s panda dad learning to be brave, what is braver than facing the peacock who attacked your village, was responsible for killing your friends, family and wife and the reason you were separated from your son for years. An interaction between them would have been golden.
The worst part is that even PO doesn’t even acknowledge him. The guy murdered his clan, his mom for crying out loud . At the end of the film shen even bows to Po. What? Why? Why would shen the person who was never redeemed bow to po? It’s like h!tler going to a United Nations conference and everyone acts nonchalantly
I have millions of questions from this movie, the biggest one being , how in the world, the evilest of evil Villains, shen and kai bowed to po and happily went back to spirit realm?? Whats in the spirit realm, a strip club or something?
Yep. That was the most Out-of-character moment in this movie so far. I didn't buy that at all. Not even fanfics would came up to that idea that Shen and Kai would bow to Po like that and that they happily accept that their place is in the spirit realm now. It's to absurd.
Kai didn’t really have a personal beef with po and more with beef with oogway so I could sorta understand he made peace with po. Plus po at least remember who Kai was and Kai just wanted his chi Shen on the other hand is a total panda racism so bowing to po feels so out of place It would be better tho if po freed tai lung, Shen, and Kai, put aside their differences (and panda racism), and stop the chameleon together (who wasn’t really all that powerful tho)
@@Armor23OnPatrol Remember what Kai said though: "It took me 500 hundred years to get Oogway’s chi, I’ll take yours even if it takes me another 500 years!" (Roughly something like that) It very much seems like Kai would not accept his fate
I think her backstory should have involved her being a sorcerer. Maybe shes trying to steal the skills of kung fu masters with her magic to prove the dominance of magic or something
It's really idiotic that her main reason for stealing the masters Kung Fu and being a villain is for "being small",when we have literally Mantis over here, who is a freaking insect and knows Kung Fu. It would have been better if her background had been that she came out of a family of sorcerers, who didn't want to do anything with it. She was learning Kung Fu, but she wasn't good at it. Her teacher told her that if they didn't see any kind of improvement, then sadly they would stop teaching her, then one day while she was trying to save one of the top students from a accident, she accidentally took their Kung Fu,and when she realized that she could now fight like them after absorbing their Kung Fu,she started to "borrow" the rest of the students Kung Fu in secret and her teacher saw how fast she had improved,to fast, for someone who has always struggled learning basic steps, she was top in the class until she was caught stealing another student's KungFu,she was banned to ever do Kung Fu ever again, and enraged for the "injustice" she swore that she will steal the Kung Fu of every Master's in existence possess and be the greatest Kung Fu Master alive. Or something like that, her reason for being a villain because "she is small" just doesn't work in the KFP universe. It just doesn't.
Honestly, I would have written Chamelon like this. A sorcerer, who tried to learn Kung Fu, but never saw improvement. She was always told her Kung Fu was flawed and bad. Then, she took the easy way. She copied the stronger students, the way she copies the villains. The difference being, she would add just 1 more thing. One more thing to be superior to their Kung Fu and surpass it. As of that, she began thinking that Kung Fu was trash. She could easily just copy anyone and add a little touch to it, and voila, she was better than them. This however, is not what Kung Fu is in Kung fu panda. Kung Fu is about originality, that's litterally what the 1st and 3rd movie was about. The 1st taught us that Po had his own style (well everyone in the furious 5 did), he had to be trained differently. 3rd movie, he himself comes to that conclusion, and the Pandas all learn Kung Fu, but in a way that utilitzes their talents, like the dancer using nunchucks, the kids learning how to use fireworks as soccer balls, or the hug guy basicly being a grappler. All were taught a style they could best utilize. The Chameleon has no original style, which goes against the very concept of Kung Fu in this series. That's way better than "I was called too smol, oh boy, sad wittle me" when MANTIS exists
First thing Tai Lung did on screen was break out of prison and kill all the guards. Lord Shen, commits panda genocide. General Kai, takes Oogway's chi. First thing the Chameleon does: Pushes someone down a bunch of stairs. And they survive. And Shifu already did that to Po in yhe first one. At that to her morals making no sense when you remember Mantis exists and you have the weakest KFP villain yet.

Tai Lung: Kills a thousand people just to escape prison, and beats the Furious Five and Shifu with ease. Lord Shen: Commits panda genocide, takes over Gongman City with his wolf army, and also beats the Furious Five. Kai: Steals people’s chi, turning them into obedient zombified minions, and beats most of the Furious Five (save for Tigress), Shifu, and even Oogway! Chameleon: Pushes people down the stairs and does literally nothing for most of the movie. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Is because the chameleon literally had nothing Tai lung already has his kung fu Lord shen already has his cannon Kai already has his power of chi The chamaleon had nothing special until she has the staft of oogway and steal all kung fu master including tai lung ,lord shen and kai Combination of kung fu and sorcery is what make The Chameleon look like villian
Tai Lung didn’t beat the Furious Five with ease, Tai Lung even said that Shifu had taught them well, just not everything. He only got in the nerve attack because they were caught by surprise.
Tai Lung: *Tests Po’s physical prowess* Shen: *Test's Po’s mental prowess* Kai: *Tests Po's spiritual prowess* Chameleon: *Tests nothing audience's patience* Her motivation makes no sense and the most evil thing she does, Shifu already did to Po in the first movie. She can have the combined power of all the villains, but she's undoubtedly the weakest of the franchise.
Heck they should have just brought back the wu sisters instead of the chameleon since they are more interesting than the chameleon or should have written her character more interesting than what we got in the final product.
It's the simple fact that they half-assed this movie. If people enjoy it for what it is and want to watch a funny movie with action, that's perfectly fine. I'm happy for everyone who liked it. But for many of the fans who have been waiting over eight years for the next instalment, we know that DreamWorks can do a lot better. Fire the new director. The guy who directed Trolls and the Boss Baby was an immediate red flag and should not have been anywhere close to this beloved franchise. Bring back Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Stephanie Mastine, as they knew what they were doing. Hell, bring back Guillermo del Toro while they're at it. He's the reason KFP2 ended up being as great as it was. Bring back the Furious Five, deeper storytelling, better writing for the characters and villain, etc. The fact that they cheaped out and did _nothing_ with Tigress of all characters (after her being absent for two streaming shows in a row, btw) is beyond baffling. They brought back Tai Lung, a character who hasn't been seen for nearly twenty years, just to give him around five minutes of screen time. What were they thinking thinking??
@@monsterrateh3685 Are you serious? It would cost _that_ much to have _one_ line from her? Can't they just work out another deal for the next couple of movies? The Furious Five will apparently have a larger role in KFP5 as well, from what I heard, so how on earth would that work?
@@randoyt3 yep and considering some people including myself want DreamWorks to cut all ties with Mike Mitchell and just bring back the og crew from the past three movies.

Awkwafina was in the Bad Guys and Crazy Rich Asians and several other films and they did fine. Awkwafina is an acquired taste, if you put her in the right role she can be good but she’s often so typecast to the point that she’s just playing herself.

One idea that I would think would have worked better is if the Chameleon hunted down the Furious Five and took their Kung Fu and use their Kung Fu against Po. That way we could have seen more of the Furious Five in the movie and Po would have had to fight his best friends. The Five have never had a villain that's directly related towards them (aside from Tai Lung and who would get the dragon scroll). Po, Shifu and Oogway each had a villain with a backstory but the Five haven't. The Chameleon could have had a backstory about how maybe she wasn't good enough to be a part of the Five or have had some backstory with them. That could have given Chameleon more depth in character.
This is my idea for Chameleon A sorcerer, who tried to learn Kung Fu, but never saw improvement. She was always told her Kung Fu was flawed and bad. Then, she took the easy way. They did have a lame excuse for the Furious Five not being in the movie, though they really need to stop making the side characters have such huge voice actors. The reason Monkey barely has any lines throughout the original trilogy is because Jackie Chan is such an expensive voice actor to get into the role, and multiply that by 5, every line they say is costing them lots of money. What they 'Should' do, is just replace the voice actors with sound-alikes and make them more prominent characters who maybe have their own stories taking center focus in the movies. That way they don't have to worry about 'including more characters and having to worry about splitting screen time among so many new characters that the old ones get shafted'. Also, as a side note, the first KFP movie stated that they had been waiting a thousand years for the next Dragon Warrior to be selected. Why do they desperately need Po to retire and pick a new one? ... And how the **** is Shen and Kai there? Shen never had 'kung fu chi' and was just normally killed, not sent to the spirit world, and Kai was *exploded* in his spirit form in the spirit world, there is no spirit left to bring back, lol.
I also full heartedly agree that Po seeking out and choosing his successor should have been solely HIS own self made decision rather than Shifu practically forcing that decision upon him which yeah… this has always been the problem I’ve had with Shifu
@@impackmusiq5236 i wouldn’t say Po waits until he’s old but maybe rewrite it that Po gets hurt during his fight with the Stingray like he sprains his ankle or something like that and THAT’S what makes Po reevaluate his vulnerability and mortality like what if he gets more severely injured and put of commission or even killed? To me it was ok. Should have it have been better yes absolutely but I don’t think it was the worst for the franchise. DreamWorks should do better with the next film and bring back the original person who handled the other three films since they know what they were doing.
I knew kungfu panda 4 would flop the first time I heard about it. Kungfu panda 3 has already wrapped up the entire story in the cleanest way possible, there's no way you can add more to it without the whole thing collapsing. I'm gonna pretend this entire movie is non canon for the rest of my life
People think that 3 was final one when it was confirmed since 2 that there would be 4 more movies it not a cash or anything it just a bad director that made the movie suck so let hope he doesn’t direct the last 2
Not true. Po was supposed to be Oogway’s replacement. The first three movies are him discovering what being the dragon warrior really means. The movies afterwards should have focused on him being more than that, and learning what it meant to take the place of Oogway. First three movies were about learning to reach his potential and unlock the potential in others. Oogway learned to tap into the potential of the universe. Po became one with himself and learned how to teach others to become one with themselves. He should have learned to be one with the universe.
The plot itself doesn’t make sense, Oogway choosed Po for two things, because Po was choosen by the universe to be the dragon warrior (something that Tigress and Tai lung wasn’t) and becuase Oogway was in her last years.(And because it wasn’t is destiny) Maybe the narrative could fix this, but the problem is that the narrative is almost nonexistent
It also doesn't make any sense for Po to look for a successor because he's still too young for that, he's only been a dragon warrior for 8 years, oogway only took on the title when he was already very old and I think zhen is not a good choice for that
Nope , oogway choose po because he is panda , because oogway saw only the panda who can unite yin and yang based on his past with pandas who save his life
I like Tai Lung’s redemption, I think it’s cool how he came to terms with the fact that he will never be the dragon warrior after all those years of being trapped in the spirit realm but it doesn’t make as much sense for Shen and especially Kai (suffered defeat from Po the most recently, and held a grudge for 500 years so it doesn’t make sense why he would just drop it) and it doesn’t really make sense as to why Kai returned anyway since he no longer exists in the spirit realm. Involving the villains in the plot would’ve made a lot more sense if they wanted to give them a redemption, maybe they could’ve escaped the Chameleon before she could take their chi and be forced to work with Po and take down the Chameleon’s army instead of the criminals to allow Po to fight the Chameleon, maybe then it would’ve made more sense for them to have redemption arcs, but that’s just my opinion. I still enjoyed the film but it doesn’t hold up to the original trilogy IMO
I think the biggest problem about Shen and Kai is that the studio doesn't want to pay Gary Oldman and J.K. Simmons to be back for their roles because of money. So it would be too awkward to gave Shen and Kai a bigger role when they not speak. Replacing the stars with other voice actors like you would do in the tv series would make it too obvious and pathetic that a big company like Paramount doesn't want to give the budget to bring back the stars for a big movie. So at the end they reduced Kai and Shen roles in the movie as small cameos so it doesn't noticeable.
One thing that helped me about the way Shen acted toward Po, was the thought that maybe Shen met his parents in the Spirit World, and finally found peace. I thought the way Tai Lung was executed in the movie was fine, but I would've appreciated tha along with respect, Tai Lung would've said something like "I still hate you, Panda". That would have been nice. One last thing, I am not even sure that Kai should be alive
I haven't seen the movie, but if Isaac Carlson, one of if not the most positive person I've ever subscribed to on here, says it's disappointing, that means it's gotta be REALLY disappointing
Aside from Mitchell initially trying to exclude Shen and the Furious 5 (especially Tigress), and stupidly ditching Shifu's kidnapping and reconciliation with Tai Lung (all due to budgeting) the biggest problem could be the one animation weakness ... short run times. Many movies feel incomplete and rushed and so scenes we'd love to see but never do (EX: Tigress's guilt and apologizing to Po for her earlier behavior, Shifu and Mr. Ping having a talk about being foster fathers, Shifu and Tigress finally having a father-daughter moment, Po and Tigress finishing their boat conversation, the 5 learning what Shen did to the Pandas, Po and Tigress having nightmares post-Gongmen, Tigress adapting well in the Panda Village and reminded how horribly she treated Po with Panda Stereotypes but coming far since then, Tigress and the rest of the 5 declining Po's offer to become Dragon Warrior, etc.). 🐼🐯
Personally they should just kept the people who know how handle po’s story where as Mitchell doesn’t and should be let go. Did he even see the other two films? I even brought up how the five were nearly cut and animators had to step in say otherwise and add them in last minute. Heck that tai lung thing would made the film slightly more enjoyable. Now it makes me wonder what would the fans remake kung fu panda 4 into a better film.
@@theshenparteiI wouldn’t be surprised if the fans make a full on movie just to show Mike how to make a damn movie! Dreamworks should just fire him! I´ve heard that they were originally going to make Po x Tigress canon at the end of the third movie. Anyone know if that´s true? Also some of those rejected concepts sound sick, come on Dreamworks...
@@HimekoIzayoi They missed a perfect spot for TiPo when Po was doing his "I don't know who I am" speech to Tigress where Tigress could tell Po she knows who he is: the one who fell I to her life and changed it for the better, the one who showed her there was more to life than Kung Fu, the one who had more in common with her than anyone thought and understands each other the most, and the one who will be by his side no matter what - in life and in death. Po is touched by this but still fears the two of them aren't enough ... until Li Shan declares Po needs an army of his own.
I believe a way that can explain why po didn’t immediately choose tigress as the dragon warrior (other than the studio didn’t want to pay Angelina Jolie to reprise her role) is a tigress spin off movie that takes place before Kung fu panda 4. Heres my pitch: the movie takes place after the events of Kung fu panda 3. The rest of the furious 5 are off on solo missions (as I assume dreamworks still wants to make budget cuts.) with only po and tigress still at the jade palace. Po notices tigress has been acting off lately and she explains today is the day shifu first adopted her and feels like she never lived up to his standards. Po suggests trying to talk to shifu about it. When she tries to, they get word that some villain is terrorizing a village of tigers. Tigress, po, and shifu head to the village where they see the tigers, despite their strength, are actually very peaceful creatures not wanting to harm anyone which is why the main villain easily took over. They then recognize tigress as the daughter of the original protectors of the village and reveal they were forced to send her away to keep her safe from their enemies and ended up sacrificing themselves to save the village a long time ago. Tigress is saddened by this news but shifu comforts her and apologizes for not being a good father figure to her out of fear she would become like tai lung. Tigress forgives him and they get information from one of the tigers where the main villain is. Tigress, po, and shifu confront the villain who reveals he or she was the one who killed tigress’s parents. Tigress enrage loses her focus trying to avenge her parents and but is defeated by the villain who throws her down the river. Po goes to save her telling shifu to hold off the villain. When Po finds tigress, she apologizes to him for messing up their plan to defeat the villain and also apologizes for being so harsh on him when they first met. She explains she hoped that by becoming the dragon warrior, she would make shifu proud of her and was jealous when Po was chosen instead of her. Po forgives her and reveals long before he met the 5, he always hoped tigress would be the dragon warrior saying out of all the 5, he believed she was the one who deserved it the most and tells her if their came a day that he had to give up being the dragon warrior, he would give the title to her. Tigress thanks him but says she can’t accept that because she mainly wanted it to make shifu proud but now that he apologized and she forgave him, she no longer wants it saying it belongs to Po and encourages him on the day he has to give up the title, to find someone else. Po, having been given tigress’s blessing accepts it and comforts her about the loss of her parents because of his similar experience of losing his mom and being separated from his biological father. Po then confesses his feelings for tigress and tigress confesses her feelings for Po. The two then head back to the village with the tiger tribe preparing to evacuate to escape the wrath of the villain. Po then encourages tigress to train them in her ways of Kung fu. She does so and with the help from the villiage, po, and shifu, she able to defeat the villain and save the villiage. When they return home po and tigress begin a relationship with each other with tigress once again giving po her blessing to find someone else to be the dragon warrior if the day ever comes. Po is unsure about it since he believes the only other person who could be the dragon warrior other than him is her. Tigress kisses Po saying she knows it’ll be hard for him but knows he can do it. Shifu comes in saying tigress is needed to stop the free range chicken gang. Before she goes, shifu once again apologizes to tigress for not being a good father and promises to do better in the future. Tigress once again forgives him and says she no longer wants the title of dragon warrior anymore since she now has what she always wanted. The film then ends with Po telling tigress about zhen and the events of Kung fu panda 4 and tigress says with the right training, she’ll be a great successor.
Further more why is Kai still alive? At least they unintentionally proved a physics principle of matter can’t be destroyed nor created and expanded upon that principle into spirt realm physics too.
I'd say that Shen was skadooshed, but instead of the wuxi finger hold, it was when Po used the final cannon ball and sent it back to Shen (he said skadoosh before throwing it back) and when the cannon finally fell on Shen it exploded with fireworks. Even though I wanted Kai back in KFP4, it was dumb on how he returned
@@shadowfreddyfazbear9453 Shen's death was not from the Cannon ball skadoosh but after he and Po had a one on one battle. So yeah, Shen died physically, Tai Lung was Skadooshed to the spirit realm, and Kai should have not been there because he has already been banished INSIDE the spirit realm.
I was VERY disappointed. It's so sad, especially after hearing how people that worked on it fought for it to be more like 1 and 2, but were turned down in most ways. And I think you really hit the mark in this whole discussion when you mentioned how you felt you were punished by being a fan that knows all the lore of this franchise. Because a lot of people say that the movie is good (at least many kids and parents), and I think that's mostly because they don't realize how many plot holes this movie has, and that they don't really compare the movie to the other 3 like we who are big fans of them do.
Hate how the Furious Five have been forgotten about after the original KFP Trilogy? Like where were they in Paws of Destiny, The Dragon Knight and now KFP 4? Po could have easily given The Dragon Warrior role to Tigress instead of Zhen!
They weren’t in Dragon knight. Paws of desinty tigress was mentioned only briefly. Heck in this film they were almost cut entirely until the animators had to step in and put them in the last minute of the film. DreamWorks should at very least give the five a tv series or their own movies personally I would so go see a master tigress film.
That would be a lame movie. And Tigress was already shown to not be good enough for the role, so no reason she'd suddenly be picked now. It'd just be sad she got it handed to her out of pity
@CheemsSoldierEspecially Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan are might be pretty expensive. However I don't see why you should suddenly so stingy in a successful franchise. Paramount are real cheapskates.
Honestly with Kung Fu Panda 4’s mixed reception and the whole Megamind fiasco I really think this should remind people that DreamWorks ISN’T better than Disney I mean EVERY Film Studio is going to have its share of Good, Bad and Mid movies as well as questionable creative and corporate decisions Heck I have way more issues with KFP4 than I did with Wish same thing a few years ago where I found more problems with How to train your Dragon The Hidden World than with Frozen II Now I’m in No way gonna defend all of Disney’s decisions but it still really aggravates me how people continuously harp on them when other Film and TV companies can be just as bad if not worse.
Just because Dreamworks made a bad and mid movie doesn't make them not better than Disney lmao. Disney has released nothing but garbage for the past few years. Dreamworks released some genuine bangers. Ergo, Dreamworks is better.
Personally I think they could’ve also made a character growth moment in the movie about Shifu forcing Po to find a successor, when it could’ve played out as Shifu attempting to force Po into training someone to follow in his footsteps, and be the next dragon warrior, and then have him grow to realize both through his (Shifu’s) interactions with Tai Lung again and maybe some spirit world magic with Oogway that there won’t be another dragon warrior, that Po will find a different and new successor, so that Po doesn’t repeat the same mistakes as Shifu did by assuming someone should be the next dragon warrior, and instead train people to be their own person, which would also contrast nicely with some other ideas people put here for chameleons origins being that of copying others to get better. Furthermore, it would also tie every lesson from the previous movies. All in one nice little B plot for shifu.
What really upsets me about KFP4 is that there was no conclusion between shifu and tai-lung. I really wanted them to have a true reconcile before tai-lung went back to the spirit world and he can be in peace, but sadly it didn’t happen. And another thing that annoyed me is Zhen becoming the new dragon warrior. Like does she seriously deserves it after she freaking betrayed po??? Yes, she changed her mind and helped po stop the chameleon but that still doesn’t excuse what she did. She really didn’t deserve to take po’s place. If you ask me, it should’ve been tigress since she was the most devoted into becoming the dragon warrior before po took that title. It’s a shame that this 4th movie was a disappointment, I just hope they do a better job for the 5th movie if dreamworks is still willing to do more kung fu panda until the 6th movie.
@@Sprigatitto740 yea. Tigress should’ve been the one to become the new dragon warrior. It’s so unfair because she was the most devoted out of the furious 5.
@@firemiracle Who knows? Maybe Zhen will give up the role of the Dragon Warrior to someone more worthy (Which would make her being the dragon warrior at the end of KFP4 useless but it would make more sense kinda)
The team behind 4 desperately hoping people forget that Shifu kicked Po down the stairs to the Jade Palace in the first movie as a joke so that the Chameleon looks more threatening and dangerous when she does it
My dad watched this with my niece. When he came back he had the exact same concern lol He literally walked in and said “I don’t understand how her size gets her rejected when a fucking PRAYING MANTIS is a high level kung-fu master”
YES, I was SO MAD about Shifu's staff not being broken. They shoved so many callbacks to the previous movies into this one and yet forgot important details like this. ...plus basically everything else wrong with this movie.
I still think they should have used a Siberian Tiger as the villain (like imagine a scary tiger like they did with the wolf from Puss in Boots 2). And if I made a Kung fu Panda movie it would be like this: The Siberian tiger would have a team full of tigers (evil furious five tigers), the tiger would awaken an ancient evil demon, Po needs help and goes to spirit world to get help, Tai Lung decides to help and redeems himself by helping Po. Also have Shifu and Tai Lung fully forgive each other and finally have a bond like father and son type that they once had. To add it more personal to the story and furious five, one of the evil tigers from the team would be Tigress father. Again its what I would do if I could make a Kung Fu Panda movie, it would be quite serious tone like Kung Fu Panda 2
Tai lung: Destroys villages and an entire prison Shen: Takes over china, mass genocide. Kai: Destroys jade palace, defeats all masters of kung fu, defeats oogway, Steals chi. Chameleon: Pushes Jeremy lynch down the stairs
As much as I hated this movie, I’m just happy Ian McShane reprised his role as Tai Lung. So nice hearing his voice again! Wish Kai and Shen’s VAs returned or at least had one line (Same with the Furious Five) but still.
Kung Fu Panda 4 was literally the most confusing sequel I've ever scene in the Franchise, the conflicted issues to the original trilogy are paramount and offer no ingenuity here. Honestly much like other ratings, I would give it a solid 6/10, the only saving graces for the films rushed plot was the cameos. Although the lack of voicing does hurt that area as well. Isaac you've hit this nail on the head although I didn't mind the villains being respectful as it reminds me of No Way Home of the MCU. It is equivalent to that of Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides, mixed, confusing and strange.
@@godofgold8084 I know that is why I named my channel after him he is my favorite DreamWorks Bad guy second only to rameses from prince of Egypt. Third is tai lung. Heck they could use a Gary Oldman sound like plus he Oldman was probably being busy playing Truman in a little known movie called Oppenheimer.
@@theshenpartei Yeah, its still a shame, if only a spinoff was made for the villains after, maybe it would make up for the casualties that is the 4th film.
It’s basically another Toy Story 4 incident. The movie wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good, it was mid and overall unnecessary. I just wish companies would stop breaking trilogies that should’ve stayed trilogies just for money.
My thought is this: At best, it's just okay. At worst, it's a unnecessary sequel that did nothing to justify its existence. I will say the movie has beautiful animation, there's some good humor, I love Po's dads the most (despite being in a plot that could have been easily cut out), the voice acting is solid, and the action is well handled. However, no amount of action and pretty visuals can overcome how frustrating and poorly handled the story and characters are. Many returning ones are ignored or poorly handled, the new ones are fine but uninteresting (Chameleon looked cool though and love her shape-shifting abilities), and the relationship between Po and Zhen, while not awful, isn't believable enough for me to get invested in. The theme of change, while a great idea on paper, isn't properly explored as the movie doesn't commit to that idea fully. But the big kick in the heart for me was the return of Tai Lung. When I saw him coming back, I was so excited! I actually had no interest in the movie until I found out he was coming back, as I love Tai Lung in the first movie (so much so it gave me a good reason to rewatch the first movie), and it looked amazing in the trailer. I really thought something special was happening, especially with how it was said the other villains would pop up. Sadly, Tai Lung was in it for 3-5 minutes, with an incredibly rushed redemption arc (if you could even call it that). I will say I love his return and the fight he had was epic. Short but epic. I would have forgiven that if the marketing and the filmmakers weren't being deceptive, saying that they had a lot of exciting things to show off in 4 and that Tai Lung was gonna have a role of sorts in the movie. The fact that they baited me, along with many others to go see the movie with that genuinely makes me mad, and because of that, I will never watch another Kung Fu Panda movie or whatever thing they got in mind in the future. If you won't give me what you advertise, or outright lie about your product to your customer, then why should I come back for whatever mediocre future you got in store for the audience? No wonder Hollywood is failing. They don't wanna respect the audience. And you know what's sad? This movie, on paper, could have been amazing! But instead, it's amazing in how badly the filmmakers messed up Kung Fu Panda 4! I will enjoy the first three movies and some other stuff, but after 4, I'm officially done with the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
I am sad that my gut feeling about this movie was right. I'd tried to have hope, to ignore that gut feeling that this movie would be the dark sheep of the Kung Fu Panda movies... but hearing even just 2 reviews and the reasons why they didn't like the movie, my gut was sadly right. I'm just going to do with Kung Fu Panda, what I did with the Jurassic Park movies: ignore the last one in the franchise. Yes, the Jurassic World movies are set in the same universe and follow up on the Jurassic Park movies, but going by title specifically, Jurassic Park 3 was the last Jurassic PARK movie. Like it, I am choosing to ignore Kung Fu Panda 4 and pretend it doesn't exist
I feel like this couldve been fixed by fixing a minor issue with the 3rd movie. Maybe in the 3rd movie, Po still becomes a teacher but so do the five because as Shifu points out, theyre getting older and they cant always be there to protect the valley. So they start letting in people who are interested in learning kung fu, in hopes to find the next Furious Five. One of the applicants being Chameleon, who I'll call Xiao (its strange that she's only referred to as Chameleon when the previous villains have proper names. Also, Xiao means small in Chinese which refers to her size). Xiao came from a long line of kung fu masters herself but she herself couldnt seem to get a hang of it so she was sent to Po in hopes that maybe the Dragon Warrior, the Furious Five and the great Shifu could potentially help her. Sadly, she turns out to not have any potential kung fu no matter who is teaching her be it one of the Five or Po or even Shifu. I imagine that they were going to send Xiao away when Kai attacked and instead fighting alongside the Five and the other students, Xiao hid away and from her hiding spot she watched Kai use what she thought was magic to turn everyone into jade pendants and summon jade minions. Thats when she had an idea. If she cant learn kung fu the natural way, then fine, she'll cheat and steal everyone's kung fu. Then cut to movie 4 and yeah, Xiao has stolen Kai and Tai Lung's kung fu but also other people's kung fu like Po's graduates and even the five and Po's kung fu, which forces Po to relearn everything he worked for. Also, maybe just to rub salt onto an open wound, she took on his appearance and made everyone believe she's Po so now Po has to prove that he's the real Po but well, he doesnt have his kung fu so that's obviously a problem.
i agree because one thing that made the chameleon weak as it already is was a backstory that explains why he became a villain like how tai lung became a villain because he wasn't chosen as the dragon warrior or how lord shen became a villain when he did a genocide and got banished from his home and how kai became a villain after oogway saw the bad in him and banished him to the spirit realm you get the point
After the whole fiasco with this movie, let's just say my expectations for the next line of movies is definitely low. If they're just gonna keep going the same route, then Kung Fu Panda 3 is the official end for me. I'll treat the sequel trilogy the same as I treat the TV shows. A non-canon fanfiction that can be watched if you want more Kung Fu Panda without it contradicting any of the lore and storytelling of the main three films.
So what is your take on the comics then same as the tv shows or not? I’m in the camp the shows are canon although the entire franchise should have a bible on what is canon or not canon.
I watched the Kung Fu Panda 4 movie and it didn’t even feel like as another sequel of Kung Fu Panda. The furious five got left out for an unimaginable reason, the citizens, where Zhen lived, didn’t even know who Po was,who saved the whole China TWICE, Shifu and Po’s biological father got character assasinated and the chameleon didn’t really pose a big threat as a villain. These really disappointed me,because I LOVE KUNG FU PANDA.There were too many funny moments, which I couldn’t take this movie seriously and as a part of Po’s story and journey.
Heck li should just lashed out at shen for murdering his wife or shen should just messed with his mind or told him that his wife is still alive or something.
@@miggymoneybags747li could of gone Heisenberg on shen but no he didn’t sadly. There was so much missed potential for this movie and DreamWorks should do better with the next two ones and make up for the fourth one and up there game. Personally bring back the people who helped helm the first three films and go from there since they knew what they were working with.
@@theshenpartei James Hong the voice actor for Mr.Ping is 95 and might retire if he doesn’t return for KFP5 they might make Pings noddle shop a shrine or memorial indicating that Mr.ping has died. This of course would be a side plot to the movie. The main plot I still don’t have an idea of what it could be.
Yeah it is. I mean, the Movies 1- 3 Let us watch Po grow, not only in his role as the Dragon Warrior, but also in his character. He goes trough many Hardships to find inner peace and I don't understand, why he now needs to find a succsesor? I thought Po was Chosen to be THE Dragon Warrior. He is something unique. This is something, that can't be carried over trough training!
I actualy enjoyed the movie in my first watch, but during my second time watching it i already started to see the flaws on why people didnt like the movie. Honestly the 4th movie should've been the last and final film of the franchise and i think a dark and serious tone would've suit the film more in my opinion. Also i think tai lung should've been the only villian to appear because, having shen and kai return isn't really necessary in my perspective. It also would've been cool if the chameleon also captured the furious five and steals their chi and shapeshifts into them to fight po later on. I also want to talk about the chameleon's domain i actualy thought of this idea 2 days ago. Instead of taking over a city which we've already seen with lord shen, i think it would've been better if the chameleon lived in some abandoned temple where she got locked up by oogway due to her sourcery being too dangerous and frightening. I think a rivalry between kung fu and sourcery would be a very intresting concept to see on screen. So yeah those are my thoughts, this movie had so much potential and it was all wasted just for them to start a new trilogy which im worried about. I have alot of mixed feelings for this 4th installment but all in all i rated this movie a 7.5/10 and it definetly could've been executed alot better than it already has.
Tai Lung: Wants to get revenge because he was meant to be the dragon warrior but oogway didn’t believe in him so he wanted to tear down the valley of peace and also escaped from an insanely guarded prison Lord Shen: His parents kicks him out of the palace so he got an army to take the entire China and makes a genocide on pandas General Kai: Gets betrayed by oogway and steals every masters QI and also has an insanely good backstory The Chameleon: Wanted to learn Kung Fu but gets denied from kung fu schools because of her size so she decides to take what she wanted by stealing kung fu of masters and also gave a bad light on previus kfp villains . Not forgetting that she has no back-story. My ratings: 1st: Kfp 2 2nd: Kfp 1 3rd: Kfp 3 4tg: Kfp 4
Zen was the peach pit. Zen was po. That’s why po chose her. We see zen, like the tournament audience saw po in the first movie. And po saw zen, as oogway once saw him. Or… he just threw the title away, so zen could prove herself, I dunno . 🤷♂️
Holy Fuzz Balls, Even Isaac Carlson The One Channel that has the best passion and love for these Films more than anyone, Is saying This was Disappointing.
Yes... Ugway spent decades being alive before any dragon warrior was declared. Po shows up and then hands the dragon warrior status to Zhen after only 4 movies? That to me is very disappointing 😞 Yeah I get it. Po is a panda and not a wise aged turtle, but still. We watched him grow into the dragon warrior and now it's a power that can be given away like candy? Seems too easy of a cope out for me. I would have liked to see Po's adventures as the fully realized dragon warrior BEFORE handing those gifts to the next generation. Just makes me sad cause I really like Po as a character and he's why I watched the movies/TV show
If anyone deserved to become the next dragon warrior it was Tigeress. Not because she wanted it, but because she learned to accept not having it and instead of being bitter she became a mentor and friend to Po. Either that, or the new character needed something to tie her to kung-fu. Like... she is a runaway from an abuse parent who taught her kung-fu and Po shows her a 'better' way. Even just keep her as an orphan , but Zhen needed something... more to her backstory
My feelings on Kung Fu Panda 4 are mixed. As with the other films, I still enjoyed the film despite its flaws. However, it could have been a lot better in some places. The idea of Po becoming Oogway's successor made sense, as it was applied in Kung Fu Panda 3. I don't think he was fully his successor in 3 yet. The series of films could take a few years after each film. Shifu's character here feels somewhat off. I thought Zhen was much better than I thought she would be, as I was afraid they would make her a Mary Sue, but I was thankful she didn't come off that way. I thought her dynamic with Po was fun. Zhen's backstory feels half-baked and could have been done much better. From what the behind-the-scenes say, it looks like she could have had so much more, and I hope the future installments add to that. I liked how Po's characterization was handled here, as he felt a little bit wiser and smarter than in the previous films. His ability to handle most situations adds to how far he's come since the first film. I agree that the Chameleon is easily the series' worst villain, as she does not feel fleshed out at all despite her amazing design and performance. The film felt rather fast compared to the previous films in the series. I thought Tai Lung was fine, as his bowing down to Po shows that he now accepts him and accepts that he didn't become the Dragon Warrior, but I agree it could have been done a bit better with the other two. I was disappointed with the Furious Five's lack of appearance in this film, but I also felt they would have been unnecessary. But I wish they could have at least served as some backup during the attack against Chameleon's soldiers with Mr Ping, Li Shen, and the bandits. As well as the idea of Tigress becoming Shifu's successor, like Po becoming Oogway's. There are also reports of them extending the Kung Fu Panda series, and the directors and executives are aware of how much people want to see more of the Furious Five, so the idea of them getting their own film could happen. Here's my ranking of the Kung Fu Panda movies: 1. Kung Fu Panda 2. Kung Fu Panda 2 3. Kung Fu Panda 3 4. Kung Fu Panda 4. I love all these films. Kung Fu Panda 4 will also get a short to come with its DVD and Blu-ray. I can't wait to see what it is.
When Puss in Boots: The Last Wish came out, I thought ALL of the upcoming Dreamworks sequels would be good and epic (As they used to be) But Instead we got Megacringe and a mediocre Kung Fu Panda movie Now I’m worried for Shrek 5
Two things that disappointed me the most in Kung Fu Panda 4 1. no furious Five in the movie until the credits which shouldn't even count because they should have been in the movie period 2. not even 3 minutes of the screen of Tai Lung and him meeting up with Po and Shifu and to the fans I'm going to say this Tai Lung never gets redeemed or a repetition arc everyone wanted. Most of what Tai Lung did after Po won is say he was in the wrong and gave po his respect and told him to send him back to the spirit realm that's it For a movie, I wouldn't mind Kung Fu Panda 4 but for a movie that is a part of the Kung Fu Panda Trilogy and is supposed to be cannon I am very disappointed
I actually thought this film was gonna come out a lot later like during the summer. I honestly didn’t expect it to come out now. And that’s definitely saying something because I still haven’t seen the third movie yet.
@@griffinmiller9012 Bad my foot. It was still very good, not as good as the first 2, kfp 1 and 2 will never be surpassed by any future kfp movies, but 3 is definetly good as well. and plus how will he understand kfp 4 without watching the 3rd?
I have a theory for Shifu’s staff. Shifu was always using the same staff. Since he has mastered chi after Po’s teaching after the third movie, he fixed it with chi.
So, Po passes down the torch to Awkwafina fox. Why is she in every cartoon lately? So, does Po die in this one or something? Why would they need a new Dragon Warrior? What does Master Shifu know? Pretty sure Po has surpassed him several times over already. Sounds like this is the Shrek the Third of the series.
Imagine if, instead of the Chameleon wanting to be a master of Kung Fu to take over the world, she was instead a ninja assassin that wanted to eliminate Kung Fu, by embracing ninjutsu, and sorcery. As a backstory, she was a prodigy in a group of assassins, known and feared throughout the world, but as Kung Fu became more common, the assassination attempts failed more and more until the Kung Fu masters eventually found and destroyed the group, leaving a scared Chameleon the only survivor. Now, instead of a martial artist wanting to rule China or become the best fighter, we have an assassin with magic that wanted to tear everything Kung Fu down, with her using misdirection, calculating plotting and abilities of magic and shapeshifting to match and even defeat several masters. Essentially, she would be the ninja/ sorceress version of all of Po's enemies, having Tai Lung's pride and obsession with being the best, Shen's hatred and manpower to be a threat, and Kai's desire to wipe out Kung Fu out of anger similar to how he tried to fo the same out of hatred for Oogway, and the plot would be Po, who was on a journey to see the world. There he would encounter Zhen, who works for the Chameleon, and get a target on his head, which has Tai Lung, Shen and Kai being used to eliminate Po, which fails, and eventually ends with Zhen leaving the Chameleon as an assassin, joining Po on his journey, and show how both Po and his villains changed since meeting Po.
I want to believe the Chameleon was a great villain, but she just wasn't. Not like the other 3, at least. Tai Lung: Crashed Po into the ground Lord Shen: Traumatized and shot Po with his cannon General Kai: Beat down and chained Po and threatened his family The Chameleon: Locked him in a cage for a moment. The first three all brought Po down to his knees, feeling hopeless. The Chameleon just made him a little sad for a moment at Zhen's betrayal.
Lol Po easily overcome tai lung with his belly fat kung fu , easily defeat him Po easily overcome shen cannon after find his inner peace The only villian that po struggle againts is kai and the chamaleon Po defeat kai with the help of pandas while po defeat chameleon with the help of zhen
I liked this video because I understood the flaws you pointed out. Regardless, the movie was a nice continuation in showcasing a new event in Po's life. *And to point out some of the flaws with a few factors and headcanons (spoilers, of course):* 1. Is it really necessary for the Chameleon to be connected to Po in any way? No! And why should she? It'd be too redundant. 2. With TV Tropes' Fridge Logic summing up why Po chose Zhen: Zhen never sought the title either, but by the end of film, she showed her potential and more importantly, willingness to change is what got Po's attention to humbly choose her as his successor. To be the Dragon Warrior, one doesn't have to be a master, one must be willing to improve. 3. Let's take into account that time likely has passed after the events of _Kung Fu Panda 3_ to justify Shifu informing Po about advancing to Spiritual Leader, implying how Po has improved in defending the Valley of Peace and such. And, besides, there was no indication in _Kung Fu Panda 3_ that he already became spiritual leader. 4. Li Shan may have settled down and felt content with his life after _3_ while defending against Shen's army and Kai's jombies had been out of bravery; partaking into action still may be new to him. 5. The past villains' time in the spirit realm was probably enough time in developing regret over their actions and seeing the Chameleon take possession of their abilities can come as a clever nod over how Tai Lung had wanted to be the Dragon Warrior and possess the Dragon Scroll, Shen had wanted to rule China for his own personal gain, and Kai had stolen the chi from the kung fu masters; the Chameleon stealing their powers comes off as cathartic and would likely have them remember their ways of obtaining something for their own personal gains. 6. I honestly don't mind the Furious Five set aside as it's a way to give Po some independence and not give him any reliance on the Five. 7. And to quote one user on Fandom: "The lack of detailed backstory and screentime for Chameleon makes her mysterious. Plus racism and prejudices are bound to exist in some dojos." With that done, what a flawed movie it is, you can always discover the positive details about it. The only flaw with _Kung Fu Panda 4_ was the fart joke added when Po and Zhen sneak inside from the sleeping army.
I think that the story would have been better off giving Tai Lung a redemption story possibly around the chameleon killing Shifu and him teaming up with Po and Tigress to take down the chameleon and possibly make Tigress the new Shifu, Tai Lung the new Dragon Warrior and having the new girl be the start of a new furious five
Imagine. Just imagine if we get the spiderman far from home treatment. Where the villain isn't actually the final villain, and turns out Tai Lung can defeat the chameleon easily. Then we will have 2nd round of Po vs Tai Lung with Shifu watching over them worried for both. Imagine how cold that is. And at the end, either shifu died trying to save one of them (and make tai lung redeem himself), or make tai lung escape and proof he can make a better kung fu than oogway (that means in the 5th we can have different martial arts fight, how cool is that?!). My point is, furious five isn't a requirement to make a good kung fu panda movie, we just need a good story and consistency to the lore and characters.
At first when I saw you're video for Kung Fu Panda 4 explaning that Tai Lung, Shen and Kai were gonna come back the first thought I had about it was that they were all gonna team up to destroy Po and everything and everyone he loved. But when you said that at the end they bowed and were greatful to him I just couldn't believe it. And also it reminded me of you're video explaning Tai Lung wanting redemption twards Po for freeing him from Kai.
Was it the best movie of the franchise? No. Was it a decent movie that my kid (emphasis on kid) enjoyed? Yes. I don't think it is as bad as everyone thinks. Everyone has their opinion.
Tbh, I feel like there alot of things that might've went on behind the scenes when Kung Fu Panda 4 was being made. Especially you put in the account that this film was being put on hold due to the writers and actors strikes at the time. So, basically, the animators of the Kung fu panda film series were doing all they can with the writing parts of Kfp4.
Mike Mitchell the director had complete control over the film. Stephanie Ma Stine the “co-director”, who worked on KFP 1 and 2, was completely ignored as a “nobody.” Her ideas were for Po/Shifu to have a vision of Shifu being kidnapped by the chameleon and then Po would have had to work with Zhen to go rescue him, and allowing Shifu to be present to have a final closure with Tai Lung. She and many people wanted The Furious Five present for more of the movie. She wanted Zhen and the Chameleon’s backstory and relationship and Po and Zhen’s developing friendship to be deeper and more emotional. But, NO, Mike Mitchell decided AGAINST ALL OF THAT, because The Five’s VAs were too expensive, but they had enough money for other A list actors to play these new unnecessary side characters, because he thought the villain’s backstory WASN’T IMPORTANT, refused the deeper emotional moments because he wanted a FUNNY CONEDY MOVIE FOR KIDS, and shortened the length because KIDS CAN’T FICUS ON A LINGER MOVIE! Newsflash, Mike, your TARGET AUDIENCE ARE NOT KIDS! The people who watched Kung Fu Panda 1,2, and 3 are TEENAGERS AND ADULTS with THEIR kids! I just. .HOW DOES HE THINK THAT THE VILLAINS BACKSTORY IS “UNIMPORTANT”?! A movie is only as good as its villain, and a villain is only as good as their backstory. Comedy is there to balance out the serious moments, which this movie barely had. Stories are only as good as their emotional depth, which this was just a puddle. Never let this guy direct a KFP movie ever again.
@@EverythingAndAnythingGoes24Stephanie had a literal banger of a 4th film planned! Omg it sounds so damn good! Fire Mike like what the hell were they thinking?! Hopefully the next 2 films are made with Stephanie cause damn KFP4 would have been amazing!

Man, I’m really disappointed that tigress wasn’t appointed as the dragon warrior. She had more experience than Po and had a much deeper connection than that random fox thief.
Agreed
I think picking tigress or the rando for thief isn't the main issue. At the end, it is that unpredictability which I love that they follow from Oogway and Po.
Tigress, despite not having the dragon warrior title can still make her name. And she can prove herself like shifu did. So even if Po doesn't appoint her, it wouldn't be a big thing. (Of cuz if he picked her, I would be happy too)
Dragon warrior, I think it is based on being in line with the universe or have that experience like no other understanding people and to the experience of universe.
Not him just picking a dragon warrior just like that
But... I agree at the same time!
Absolutely, she's a perfect fit for the role
Which is why she would never be Po's successor, you pass legacy to the younger generation, not the older one, connection is also kinda irrelevant, just like how it was irrelevant when Oogway chose Po above anyone in the 5
Po: passed the title of Dragon Warrior to an unknown thief.
Tigress: Am I a joke to you?
Dreamworks: Yes you are, thats why you only appear in end credits scene
At some point dream works needs a furious five tv series or movie make the tigress movie.
That thief kinda feels like awkwkfina's self insert
The fact a thief is given that role is horrible.
Exactly what I'm thinking 😢
The Chameleon felt like one member of a quirky villain group. Shapeshifting powers, cool design, and a random single sentence backstory. I could see her losing to one of the Furious Five while Po and the others climatically defeat their own opponents.
One of my biggest fears has come true. And it's that Puss in Boots 2 wasn't a sign of a new direction for DreamWorks, it was an anomaly.
They're gonna ruin Shrek 5 I can already see it
Cant wait to see the live action How to train your dragon -_- *sighs*
Dreamworks was known for having sh*t movies and some gems ,puss in boots two was one if those gems
The only DreamWorks consistency is their inconsistency
chameleon should have acted like an actual chameleon causing doubt and impersonating as po’s friends and family making po unsure of who he can trust or not or pretending to be po and destroy his reputation.

Heck, they had a whole subplot of Po’s panda dad learning to be brave, what is braver than facing the peacock who attacked your village, was responsible for killing your friends, family and wife and the reason you were separated from your son for years.
Plus po at least remember who Kai was and Kai just wanted his chi
Shen on the other hand is a total panda racism so bowing to po feels so out of place
It would be better tho if po freed tai lung, Shen, and Kai, put aside their differences (and panda racism), and stop the chameleon together (who wasn’t really all that powerful tho)

This is a late reply but as po gave them back their Kung fu and abilities Po can finally live In peace with his enemies once and for all
Honestly the chameleon feels like it had so much potential but her origin of beign too "small"... Mantis would like a Word on the matter
Heck tong fo might be the same size as her if not bigger.
@@PA071N3 you should've been hired
Lord Shen: Commits panda genocide, takes over Gongman City with his wolf army, and also beats the Furious Five.

Po passing on the title of Dragon Warrior to Zhen is like marrying a person you just met that day.
So before there was Furious Six with Po, there was a Furious Six with Chameleon. I like it!
This is my idea for Chameleon

Furthermore, it would also tie every lesson from the previous movies. All in one nice little B plot for shifu.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention this, but I think her name is bland. ‘The chameleon’ it sound so uninspired.
At least call her something cool, maybe something like a phrase in Chinese meaning ‘to hide’. Some like Tai lung which I think means ‘dragon’

The plot itself doesn’t make sense, Oogway choosed Po for two things, because Po was choosen by the universe to be the dragon warrior (something that Tigress and Tai lung wasn’t) and becuase Oogway was in her last years.(And because it wasn’t is destiny)
Maybe the narrative could fix this, but the problem is that the narrative is almost nonexistent
It also doesn't make any sense for Po to look for a successor because he's still too young for that, he's only been a dragon warrior for 8 years, oogway only took on the title when he was already very old
and I think zhen is not a good choice for that
I think there's still a chance for Zhen. Remember Po was a nobody in kung fu when he was chosen as the dragon warrior
@@Prometheus_Altbut shen had much more experience than po at the time
Nope , oogway choose po because he is panda , because oogway saw only the panda who can unite yin and yang based on his past with pandas who save his life
yeah, Oogway was practically dying when he choose who will be the dragon warrior. Is Po dying? Is it all those dumpling he eat??
I love how almost every video talking about this movie has the same exact title.
I know. I was trying to come up with a better way to describe it, but it was just kind of the theme for me.

I just want to point out, Tai Lung was the only villain Po skadooshed, Shen was crushed by a cannon, and Kai exploded, I guess?
Further more why is Kai still alive?
At least they unintentionally proved a physics principle of matter can’t be destroyed nor created and expanded upon that principle into spirt realm physics too.
I'd say that Shen was skadooshed, but instead of the wuxi finger hold, it was when Po used the final cannon ball and sent it back to Shen (he said skadoosh before throwing it back) and when the cannon finally fell on Shen it exploded with fireworks.

Actually, there is a canon reason Shifu's staff isn't broken. According to Stephanie Ma Stine, he used his chi to fix it.
I still think they should have used a Siberian Tiger as the villain (like imagine a scary tiger like they did with the wolf from Puss in Boots 2). And if I made a Kung fu Panda movie it would be like this:
The Siberian tiger would have a team full of tigers (evil furious five tigers), the tiger would awaken an ancient evil demon, Po needs help and goes to spirit world to get help, Tai Lung decides to help and redeems himself by helping Po. Also have Shifu and Tai Lung fully forgive each other and finally have a bond like father and son type that they once had.
To add it more personal to the story and furious five, one of the evil tigers from the team would be Tigress father.
Again its what I would do if I could make a Kung Fu Panda movie, it would be quite serious tone like Kung Fu Panda 2

for real
My thought is this:
At best, it's just okay.
Lets face it the movie wasnt too good because tai lung didnt get enough spot light
I mean, his return is pointless here since the movie SOMEHOW made him do nothing
@@Khann_2102 That's what i m saying i expected him to do way more
As a tai lung fan, no, his appearance in this film is completely useless and not even necessary. They just made him appear in the film as a fanbait.
Bro said" disappointed,sad and powerless"💀
i agree because one thing that made the chameleon weak as it already is was a backstory that explains why he became a villain like how tai lung became a villain because he wasn't chosen as the dragon warrior or how lord shen became a villain when he did a genocide and got banished from his home and how kai became a villain after oogway saw the bad in him and banished him to the spirit realm you get the point
I found it weird that Li Shen saw Lord Shen and didn’t even show any sign of worry at the end of the movie. You would think he would have PTSD.
Heck li should just lashed out at shen for murdering his wife or shen should just messed with his mind or told him that his wife is still alive or something.
@@theshenpartei yeah you’re right. There was so much potential that was wasted with this film. I wasn’t emotionally invested.
That could be an emotional element that KFP4 was missing.
Tai Lung: Wants to get revenge because he was meant to be the dragon warrior but oogway didn’t believe in him so he wanted to tear down the valley of peace and also escaped from an insanely guarded prison
Lord Shen: His parents kicks him out of the palace so he got an army to take the entire China and makes a genocide on pandas
General Kai: Gets betrayed by oogway and steals every masters QI and also has an insanely good backstory
The Chameleon: Wanted to learn Kung Fu but gets denied from kung fu schools because of her size so she decides to take what she wanted by stealing kung fu of masters and also gave a bad light on previus kfp villains . Not forgetting that she has no back-story.
My ratings:
1st: Kfp 2
2nd: Kfp 1
3rd: Kfp 3
4tg: Kfp 4
You know it's bad when isaac says it is.
That to me is very disappointing 😞
Yeah I get it.
Is prime oogway still the strongest charachter in the verse considering the op staff of wisdom is his and all the other feats he has ?
Prime oogway is strong
I would say so.
Yes, because I don't know what universe this movie was in but it sure wasn't in our Kung Fu Panda's. 😐
When Puss in Boots: The Last Wish came out, I thought ALL of the upcoming Dreamworks sequels would be good and epic (As they used to be)
But Instead we got Megacringe and a mediocre Kung Fu Panda movie
Now I’m worried for Shrek 5
Two things that disappointed me the most in Kung Fu Panda 4
1. no furious Five in the movie until the credits which shouldn't even count because they should have been in the movie period
2. not even 3 minutes of the screen of Tai Lung and him meeting up with Po and Shifu and to the fans I'm going to say this Tai Lung never gets redeemed or a repetition arc everyone wanted. Most of what Tai Lung did after Po won is say he was in the wrong and gave po his respect and told him to send him back to the spirit realm that's it
For a movie, I wouldn't mind Kung Fu Panda 4 but for a movie that is a part of the Kung Fu Panda Trilogy and is supposed to be cannon I am very disappointed
Heck the five’s adventure can make their own tv series or at least movies.
I actually thought this film was gonna come out a lot later like during the summer. I honestly didn’t expect it to come out now. And that’s definitely saying something because I still haven’t seen the third movie yet.
Oh the 3rd movie is bad. Don’t waste your time on it
Third movie is amazing, definitely worth the watch
@@griffinmiller9012 Bad my foot. It was still very good, not as good as the first 2, kfp 1 and 2 will never be surpassed by any future kfp movies, but 3 is definetly good as well. and plus how will he understand kfp 4 without watching the 3rd?
Third was the best in my opinion. I like movies. Kai was my favourite villain anyway
@CheemsSoldier ye
Chameloens abilities on paper could have made her Po's most feared and powerful opponent but we ended up with a boring villain with a boring backstory
Man and Shrek the third is Miles better than this movie
Tai Lung: Crashed Po into the ground
Lord Shen: Traumatized and shot Po with his cannon
General Kai: Beat down and chained Po and threatened his family
The Chameleon: Locked him in a cage for a moment.
The first three all brought Po down to his knees, feeling hopeless. The Chameleon just made him a little sad for a moment at Zhen's betrayal.
Lol
Po easily overcome tai lung with his belly fat kung fu , easily defeat him
Po easily overcome shen cannon after find his inner peace
The only villian that po struggle againts is kai and the chamaleon
Po defeat kai with the help of pandas while po defeat chameleon with the help of zhen
I liked this video because I understood the flaws you pointed out.
Regardless, the movie was a nice continuation in showcasing a new event in Po's life.
*And to point out some of the flaws with a few factors and headcanons (spoilers, of course):*
Plus racism and prejudices are bound to exist in some dojos."
With that done, what a flawed movie it is, you can always discover the positive details about it.
