“ This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you, Kaladin: You will be warm again.”

I was honestly hoping this vo included this little bit, but I understand why he decided to leave out the characters' names. That's the bit I really needed to hear

Wit may be one of the best fantasy characters ever written. He has so many facets and aspects from book to book. Great work as always!

I imagine that some people who have never heard this story before will watch this.
If you would take a moment, we would love to hear your thoughts as an outsider hearing this for the first time.

I like to imagine this is a story meant to cheer up the hero. They might have failed in what they aspired to do...but In their some say foolhardy quest, they ended up being a force for good for others.

This was my first time running into it. Fourth time listening to this rendition since seeing it first this morning. For me this (completely meaningless and lacking in moral lesson) story dives deep into who I am. I believe who everyone is. There is something absolutely ubiquitous about everyone trying to fit into the shape of something we're told is right or trying to become more by changing what we are.
And i believe something incredibly valuable in realizing in all history, all time, all space, there has never and will never be another you. That even if people take the same action or same route you do, the outcome will be different. Even at a quantum level we're all obscenely unique creatures and the outcomes of similar efforts are wildly incongruous. So as the dog found that life in its moment is valuable, that even in striving for a goal that journey is invaluable. So as the dog found that no other creature would have made those choices to try and become a dragon or the choice to use those skills in such creative ways to have built the trust with the family and then saved their child. We too should know there is nothing more valuable than who we are to each of us. to ourselves.
