Because we are not dumb, we don't try to fly with a car, but we expect from a 1000€ computer/machine to sample. We also do not try to compare a limited physical acoustic instrument with a computer/machine driven by software.
@@new.romance999 yeah, the original comment is ridiculous. The only reasons it can’t sample is because Elektron doesn’t want to cannibalize it’s own product’s market. Bought it specifically for synthesizing all my own drums, to go along with the digitakt and digitone. Between the 3 I have more than enough options now for building tracks.

...and those cowbells from syntakt... sure I'll get it soon. Love to Elektron group what They already achieved. &Thank You. Still the best channel on RUclips.
I like the Classic Kick machine. You get a bunch of tick options on that. The digital machines really make up everything you miss from an x0x drum box and u get 8 tracks to use. Pretty sweet.
I have a lot of fun using it and it can go very wild if you dive deep into lfo/envelop modulations. I tried with MPC, Octa, Force but finally end up using it with analog four. Wich works the best for me as i can use the 4 audio lines out with fx. Anyway, it can be a great companion to any live setup.
Thank you for your excellent content. I am an MPC user but have found it a bit sterile because I'm not a big sample diver. I was going to get a Digitone to pair with my MPC One to see where that took me, but maybe the Syntakt is the answer... So many questions!!
You guys are going down the alley I want to go. Since it’s been out for a while I’m thinking about getting one to pair it to my MPC. I’m just hoping the workflow isn’t too complicated. Ricky makes it all look so easy
I recently picked up a Digitone Keys and love it (my first Elektron box). I also just got an MPC One which I'm new to. I'm renting a Syntakt at the moment (I know, too much gear!), and it's fun, but I think that a Digitakt would go better with the DK and MPC One than a Syntakt would. I suppose that the MPC One is great with samples, so I don't need a Syntakt or a Digitakt - too much GAS, man! @Doctor 808 - if I had an MPC and was picking up an Elektron box, it'd be a tough call between the Digitone and the Syntakt. The sound design on the Digitone is deeper than the Syntakt for sure (4 synth pages on DN vs 1 synth page on ST). The extra tracks and fx track on the ST are really handy.. Did you find any answers to your questions? :)
I rarely sell anything, and I’m definitely holding onto my DB Impact. The more drum options at my disposal, the better! What makes the Syntakt interesting is the combination of drum sounds and synth sounds. It really is a “groovebox”, and it’s fantastic when paired with a Digitakt and Digitone.
Tbh this video shows me exactly why I don't want a Syntakt, it just sounds too much like a Model:Cycles, which is a machine I struggle to get good results from, besides kickdrums and bass - just like you mention! And I can't stand the M:C hi hat sound, though I liked it at first, I think I just overused it, but it really sticks out to me when I hear it now when people use it. Maybe the analogue hat would be cool for me Overbridge is amazing for sure, I played with a friends Digitakt using Overbridge and it's like something from the future, especially compared to my Model:Sampes (amazing value for money I think) can imagine great workflow with the Syntakt End of the day it's all about making music and finding the boxes that are right for you, so yeah enjoy the Syntakt and thanks for the video : )
I've never been a fan of the Elektron workflow. I'm dawless but I use Deluge and Circuit Tracks for sequencing and sample playback. However, if they ever produce a Octatrack mk III with extra external inputs and update the FX processing, I'd buy one and learn how to use it. But I can see how for some, this product fits a specific niche.
What exactly is “the elektron workflow” to you? Step sequencing? Because their devices are very flexible and can be used in a variety of ways. I only own a machinedrum right now but lately I have been using it as a midi controller for my evolver more than as a drum machine.
What you just described is an MPC with USB compliant audio and the new filters being added 23 June 2022. It even costs less and works with more channels, has a color screen… Anyway, just pointing something out. Pick what works best for you.
MC-707 and a few of the other Roland products also output their individual channels like the Syntakt. No analogue synth circuits built in, though. The drum engine synthesizes drumkits if desired, but the result is always rather clean, unlike the Electribe 2 which can get dirtier and more interesting.
After this video I want to go and play my Machinedrum with custom firmware. Unfortunately it doesnt have Overbridge, but its also can do a lot of fun sounds.
As I was agreeing with your commentary, taking a big sip of hot chocolate, orange light flooding the room, I notice that you have the same flippin' MUG that I'm sippin' from, ON YOUR DESK. Hope you're enjoying the journey so far. Cheers!
...and yeah... I love it. Ricky, You showed me few examples why I want to dive in that piece of hardware. It doesn't mean that I still want/need/have to to get Analog Rhytm Mk2 this year. I don't know yet what are the differences between those two but surely Elektron knew what they doing for the artists groups. To have, to know, and use more that one piece of hardware is always a form of a level.
I bought one just because it seems like it would be a fantastic complement to my mostly digital and sample-based eurorack setup. The combination of the 1010 BitBox and the Elektron sequencer alone just presents so many tantalizing possibilities.

I love Overbridge. I hook up the gear on the desktop, and most of the time I just remote connect to the desktop from my laptop via Parsec, and I have full control of my Digitone and Syntakt from anywhere in the house or backyard. Very little latency even.
My syntakt is coming tomorrow I don't need it. I definitely have GAS bcus I just brought a MC707 to pair with TR8S and sp404mk2 I jus Goin with my Gut. (GAS) The Syntakt had me at Day one. I tried to fight it. But since I Opted out from the DT I've been super curious about the sequencer workflow and sound. I imagine myself plugging into a PA at a Dive Bar and unleashing da Beast on the unsuspecting patrons. I want them to be in Awe as I crank out ENORMOUS EDM and House sound from the Lil Box into this 70s/80 Rock/Cover band Hole in DA Wall. I want ANARCHY!!!! And then.... We...shall have Peace.
Thanks! Great video as always! 👍🏼 It made me realise that I need to sell my syntakt and buy something else. I bought the syntakt on day one without much research. I Really thought it would be more synth-focused, and that the analog machines would be more like analog four. I’ve really tried to love it but to me it just feels like a cycles which I never liked either. And as you said about the chord-engine, it just sounds dull.
As someone who uses mostly vintage gear, and I have a room full of it. I am starting to feel like I am operating an old Main-frame, watching someone with a modern PC. And wondering why do I bother? Maybe I'm too old and stuck in my ways? 😀
I like the idea of the Syntakt. I had a Digitakt, and while I like the workflow, I'm not a sample kind of guy. I found myself using the drum synth of my Akai Force over the Digitakt, and decided to sell it (with the global price hike, I almost got back what I paid new a few years ago...). I'd get a Syntakt if it wasn't that expensive... In the meantime, Force drumsynth it is :)
i home Roland makes an interface like the TR8S for the MC707, the only thing that i like better about elektron boxes is overbridge. but i still love my OT!
Ive been happily using the digitakt for a few years now, but i gotta say im not super Down with overbridge. Falls in and out of sync, and just seems super unstable overall. Gone back to syncing via midi and recording the stereo out. Like that a lot more
Ricky if you like analog drums ready HOUSE e TECHNO, just try a Tanzmaus it will blow your mind it cuts throw the mix like the 909 and has separate outputs.
I don't get the confusion and complaints about it not playing samples. If you want that, save yourself some money and get a Digitakt! I love the sounds you can make with it, it finally gives me the controls I always missed on the Model:Cycles. Also as you show, the chords are so much more useful on this than the M:C!
I'm with you on that. No idea why people don't look at a product for what it is, not what it is not. This box looks amazing. I've had a few Elektron boxes in the past, and this one sums up everything I would want if I was to get another one :)
@@darakilicoglu Yes, but my point was that this is a drum synthesizer, not a sampler. I'm not saying samplers don't have their place; all I'm saying is that this is not a sampler.
It's specialized and it seems great at what it does. But wanting a groovebox with a synth engine ánd a sample engine isn't that crazy. There are options out there that do both and with Elektron you will need a Digitakt ánd a Syntakt and that's an incredibly pricy solution if you ask me. If this could júst play samples from an SD card, it doesn't have to sample, and they'd give you a simple amp envelope and a filter to process them it would be a much more complete package in my opinion. And especially at that pricepoint I would want a do-everything-groovebox.

pair this thing with a sampler and a synth or two and you've got a nice little setup.
Dude , keep your essence that I love
Dude, what are we doing here? I am trying not to trigger GAS, but your f'ing my ish up!
this thing with sampling and compression would be a dream, but like this? nah thx.. rytm all the way..
I must say those hi hat modulations sounded really funky.
My syntakt is coming tomorrow
I don't need it.
I definitely have GAS bcus I just brought a MC707 to pair with TR8S and sp404mk2
I jus Goin with my Gut.
(GAS)
The Syntakt had me at Day one.
Damn my syntakt comes in tomorrow. This is like exactly what ima do with it
Yeah I need to know more about overbridge.
cool man! looking on you it looks so easy and quick, but doing it by myself took me along more time :))) waiting for my syntakt
odd question, but what temp color would you say your lights are? your lighting is magic for chillin me out, I want that all in my house
It's also the most Christmasy of all the Elektron boxes... so, it's also got THAT going for it.
That chord progression is deeep 😗👌
the golf clap preset is definitely the best one on the cycles haha
Wow. You have a very impressive ability with that machine. Looks like it would take a while to learn tho’.
As someone who uses mostly vintage gear, and I have a room full of it. I am starting to feel like I am operating an old Main-frame, watching someone with a modern PC. And wondering why do I bother? Maybe I'm too old and stuck in my ways?
😀
Possibly. Do what makes you happy.
If you already got a Force, everything else is a downgrade. Force is the top of the game.
I like the mpc wotkflow and the drum synth on the Live is pretty nice
@@bryantwalley force is awesome
@@pierrefitch 👍
i home Roland makes an interface like the TR8S for the MC707, the only thing that i like better about elektron boxes is overbridge. but i still love my OT!
can we get a Model:Analog ? that's all i want...
i love nerds. thanks for the inspo. great energy.
Nerds are nerds
Dude I love this lighting!
It do Pad Chord, but it dont work in a way I expected. Better have a poly mode for chord design than chord memory thing.
great sounds here great work
New Ricky vid? I'm poggin' out of my mind right now.
Nice video man! Thank u!
Can you do a longer video on Syntakt house sound design?
ayy new ricky hype, saturday evening blessed
Syntakt + Octatrack + Kijimi….. Game over man!
still doubting to buy one... i really love elektron, Digitone is great.. user interface super! Syntakt is on my wishlist...
elektron should refund you bc this slaps and it's the first video that made me actually want the syntakt
Ricky you made an absolute banger on this thing I think electron owe you some comission 🤣
great video. I wonder if you could sequence a drum rack in ableton live with the syntakt via midi through usb.
Yes, you can
Ive been happily using the digitakt for a few years now, but i gotta say im not super Down with overbridge.
It’s a good sounding machine but I didn’t love it. I’m falling so hard for the Syntakt ❤️
Idk if I understand you correctly about FX page and placing triggers, but on rytm you can place trigs and automate stuff on a separate track
That hi hat is so spicy. Love this.
People want every device to have every feature… same reason why your car isn’t also a boat.
@@eagereyes exactly. Elektron has other devices that do samples.
