  • In this tutorial video, I'll show you how I paint a faux labradorite on glass cabochons. It only take the nail polish of your choice, I LOVE the Revlon Amethyst Smoke to emulate the labradorite stone look. Add other colors of your choice to create a rainbow effect or single colors. I also took some black polish to create more defined lines along with taking an awl to make some scratches after the polish has dried to make more subtle lines.
Like hand painted dragon eyes or galaxies, these cabochons can be used in many ways, wrap in chainmaille, wire, or set in a simple bezel. Your imagination is the only limit!

Thanks for posting this tutorial! I was about to try resin but this looks far easier and a bit more respiratory-friendly (especially with my stash of low-VOC polish). 😀

Thank you for sharing your magic! Fabulous and impressive results!
I modify my NPs with a touch of black to add depth as needed (mixed before applications) for other projects which may be an easy solution in the shades you mentioned.

It's an excellent idea, it makes me wonder if you could use acrylic paints to get a smoother blend

instead of wiping the cabochon on the napkin, which tears off, try it on plastic. I used the plastic I cover my tables with....
