- Kate Bush - Breathing - Live. For me it's her best live performance.
I only know it was for Comic Relief... probably in the 90's.
Everytime I hear this live performance I cry.
I cry with pain and joy at the same time...
Very strange feeling.
Her voice and her Fender piano move me and I can't do anything else that just listening.
This video is strangely rare.
I've tried to clean the image and replace the original sound with the track I have on a CD (from vinyle I guess).

When a song is entirely stripped down of its production and still shines as brightly, that's when you know it's the work of a true artist.
Or you could read the lyrics and think "OMG, one of the greatest lyricists of all times died and was replaced with a random word generator.". I don't know what happened to the real Kate Bush, but it must have involved traumatic brain injury. She could express a universe of emotion in three lines. This person, whoever this is, is just rambling.

the fact that this was the only time she played breathing makes this live version seem even more magical

I'm so grateful she did this, not only is it the only live performance of Breathing, one of my favorite songs, but it also isn't lipsynced like almost all her TV performances (that wasn't her choice though), and it's just such a treasure wow. This version is so beautiful and moving, her voice and piano playing is so stunning and full of emotion. Imagine if she would've done more performances like this...

As much as I love her albums, it's sad that there isn't more footage like this, where she performs in such a direct and moving way. An amazing singer and musician.

I'm still convinced this is the best live performance she ever did. It's incredible. 1:53 is the most beautiful note she's ever sang in my opinion.
No, best notes are her deep voice in "everywhere" at 1:45 and "you and me" at 1:50. Pure bliss.

The way she delivers that first line of the chorus just hits me every single time, "Just keep breathing". I'm in love with how the song shifts from ominous and dark to almost seeming hopeful for a brief moment.

@1manuscriptman ah come on, there's not that much between them. Freddy could've written Babooshska or even Wuthering Heights, but Kate couldn't have written Crazy Little Thing Called Love. But both of them could equally get behind a piano and break our hearts with a performance.

That is very much the feels that Kate has produced in many of us. She's so special in my life.
Noted some comments below about this song being rushed. This also reminds me of the shortened version of R.U.T.H. at the Amnesty International "Secret Policeman's Third Ball". There may have been a time constraint. I'm guessing Kate chose one of her more powerful songs and found a way to get her message across at a faster pace. I give her credit for using this song, and still making it sound damned awesome.

This is from the Comic Relief revue at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London in April 1986. She also performed the duet with Rowan Atkinson ("Do bears ...?") on that occasion.

Is she underrated? I don't think so, she's held in incredibly high esteem within and without the music industry.
@@neilcole9698 She is underrated because she is not the super star she deserves to be. She has way more talent than many super stars. On one hand, it's a good thing she is not, as the star system is cruel and does not let the singers do what they really want to do. But on the other hand, it's kind of bad, because so many people don't know her, while she is an absolute gem, a genius that everyone should know...
She exudes femininity in a way one does not see often in today’s female singers.
